  1. My thought is this: If a normal Clamp-O-Tron has more effective pull than a Clamp-O-Tron Sr... something's amiss.
  2. Lol, you've had that happen to you too, eh? I dealt with a particularly vicious "critic" on KSP's FB page who ripped into me for wanting a little noise to go with some of the wheels (is it wrong to have a little "rev" for rugged wheels... like hearing a truck accelerating?), aaaand it ended with him making my seem like I was brain-dead, ending in an unnecessary "Yay!". Ya gotta wonder why some people are the way they are, sometimes. *sigh* But adding to the topic, yes. I'd love hinge joints, telescoping booms, rotors, and sliding gantry rails.
  3. Yeah... that response wasn't helpful, at all... or even assuring. ...Or even warranted!
  4. Frankly, I enjoy Career Mode since, unlike Sandbox Mode, it taught me "how to make the most efficient rocket", rather than "how to make the biggest/fastest rocket" Sandbox Mode pretty much endorses. Also, before an accidental reload to a previous save, I had a pretty tricky Tourism Contract where I had Six Kerbals wanting different things (One wanting a Mun Orbit, two wanting a Minmus Orbit, and three wanting a Minmus Landing)... I started writing down, in tally/name abbreviation style, which Kerbal wanted what, since the contract isn't as cut-and-dry as I just explained it (Itineraries are sometimes out of order), allowing me to figure out three different trips which would, effectively, minimize the amount of Kerbal seating and allow for a more stable take-off and angling to create an orbit. I guess I'm a glutton for cunning and resourcefulness.
  5. Yeah... exactly. But what you suggested CAN'T be done with my current game since it's already saved!!! Plus, I apologize for my outburst. I recall a lot of trolls "suggesting" people do Alt+F4, in general... basically force-quitting anything. Thought that was your intent. I'm sorry.
  6. Honestly, for me, having "more" music isn't as simple as one thinks... No offense to MajorJim!, but hearing that Mars song did NOT make me feel like that would work for a CALM, UNEVENTFUL stroll on Duna's cold, dry, desolate surface (maybe ascent/descent from Dunian Atmosphere, but nothing much else; It's a pretty niche song... most of those songs are niche-y, moreso than warranted). I guess I'd want some differing music for Ascent/Descent, in contrast to being on Eve's/Duna's/Laythe's/Eeloo's surfaces: For example, Minmus's ascents and descents are easy and gentle, whereas Eve's are way rougher than, say, Kerbin, what with the denser atmosphere and slightly heavier gravitational pull. It's asking for a lot, I know. Tbh, the current music, otherwise, works for the Mun and Minmus... but that could be because it's the two bodies you'll be on mostly, at the start (still, maybe something lightly anthem-y for Mun walks, and something light and bouncy for Minmus walks and jumps, would be neat).
  7. Why? I mean, if you're referring to the royalty free music NOT being such... fair enough... but know that they got most of their already-existing music from Kevin MacLeod, whose music can be see on that site (I even hear his music used in some vids on youtube, as faint bg music).
  8. *Did Alt+F4.... realizing what he got himself into* ... there are NO WORDS... to describe my contempt for what you just duped me into doing!
  9. I don't think I can now, since I Alt+F5's for a stupid failed attempt of using a Kerbal's EVA prop to rescue a low-orbiting Kerbal, on Minmus. Anyways, I'll keep that in mind for any future moments of derptitude. Thank you.
  10. Ok, I know the Mobile Lab makes getting science all the more easier, and gives you much more science than if you put all the effort to get a craft to land and (hopefully) come back to Kerbin... but why can't the science you gain from the Mobile Lab count even a little bit to KSC's R&D dept.'s records? I dunno... call it the completionist in me, but I hate seeing blank bars in R&D's records, when it comes to things I know I can't transmit right off the bat (soil samples, and any science tech that won't transmit 1:1). This isn't some "plz nerf this part" kind of gripe, but more of a "I desire feelings of accomplishment, through science" complaint. I'm sorry if I've wasted anyone's time. Thanks in advance.
