1. Here's some rare footage of the first and only flight of the Conestoga rocket 1995.
2. I have no problem someone saying "We have no clue if there is live out there", it is a perfectly valid statement. But i have a problem with someone saying there is no live out there because we have no data on it. It is completely wrong in every way, scientifically and logically. It's no shame to admit we do not know something, but it's a shame claiming something doesn't exist because we didn't detected it yet. As a scientist you have to be open minded for every possibility even that one that there is an omnipotent being that created us all (just think of the simulated universe scenario, someone created it on a super computer and the creator might be something as our omnipotent being). Regarding the Fermi Paradox, because we don't really have the means detecting live on exoplanets this paradox can't be solved by our actual technology it's more of a philosophical question that can give us something to think about and lead us to many possibilities regarding our existence but one thing i am sure of, the Fermi Paradox can't answer us the question "Are we alone?"
3. How conceited someone has to be to think that Earth is the only place in the Universe that can support sentient life? It's as good as believing in an omnipotent being that created us all and the best thing about it i don't need no data for it.
4. Antares is very cool, especially when it explodes :-)
5. Somehow i still don't know what this thread is about?
6. @PB666 You can't seriously believe that there is no life out there? Even if it happens that we are the only sentient beings in the Milky Way did you even think about how many more galaxies are out there ? There will probably never be a way to detect any signals from them but that for sure doesn't mean that there is no life out there,
7. You surely don't want to join this group. There is nothing for you in there. Go away.
8. @tater ROFL dude you made my day THX
9. Hello fellow KSP'ers ! We created a new team for the SETI@home where everyone with a computer can participate in the search for extraterrestrial life. You only need the BOINC software and register an account at SETI@home . We would love if you join our newly created KSP Fan Group team. Also there are many different science projects to choose if you are not really into SETI. BOINC is highly configurable and with the default setting it will use you CPU/GPU only when you are not using you computer. Hope to see you soon crunching!
10. The sea is not always that calm like in the OP's pictures. What will happen to such a city when this happens:
11. Yeah, sadly i have to agree with this. Most games released with procedural generated environments lack diversity. It's however a problem with the complexity of the algorithms not the method itself. I'm sure if game designers would put more work into them it would be different but this again goes against the current spirit of game designing to make them as fast as possible and to cash as much as possible in that short time.
12. Batman, cause Batman is flagged as badass in the config file
13. I suggest to connect your soundcard to your HiFi equipment with an digital optical or coaxial cable then set you digital output in the soundcard settings to 5.1 or whatever HiFi configuration you have.
14. Here's my DIY Geiger counter. Original design from this site: https://sites.google.com/site/diygeigercounter/home

Vulkan API

The only fear i have is that M$ could pay big $$$ to some engine developers to not support Vulkan. Vulkan might be the biggest attack on them since open source.

Vulkan API

I don't think it will take 5 years, hell Croteam adapted their game The Talos Principle already in record time and you can try out Vulkan with it since the release day.
17. These are also very cute:
18. Yesterday i had a look on your mom, jeez, mass exists.
19. We don't need an Alcubierre drive to reach relativistic speeds. There are a few already known technologies to do that.
20. Because it's all over the news again here's some debunking:
21. Jeez, i really don't know what you guys thought about changing into this forum. It's awful
22. I just don't understand the recent hate against Musk here. Jealousy? There's no need to tear apart every of his tweets analyzing it into the smallest details. One would call such a thing stalking and stalking is a typical behavior of fanboys. :-D
23. NASA Orders SpaceX Crew Mission to International Space Station http://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-orders-spacex-crew-mission-to-international-space-station I hope this news fits into this thread, didn't want to open a new one.
