  1. Thanks from a long time PC player, and now PS4 player (dat comfy couch yo!)
  2. Well, good effort on your part then... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno man, I built a mun lander, a barge (boat), a few planes, and flown them all fine (landed on Mun, got into the water without exploding, and landed at the old base), the controls 'work', you just need to spend more than a few minutes learning them. Its gonna take a little investment on the users part to reap the benefits. Even with a KB/M its not 'intuituve', its stil complex as hell, and flying is definitely worse on KB.
  3. The text is readable, and the game plays about the same as a PC...so I dunno. I have both, I took the PS4 version to Mun to run through all the systems / controls...it works, I got there with minimal "how do I do X or Y"...hell, I even landed in mostly one piece.
  4. Its not what I did, but what I realized. I realized if you approach missions as the means to raise money to fund your usual bizarre craft builds and missions, missions are far more interesting. I.e., "If I do these 5 missions, I'll have enough money to build a space plane to visit minmus and drop Jeb off there, just because I can". Missions and contracts are not always married together...I played my first few hours of v.24 acting like they were.
  5. Ah...Hmmm...I'll struggle with that decision WAY more than I should
  6. So...what Im reading here is that the Immortals are no longer immortal in career mode?? if thats the case, Im going to take a mulligan, and restart (Im only the first few basic missions in). I killed Jeb during a very daring attempt to get SCIENCE while descending very quickly in the reach 5000m mission. Edit - I also pretend I have a simulator for brief test flights to make sure A) the thing doesn't fall apart sitting still Has aerodynamics that make flight at least remotely possible C) make sure the chute doesn't deploy in the first stage. Simulator only runs to 70,000m in my world..after that, they are on their own
  7. I made a hail mary rescue attempt for my 6 stranded kerbals on the Mun. I wanted to have them use a 'probe/lifter' I sent to fly them home to instead fly into a cargo section of a massive Mun Freightliner I had orbiting the Mun...that didnt work, as I have no RCS on it, so I blasted for Kerbin and figured I'd retro-burn and land gently (no parachute, because Kerbal). I hit the atmosphere at 4000m/s , flames lasted till 20,000m (all my Kerbals were sitting externally..because Kerbal), and despite entering tail first, the drag flipped me nose first and the speed and general lack of a good design, I was unable to turn it around and slow it down...so they all died. Then I decided to bring home the massive cargo thing, and it made it, and I even got rid of my nuclear engines to be a good Kerbin citizen, entered...hit the chutes (12 of them!) and it broke into pieces, but the pilot survived. So, everyone is home (or dead..but home) and waiting for .24 to launch their next business operation
  8. 1. No mods 2. No Reverts 2a. I may still allow my house rule of declaring that a flight is 'simulated' for testing purposes. Simulated flights can only be simulated to 70,000m, because my imaginary simulator doesn't have enough RAM to do more. Basically, I make sure my aerodynamics are not HORRENDOUS and staging it correct ( and I remembered parachutes and legs etc) 3. No kerbals left behind...which is true usually cause they are all dead. 4. Space junk is highly frowned upon 5. Manned flights before probes..the the probes are probably smarter and more valuable than the space frogs
  9. Jebs on the Mun...he and the other Immortals, went to 'rescue' three other Kerbals...sadly, the vehicle has no way of lifting off due some design flaws (I decoupled the wrong pieces on my landing..). So they are standing around telling ghost stories until Kenlorf can get a rescue vehicle up there that can fit them all..cause thats my fake-mission. So far, Kenlorf has crashed into the Mun twice, only being saved by the almighty god of Revert.
  10. Today I killed 143 kerbals...ya see...I made a space station, it seats 30+...I failed to get it into orbit 2 times...failed to get to space once..and after achieving orbit and finding it to be a useless ISS (no refueling etc), I recovered it, and put 16 wheels on it, and decided to take it to the moon. 328 parts, 36ish kerbals, lots of lag, and god knows what it weighed...needless to say on my attempt to establish orbit it dipped under 65,000, taking all the men to their graves (except the 3 immortals). I also impacted the Mun 5 more times with smaller landing craft...by impacting, I mean IMPACTING. I have landed once on the Mun so far, and can get there regularly, so Im coming along.
  11. I'd make it be about something you didn't expect...like something made Jeb sad, and the others all search the universe for something to cheer him up again...but what he really wanted, was a milkshake.
  12. Forgive me for not knowing my exact specs, but my laptop is a older i5, with AMD 6650m, and 4-6GB Ram, and it runs on lowish graphics great, my largest 'rocket ship' (I use quotes because it doesn't really fly) is almost 300 parts. It was $650 a year ago.
  13. Apparently one cannot 'ride' the capsule during decent...but it seemed like something a kerbal should try...in the name of SCIENCE of course. I've made a few flights of ever increasing heights, but no orbits yet. I figure walking myself along via career mode is smart since I can't just strap 45 rockets together and light a match. My only issue is occasionally it seems like the stages don't work right, like last night I added 3 boosters to my "Jebediah 2" spacecraft (since he is dead, he gets a line of rockets named after him), and two peeled off fine, but the third hung on like a hungry tick, despite having a decoupler for each, this sent poor Bob going in loops until the forces sheared off that booster and then he was able to go to space, somehow surviving. All the tutorials and YT's are a big help...I'll figure this out, Mun or bust.
