  1. What game are you playing? The overriding feedback for KSP2 is bugs. Too many threads I have read have something said about how someone encountered a bug. Like, c'mon.
  2. I totally get it. Maybe I'm about to sound like a noob, but like maybe they could say "we are trying to squash X bug. Everyone if you want, try this and tell us what you get, and post it in Darrin's format"? I dunno, I just find this argument that all players are too stupid to make bug reports is not um...progressing the discussion. We want a better game. Some think a public bugtracker would help. I think everyone just wants this game to be better. Or if public bug reports are so bad, then stop the (hypothetical) charade, if you can't use them.
  3. It's space-grade tape...seriously. Its still kinda funny, but its tested so the adhesive works over a broader range of temperature and stuff like that. Its like a premium version of the aluminum tape they use on commercial aircraft...though, don't quote me on if this space tape is aluminum, I'm just making a comparison. Also, there is a serious concern for things flailing about on the spacecraft...they cannot rely on 1g to settle objects so they restrain them, sometimes with tape. Edit: crap, I totally missed your point..my best guess is that tape is either lighter than other options or is easier for something designated important...like its too much work to go get clippers to cut a zip tie when you can just rip the tape off...for what reason? I would love to find out. I agree with tape being seemingly an odd choice.
  4. I know what you mean, but I chose to use the devs verbiage, since I am not completely sure what they want either. I was using the fact that Darrin wrote a lengthy post instructing us as to how to most effectively report bugs as an indication that they want bug reports. This does not respond to @Periple's argument, here: Then please explain to me how it is necessary to release this information. If I am reporting a bug, why does IG need to tell me anything? Why would anyone have to release personal information? [snip]
  5. [snip] The thing is, your replies kinda boil down to "you guys wouldn't understand how this works." Having said that, I'm not saying you are incorrect. I am saying that we have conflicting information; The Devs asked us for feedback, then didn't make a proper pathway to give that feedback. I totally get your point about being overwhelmed with poor quality bug reports. I think there is a way to meet in the middle, as countless games have been developed with feedback from the community. If the call has already been made that feedback is not wanted, I'd hope they would tell us.
  6. There is more than one way to skin a cat. You speak in absolutes when the situation is neither black, nor white.
  7. If bug reports written by the public are useless, why are the Devs asking for them/posting instructions for us to properly report bugs? Optics?
  8. Nobody asked for access to the internal bugtracker; people are asking for a public bugtracker. No tangible benefit to development? Having a centralized place to report bugs and track their progress has no tangible benefit to development?
  9. They probably would have gotten more than 2.5x sales and actually made more money if they sold it for $20. They could legit say its EA. Most complaints include the price for what is offered. Edit: Aimed at the Dev team; I don't know how feasible this idea is, but maybe even put out blooper videos of some hard to fix bugs. As in "We are trying to fix X bug and found this bit of code that seems to conflict, so we implemented Y fix" and it totally messes up. If you guys are gonna homage Shaun Esau, you can homage Danny2462.
  10. I get Elon always presents the most optimistic timeline possible with zero errors whatsoever, but compared to lots of other companies/organizations, his timelines aren't all that far off. Especially considering this is spaceflight. Starliner, SLS, Virgin Galactic, etc.. It seems more accurate to say that most space companies have no clue when their stuff will be ready. Edit: How could I forget the whole "Where are my engines, Jeff" thing?
  11. Much of the cost is in certification. You can get material from the same factory, but the aerospace material can be, for example, 10x the cost of the non-aerospace grade material because the aerospace grade stuff has been tested to finer tolerances. In many cases, the material can be identical, the only difference is one was exposed to expensive tests to determine the exact characteristics of the material. There is a joke in aviation that a plane is certified when the weight of the paperwork equals the weight of the aircraft. Having said that, the details of this report are way beyond regular aerospace certification costs.
  12. I cannot find PA on Steam. I can find PA:Titans, if thats what you mean?
  13. Ok, look, I don't wanna argue. You think the game is good? Cool. I don't. Allow me to say why I don't think it is cool, please?
  14. @The Aziz"may be an update" Yeah, thats my point, they said whatever they did, then last Friday, they said "yeah, we will update you later" Feel free to correct me with the actual events...my point is that it is lame to say they will give an update, and then the update is to say they will give an update later. Its lame. And does not inspire confidence.
