  1. Not quite sure what is ambiguous about it... Seems pretty clear to me.
  2. I would start in the late 19th century with the very early ideas of what (at the time) real space exploration would be like (Verne and Wells might be a place to start). Then progress to the people who actually started seriously working on propulsion, astronautics and systems in the early 20th century, Goddard, Tsiolkovsky, and Oberth, From there I would go to Von Braun and developments in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, as well as the early rocketry clubs of the 20s and 30s. Then cover the space race, maybe touching on Von Braun's plans for Mars (as shown in Das Marsprojekt and Colliers). I would spend the bulk of the course covering the unmanned science done since Apollo, especially the Voyager missions (I would recommend Stephen J. Pyne's Voyager book about the missions). Will this be primarily for history majors with an interest in space?
  3. What sort of microgravity research?
  4. Suggesting SpaceX needs to build the infrastructure for the colonies and outposts is like saying SpaceX needs to build, operate and maintain all of the satellites they launch. They are a launch provider, and ITS/MCT is just another way to get from point A to point B, its up to the governments, super wealthy and corporations to decide what to put on Mars and how to maintain it. To use another historical analogy, ITS/MCT is a large vessel supplanting the Caravel, not the East India company.
  5. That's the point. SpaceX isn't really interested in building a full colony, they are providing a platform on which organizations that can afford to build outposts can.
  6. I'm on CN, not active right now though. Mostly in the ATM sub, I'm crazy enough to grind my own mirror.
  7. This is just troll physics. Free-energy people are the flat-earthers of mechanisms and machines.
  8. Of course it's a glitch. If you had a finite number of Kerbals it would say something like 10 more, but because there is a glitch, it says N-more, N=some number. It could also be a joke that danny was making, since he has a reputation for cramming lots of kerbals on to ships (IIRC).
  9. I would also recommend the book Arrival is based on, Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang.
  10. Gravity? Don't kill me. The special effects tho, and the best zero-G effects in a movie yet... Just forget about orbital mechanics (and basic physics) and enjoy it.
  11. Moon. I'm hyped for Arrival. Though it looks like it is going to differ a lot from the book (Story of Your Life, Ted Chiang). Only heard about the book through news of the movie, read it shortly after hearing about it and it is quite good.
  12. @IonStorm What do you (and the team) do during the cruise phase?
  13. You were great at your job, aside from that horrible, horrible April fools day joke. Fare thee well and good luck in your future endeavors!
  14. Enjoy the launch! I have work so I'm going to miss it . Good luck @IonStorm and the rest of the team!
  15. KSP should never have been 'released.' I suspect they only did '1.0' to get people who were waiting for it to leave early access to buy the game; which is understandable given that it is practically impossible to support continuous development without a revenue stream. It is also unreasonable to assume that a team as small as Squad is gong to be able to produce a completely flawless (in terms of bugs) game, especially when the community demands more content and bug fixes. Not to mention the fact that there are some bugs that are Unity's problem, not Squad's (like the wheel/gear bug, IIRC).
  16. Always used mods before 1.1, haven't played much since then and haven't used mods much (though I always have KER installed, even on a vanilla install).
  17. Maybe a winter sale? Checkout the SteamDB page (https://steamdb.info/app/220200/) there's a graph at the bottom with past discounts and duration. I paid full price in 2013 ($27 IIRC) and have played thousands of hours.
  18. If the tank blew and the contents came into contact with exposed electronics, maybe?
  19. Could they have over pressurized the LOX or Kerosene tanks?
  20. Holy ****. SpaceX Static Fire Anomaly directed and produced by Michael Bay. This sucks. Edit: Is SpaceX the only launch provider that does pre-launch static fires? Why do they leave the payload on for the static fire? Vibration measurements?
  21. Welcome brother (or sister) Urist. Dwarf Fortress is by far the best colony/city management game I've played. It's an acquired taste, but a taste worth acquiring (IMO). Open the Happy Fun Surprise then. (OP, don't look it up if you haven't heard of it. Just go dig as deep as you can, and find a way around the magma sea ) Were-creatures are the bane of my fortresses. I frequently end up walling off the hospital (I'm horrible) that infected dwarves are put in. Goblin sieges are relatively straight forward when you have a good enough military.
  22. What sort of devs make a game about WWI and have France be DLC? Oh, it's EA.
  23. Shortly after the Space Engine 9.8.0 release too... Do free space simulator updates come in pairs? Have to check this out.
