  1. It doesn't. But KSP used to be. /it is a sad day.
  2. By that definition Windows10 is OK, too. LOL / still uses Win7 // will be moving to Linux
  3. EULA says they "may" gather info offline, and transmit it later. And as a software developer, if I wanted to turn a game into spyware, I wouldn't do it all at once. I'd put in the EULA and I'd put the components in the app, but I wouldn't activate them all. I'd wait until the hubbub died down and all the privacy advocates had left (say 1.5 or so) and then I would slowly start ramping up the information gathering. Just say'n.
  4. IMHO, it looks to me that TT didn't buy KSP as an educational game that they could sell to new people, they bought us. They bought the community, an installed base of users that they can exploit for micropayments and marketing information, and to make content for them, just like facebook. and I don't do facebook. These aren't our friends in Mexico anymore, this is a multinational corporation in New York.
  5. But that EULA and Orwellianly named "Privacy Policy" are all about them collecting A LOT of information. BTW: There are so many carve-outs for EU citizens in there it makes me want to move to Germany.
  6. Fark.com is a news site with discussion boards. Jeb was showing up in threads a lot back in the KSP .02x days. As soon as I saw it, I knew that was a game for me.
  7. No I don't, because yes, I do read EULAs. /and BTW thanks for throwing shade on my ability to read.
  8. I would assume because now you don't have a choice. I would also assume that firewalling it, or sandboxing it will keep it from running. (if not in this build then in the next). And I'm assuming all this because I will not install it.
  9. 1. Main engine toggle (usu Nukes) 2. Vertical thruster toggle (VTOLs and Rovers) 3. Aux thruster toggle (I often have LFOs plus nukes) 4. RAPIER Lox toggle (or reverse thruster toggle on high speed rovers) 5 SCIENCE! 6. Docking port door toggle 7. cargo bay door toggle 8. Kill SAS in ships vehicles (rovers/landers) 9. Space Mode: toggle solar panels, antenna, etc 0. Ground mode: toggle ladders, cargo ramps, drills etc.
  10. yes but there is nothing vague about this: EQUITABLE REMEDIES You hereby agree that if the terms of this Agreement are not specifically enforced, Licensor will be irreparably damaged, and therefore you agree that Licensor shall be entitled, without bond, other security, or proof of damages, to appropriate equitable remedies with respect any of this Agreement, including temporary and permanent injunctive relief, in addition to any other available remedies. / I should be working. I don't have time for this. Sorry.
  11. How about a pro se defense in a ten-year lawsuit over a contract? I won.
  12. Nothing in a contract is meaningless. If you agree they've been damaged, you agree they've been damaged. Neither of us are lawyers, I don't want to fight with you. You seem to think their lawyers have spent a lot of time drafting all that, and trying to get us all to agree with it for absolutely no reason? It's all unenforceable and meaningless?? I disagree.
  13. So: "No, I can't accept the new EULA and may have to stop updating/playing KSP altogether" not only that, but I will never be buying or even installing a demo of a Take Two product, ever.
  14. I'm not a lawyer but I disagree. According to that agreement if you write a mod for 1.4 they own it. Even if its just on your hard drive. But like I said its boilerplate the same is true if you write an MS Office app. I just found this: That's especially troubling. You're agreeing that they don't even have to show proof of damages? That's outrageous.
  15. I just read that EULA. (I'm a software developer who's read many of those, and even written a couple.) Most of it boilerplate these days. Them claiming ownership of your content is no worse than facebook or youtube. They're trying to use one EULA for all their products so parts of it don't apply, and other parts are self-contradictory. At the top they forbid modding of any kind and later claim ownership of you mods. This part is offensive: So while I give them the copyright to my work, I'm not even allowed to say "hey, I wrote that." and this: According to that, you are liable to everyone from their CEO to their janitor for any damages indirectly related to your omission to act?! What the hell does that mean? and this: So if any of this is illegal, it will be automatically changed to make it legal (in some as yet undetermined way) and you're agreeing to that. Other than that, they're telling you that they're going to spy on you, gathering any information they want, and doing with it anything they want: Its really disappointing that KSP, which was for me the last bastion of good clean computer fun, has become another piece of malware spying on me, produced by another company that doesn't think of me as customer, but as their property to do with as they see fit and if I don't like that, then; Get out! There's been a lot of talk in this thread that if you don't agree to the new terms ("I've altered our agreement, pray I don't alter it further") you have to stop playing you current build of KSP. Well, perhaps. But what are they going to do? Sue you? For personal use of a single outdated copy of a $25 game?
