  1. (Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, I apologize. Feel free to move it as needed.) I don't know about others, but while I love Danny2462 and Scott Manley and Jacksepticeye and KurtJMac and so forth... there are times when what I need is something more low-key. More space eye-candy, less explosions, you might say. And I wound up creating a few, and I've found at least one other video in a similar vein. I call the resulting playlist, the Mellow Space Program. . Because I think there is a niche for soothing, relaxing, dreamlike, chill KSP videos, I'd like to invite others to submit their videos if they'd like to be included in the Mellow Space Program playlist. There isn't much constraint on content as long as it's on-theme, visually and musically. (My own video, "Noodle Rocket Ballet," would have made the cut if it didn't intentionally feature explosions.) If you'd like to include your video, you can either post it in this thread, or use the tag "Mellow Space Program" on your YouTube video. Thanks. In closing--I did not make this video, but it's so very gorgeous, extremely well-edited, and simply lovely to watch and listen to.
  2. If nobody has mentioned this to SWDennis, someone should. (I'll let you guess what the "SW" stands for.) - - - Updated - - - He'd find a way to make the Death Star superlaser converge at a single point, which will then be used to propel the Klaw into the planet in question, Kerbal in grip.
  3. "Mellow Space Program" is both a series of KSP videos and a that focuses on soothing, relaxing, or dreamlike KSP footage and music. This is the first one intentionally created under the Mellow Space Program name, however. This was mostly an excuse to practice using Camera Tools with slower relative velocities. Also, an excuse for Jeb to bounce, because he's reckless like that. Only one Kerbal was slightly banged up in the making of this video, the little masochist thrillseeker. Footage taken from my "MOAR SCIENCE, HI!" Science game. The landing capsule here is mostly from the Mark One Laboratory Extensions mod. The engine is from Lack's Stock Extension. There are also cameras (not used) from Hullcam VDS. And there are surface lights on the capsule, from, well, Surface Lights. 4. Before a moderator brings it up: What's the license? Technically we shouldn't distribute mods without a license, even if it's a simple "do whatever you want, I don't care." This reduces Squad's liability and makes it more obvious whether anyone else can modify or re-distribute the mod. (Also, if you openly declare a permissive license, that helps to ensure your mod can continue to be used and updated even if you and Mike_NZ are no longer able to maintain it. There are scores of mods that would have died off months or years ago if it weren't for GNU, Creative Commons, public domain licenses, etc.)
  5. Hey all, just an update on the next challenge--it's in the works, and will still be Kerbal Foundries vs KerbinSide Air-Race. But I probably won't post the challenge until the first weekend in September as I've got plans for this weekend. I'm also thinking about what the challenge after that will be like, and I think I have a very interesting idea, but... I'm not going to share it just yet. It'll be slightly more involved, so I want to try to work out the kinks in advance. Would it be useful to have a standalone thread for discussing these challenges?
  6. I'm not sure what's going wrong, but when I install version 0.9 from CKAN, ModuleManager chokes and crashes the game. I'm not sure why off-hand. At first I thought it was because you misspelled "tetrafluoride" but it looks like you used "BlutoniumTetraflouride" consistently in the cfgs. 7. Once I fix a few flaws in my own variant of the Discovery II, the Bon Voyage, I'll share more pics. But for now, here's what I have. The centrifuge is made from structural fuselages to which I added cabin windows from Lack's SXT.
  8. And mine look like Red Shirt's. Go figure. (Seriously, though, hoping you figure it out!)
  9. I actually kinda like what this does to the music in space. It's creepy. A toggle would be excellent though, I would agree.
  10. And with that, this challenge is now closed! Many congratulations to the_bT, greydragon70, and Alpha_Ash for placing high in both categories; to Lego8_bit for Coolest Looking Design; to smjjames for Weirdest Looking Design and Most Massive Craft, and to everyone else who participated! I'm very happy about how this one turned out, and I'm already thinking ahead to my next challenge. Stay tuned!
  11. They've followed me for MONTHS.
  12. Does anyone have a copy of this lying around? The download links no longer work.
  13. Did you see my Whiplash entry? I hit the pylon and got whipped 90 degrees off-course, but stayed in one piece. I think Jebediah Kerman gets "Luckiest B*****d Still Alive" by default. I'm nominating you for "Funniest Entry Post," though, for certain.
  14. I don't usually download others' .craft files but for this I think I must make an exception. Very nice work!
  15. I'll update the scoreboard in the next couple of days--awesome entries so far though!
  16. Back in 0.90, I started experimenting with SSTO rocketships, and I was trying to take an existing SSTO design of mine, the Jupitec 4 series, and add enough delta-V to allow flights to Minmus and back. So I added nacelles and air intakes (for Kerbin launches where air-breathing give considerable benefits) and next thing you know I have something that looks more like a fairytale castle than a rocket. The original Jupitec series doesn't fare so well in KSP 1.0+, I regret to say, although I am working on the Jupitec X line and have some initial successes. Regardless, I don't think I'll be making any more Flying Buttresses.
  17. Definitely contenders for both Weirdest Looking Craft and Most Massive Craft.
  18. *starts throwing Funds at you* *clutches the Kerbal Animation Suite closely and covetously*
  19. I'm now tinkering with my own twin turbo-jet craft, and I've reached the same conclusion--it's REALLY REALLY hard. Which means I will probably base a future challenge off that premise. Mwahahahahahaha. (Aside: We need a devil Kerbal smiley.) It's legit--you hit that one ridge just past Gate 9. Yes, it meant you didn't touch down again until just before the Finish, but you satisfied the touchdown rule regardless. - - - Updated - - - He did that to mock me. Dusk is when Valentina crashed during her attempt at the run. I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING. *runs off crying*
  20. Cone clipping is OK, if only because I really don't want to rules-lawyer this challenge to death. And greydragon70's advice is pretty good--that's what I typically try to do, with some success, more or less. As for whether to record--that depends on whether you're up for posting your failures later. Sometimes the failures are more spectacular than the successes. And the video footage I've got... well, I have a certain pop-culture parody in mind that has been attempted in KSP a couple of times, but mine's got enough of a twist that I think it'll be particularly funny.