  15. I doubt the game was too difficult. They complained about it being unfinished and janky. That is not skill level.
  16. Sounds like Startolaunch got some spares.
  17. Ok, I'm sorry, I should have included the CMs as well. This does not change what I was getting at. This is the official board for the game...where else do we say what we think is not cool with the game? If they had an actual PR person, they would be able to handle this. Edit: I don't want to sound like a jerk, I just mean that bigger mistakes have been made and have been handled gracefully...I don't get why there is no investment in a PR person if they are in it for the long haul. Also, the community managers kinda like just say the same nothings...no offense. Like I get why they can't say anything, thats why I left them out of it.
  18. Who else do we express our grievances to? If they had an actual PR person instead of making the creative director be PR, then this would have been avoided.
  19. I think overall, it is safe to say that its kinda not cool to say there will be an update on the progress last week, and the update is "we are working on it for next month" The point was made that they don't want to give false expectations. They already gave us false expectations. And by now giving us no expectations, they are not giving a reason to be excited for the patch. As of right now, I know we might be getting gridfins and we might be getting some bugfixes. Which ones? I guess we will find out. I am the opposite of hyped.
  20. From the wiki: "Planetary Annihilation received a mixed reception upon release. The game was praised for its ambitious concept, but criticized for playability and overall incompleteness. Rock, Paper, Shotgun's Brendan Caldwell writes: "Planetary Annihilation is a slick, modernised RTS, engineered from the ground up to appeal to the fast-paced, competitive, hotkey-loving esports crowd".[29] PC Gamer's Emanuel Maiberg, experiencing hard to learn gameplay unaided by proper tutorials and disrupted by technical issues, states: "I know there's a great, massive RTS beneath all these issues. I've seen glimpses of it when everything works correctly, but at the moment I can't recommend Planetary Annihilation without a warning that it's bound to disappoint and frustrate, even if you do teach yourself to play it".[30] IGN's Rob Zacny summarizes: "A cool idea about robot armies battling across an entire solar system breaks apart when the realities of controlling multiple worlds at the same time set in" Reviews are: Metacritic: 62/100 Eurogamer: 6/10 IGN: 4.8/10 I sincerely hope that KSP2 turns out better than PA, but I have to be realistic here.
  21. I think they are trying to get at the fact that its exceedingly easy not fail at something when you don't tell anyone what your goals are. Yes, we have the roadmap...but we aren't even out of the driveway yet though. There are multiple debates over whether they should fix bugs first or add features first, for example. They said vaguely they are doing both...so therefore they cannot fail. And this is precisely why people are asking for info. I would rather they focus on something, tell us what their goal is, try, and fail, than have some namby-pamby "we are working hard and everything looks good" type of answer. I don't understand why it is so difficult to admit things did not work out as planned. I mean, everyone fails...the successful people fail and learn from it, the unsuccessful people fail and try to make excuses or try to go on thinking everything is okay.
  22. You might want to read the whole list of guidelines, not the cherry picked one that supports your point https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess Edit: "Early Access is a place for games that are in a playable alpha or beta state, are worth the current value of the playable build, and that you plan to continue to develop for release." It is not worth $50USD currently. "Early Access is not a way to crowdfund development of your product. You should not use Early Access solely to fund development. If you are counting on selling a specific number of units to complete your game, then you need to think carefully about what it would mean for you or your team if you don't sell that many units. Are you willing to continue developing the game without any sales? Are you willing to seek other forms of investment?" Many feel the game was released in this state to continue funding for development. "Make sure you set expectations properly everywhere you talk about your game. Be transparent with your community. For example, if you know your updates during Early Access will break save files, make sure you tell players up front. And say this everywhere you sell your Steam keys." Expectations were wildly overhyped. "Don't launch in Early Access without a playable game. If you have a tech demo, but not much gameplay yet, then it’s probably too early to launch in Early Access." Not much gameplay to be had here.
  23. So an announcement that you will sometime in the future make an announcement, huh? Is anyone else reminded of that "Curb Your Enthusiasm" where Jason Alexander and Larry David argue over their meeting to plan a meeting?
  24. I believe the 777 engines are able to have the fan disassembled from the core and are carried as main deck cargo on two separate pallets.