  16. The only part of the new EULA that I have a problem with is this part: its no worse that the same section the Facebook EULA, or the terms of this Forum. But I agree yes, its all over reaching, which is why i don't use facebook or create any KSP content. My advice keep playing KSP. (you paid for it) Don't create content (they're not paying you for it).
  17. Fix to the absolute rotation UI The graphic is backwards. There are two parts: The big colored rings (that local mode are in aligned relative to the part) and the graduated rings (that only show up in absolute mode) and (currently) when you move the part the big colored rings remain stationary and the graduated rings move. That's what's backwards. The graduated rings should be stationary and on the outside, and the big colored rings should be on the inside aligned with the part and move with the part. With the big colored rings stationary like that I can't even see the part I'm rotating much less which way its pointing. Edit: also the big colored rings need and "UP" or "Forward" Each part has a default up and down right? Can we add a little cone on the big colored rings pointing "Up" at one of those intersections? (I guess that's "forward" in the SPH) Edit II: now that I think about landing gear, we need two cones; up and forward.
  18. You don't know when two ship have bumped against each other or are rubbing against each other. Audio feedback would be valuable. (and scare the hell out of me!) Cluttered? LOL unreadable. Now that I think about it the "overlay" thing (i.e the ability to color code individual parts according to a game-play variable, like heat) is REALLY extensible. Not just power, heat, or fuel status, but everything; stress, torque, thrust, DRAG! (the drag lines really don't show you which part is creating the drag) imagine overlays showing which landing strut or wheel is taking all the impact. where the ship is stressing before it breaks apart on launch. I think this overlay thing needs to be really really expanded.
  19. VAB master fuel slider A master tweaker in the VAB and (more importantly) the SPH so you can quickly defuel the entire craft evenly at once, (or using the priority?) so you can calc the dV and see the CoM move. VAB CoD indicator Center of Drag Electrical Consumption Overlay Just like the heat overlay, but it shows which parts are consuming power and how much. So you can see that you left the ISRU unit on, or that those wheels have power even though they are in the cargo bay. Fuel Status Overlay Just like the heat overlay, Highlight all the tanks from green to red based on how full they are. (you really can't see anything w/ the current gazillion sliders). (You could page through all the overlays just by hitting F11 over and over) Alternate Action Groups I need more action groups.Using shift, control or alt with the number seems intuitive, but I realize we use those keys for throttle, maybe we could use numlock or scroll lock or something. oh, and more noises: Now that RCS hisses, we need wheel motors whirring, docking clamps clamping, and bumps, scrapes, and scratching when we don't dock , and how about an "ooomph" when a Kerbal falls down. EDIT: Oh, and the cube (that marks the CoM) in the center of the asteroids needs to be replaced with the CoM marker from the VAB. (This game actually has a thing that the player understand means "Center of Mass" but for some reason you're not using it.) Thanks guys great game!
  20. Building an Eve biome hopper. Horizontal take off with wings, twin Vector engines. put the nose in the air and you can get an Ap of 120/140 km, and come down a quarter of a planet away, on Kerbin, I figure that means about a sixth of Eve. Its an Intercontinental Ballistic Airplane. My question is about lower- slower flight. What is my best strategy for flying an overpowered plane that goes through fuel so quickly? Short bursts of full throttle followed by long periods of gliding? Or a small amount of continuous thrust? Subsonic and low? or climb to 7 km and bust the sound barrier? - and then glide? but for how long? down to Mach 1, or down to stall speed? So many options!
  21. As soon as you craft has a bottom (gear wheels engines whatever) put it on the the floor of the VAB. 1, it helps line up landing gear and stuff like that but 2 its more fun. Its more realistic and the kerbal ground crew is bigger and actually seems to be walking around it and working on it with you.
  22. in the VAB and SPH, when you attach struts and fuel lines; drag the second point THROUGH the target part, not TO the target part. Try to attach the second point to the FAR SIDE of the part, it will attach to the near side of course, but you'll be able to get things much straighter and more accurate. Fort instance you can drag several struts to the same farside point on on the near side they will be perfectly spaced out and lined up.
  23. the "rugged" wheels on my rovers don't survive reentry.
  24. you think 6 minutes is a long burn? LOL. 20, 30 minute burns are common for me. I used to have hour- long burns before I learned about Pe kicking, EDIT: wait, your rig blew up in 6 minutes? mine took 10. That would mean that the quad adapter was BETTER at absorbing and transferring heat than the girder segment you used. So not only does proximity not matter (KSP does not model radiant heat) but part selection matters.
