  1. Looks like a Terminal Velocity warning mod of some kind. Not sure which. Assuming that means Over Throttle.
  2. Success! Completely unassisted rendezvous and orange fuel tank transfer to my station! (in hindsight I probably should have practiced on something more maneuverable, but I don't care cause I did it!)
  3. So, now I'm trying to figure out how to change the prefix on the thread... EDIT: Ah found it.
  4. Well I just watched Scott Manley's video for whats gotta be the 100th time and realized my mistake. When I wanted to slow down relative to the target I was pointing at the pink marker instead of the green marker. I'm pretty sure that is what I did wrong. Thanks for the help though.
  5. I'm trying to learn to Rendezvous and Dock and I'm having trouble. I can close to within ~200m but when I go to stop my movement to the target, I can't seem to get it below 2 m/s. It's like I'm flying circles around the target. I know I must have missed a step but I've watched tons of videos on this and can't figure out what I did wrong. If I turn on mech jeb to get me there I can dock just fine without help, I just can't figure out this last little bit of the Rendezvous. I really want to be able to do this on my own. Any suggestions?
  6. I will get the log for you later today, no... no mods yet. However, I had considered it may be my 8800GT that I am using for a dedicated PhysX adapter in Windows causing a problem. Or maybe the fact I have 2 screens. I'll try without those later as well.
  7. Has anyone managed to get this to run in Linux Mint? I installed Linux Mint 17 just a few days ago, used the driver manager to turn on the Nvidia Drivers, and installed Steam and KSP and tried to run it. What I see is a window attempt to open and immediately close/crash again. I never actually get into the game at all. Any ideas? I did try to force the 64 bit version in Steam as well as leaving the 32 bit version on, neither worked. I also tried the LC_ALL=C trick, that didn't help either.
  8. I'm not sure how you would plot a mun capture without the map. Really the challenge can be applied to more than just Mun landings, it was just the one I picked. You could do it with any action, the key is to just not have any visual advantage a real astronaut/cosmonaut wouldn't have. You could argue the map screen represents a computer or mission control.
  9. I just thought of this, and to be fair, no I can't do it yet, but I'm curious to know if anyone else can. Challenge Steps: 1. Create any craft using the Command Pod MK1. 2. Go to the launch pad and press C to enter the cockpit. 3. Land on the Mun and EVA. 4. Return to the craft and return to cockpit view. 4. Return safely to Kerbin. Rules: 1. You may use the all available instrumentation and features in the cockpit and map screen. 2. You may not use C to view the outside of the craft at any time after launch. 3. No mods. I would love to watch a video if you succeed (optional).
  10. I'm kind of new myself. Once I figured out the basics of orbiting, I put a couple different satellites in the air with docking ports to practice docking. They are mostly just solar panel, SAS, battery, and fuselage, but they get the job done.
  11. I think they should just make it so each stage has it's own set of action groups. For example, why would I want to deploy solar panels during the launch stage? Well I wouldn't but that action group is reserved for solar panels because that's the only way. If each stage had it's own set of action groups that wouldn't be an issue.
  12. I'm somewhat new to KSP and I've seen a lot of complaints about how difficult it is to do things like intercepting and docking. Having tried it now, I think a lot of the issues can be solved not by simply making it easier, but improving the maneuver gui. I don't want to compromise the actual difficulty, just make the controls easier. Below are my suggestions. 1. Add a fine adjustment control. When your trying to zero in on an orbit it's hard to adjust because it moves so quickly when you pull the levers. So if you hold the MOD key and pull the lever it should slow down rate at which the vector changes. (if there is already a way to do this, I couldn't find it). 2. Add a way to see elevations et. al. without mouse over. Perhaps a list view that appears on one side of the screen showing current, maneuver, and target for apoapsis, acending, decending nodes, intercepts, captures, and escapes, etc. The reasoning here is that constantly picking up the mouse off of the control your tweaking to see if your at your target is a good way to miss. It's a bit absurd really. 3. Add a "snap to" maneuver button. This would be a button to snap the maneuver to the target as close as possible given the point of maneuver. So if I add a maneuver at the perapsis and click the button, the apoapsis should adjust to be pretty close to the target's apoapsis, however because of the maneuver node's location, the periapsis would likely not change much. After doing 2 of these maneuvers I should be in a near identical orbit to my target.