  11. What I did Yesterday: I was hoping to do more Science on Minmus Base 1, when I accidentally had a Kerbal hit and break one of the swiveling 2x3 Solar panels... I hit F9, THINKING I'd simply go back to that point before... needless to say, it took me all the way back to the last Quicksave, which was a year ago, in-game, JUST as I was getting the Mobile Lab Unit, "Show Pony", to land and "Aerosol" my way to landing glory (and yes, same situation happened). Needless to say, I was rightfully upset, since all my current attempts on my Mum Station went down the tubes, since the contract was gone (same for the Minmus Station). However, I was able to configure the wheels and SAS ring to work the way I needed (and switched control to the docking port) to actually get the Show Pony to ACTUALLY drive (about roughly 8 m/s, until it eventually flips over a few times, but THANKFULLY no damage was done to it, on both times). I was also able to get about 2,000 points of science with everything I either accumulated, or had gotten on Minmus (Midlands EVA and Soil), thanks to the Lab Unit, so thankfully I am now up to where I need to be, as far as parts accessibility goes, and more (got Advanced Science, for mining... sadly the Funds you get from retrieving Ore are... negligibly small [150 units of Ore got me, no joke, 3 Kerbucks in funds]). And also thankfully the reload didn't destroy any craft files I made in the VAB and SPH, so Stations are doable (Hopefully I'll get contracts for them, again).
  12. Yesterday, I started assembly of a new orbiting Fuel Hub around Kerbin (which will slowly expand), and I'm slowly assembling an orbiting Mun Station. I'll say this much, though: Clamp-o-Tron Sr's need to have a stronger pull. I expect bigger docking ports (that are magnetic) to have a stronger pull. I tried probably between 5 to 8 times to get the docks to clamp, and every time they'd weakly bump away from each other. I wasted a lot of Monoprop to do this. Screenshots will soon follow.
  13. Night Time Crickets?! YAAAAASS (still get tired of hearing birds at night, at the KSC... I wanted crickets, frogs, ANYTHING)!!!
  14. Hmmm... it may have just been how my craft was specifically made, on my part, then. Still, it's weird how it's no different for you on whether you landed straight down or aerosoled... yet it was detrimentally important for me. Oh well, it is what it is. Thanks for testing it out.
  15. Ok, as promised, here's the craft with which I "done did" the "Aerosoling". I dubbed it the "Show Pony" (since I needed to make the darned thing "gallop" to the base, since it wasn't quite "heavy" enough to drive it normally).
  16. Mind you, it was part of an airless skycrane, so the "doodad" isn't existant on the current base... BUT I can give you a screenshot of the craft in the VAB.
  17. Last night: Was finally able to get my Mobile Lab unite to Minmus... with two amusing results: 1: Eight Twitch engines might not be QUITE enough for a normal airless Skycrane drop, but if you pivot the craft in a circular motion around the retrograde point, it somehow slows it down better than if you were to have it point straight down at the retrograde. If there isn't a nickname for such a trick, I'm going to call it "Aerosoling" (mostly because it felt like I was making a spray can move in circles). 2: Minmus is NOT the best place for anything with wheels... unless you can figure out how to make a craft "gallop", which I did. It was VERY annoying, but I was able to get it to the 3.5 km (at a 'brisk' pace 1.0 - 2.2 m/s) to the base AND docked up. Oh, the delicious delicious science I did accrue, let me tell YOU (atm, I've transmitted 1,500 Science points, in three 500 point intervals... and I'm not even close to being done, what with a Materials Bay that will give me a fat pile of science, when the rest of the science is used up from the Lab Module). This whole trip to Minmus will has helped me get a lot of new parts (station parts, ore scanning, building material), and it'll help me get a lot more new parts (bigger rockets, better electrics, MORE science, and maybe I'll bother with the Space Plane parts a bit more, for a particularly pesky contract for a far away location on Kerbin).
  18. What I did today: Well... scrapping the Lab Truck Idea, I chose the "airless skycrane" idea for my mobile Lab Module (which is more like... *sigh* an upright trash can with wheels, rather a proper lab vehicle)... everything WAS going well... until the final stage had such poor torque that it slowly spun out of control just KILOMETERS away (direction AND above the surface) from the waypoint on Minmus... I'm just glad there are revert points, because I was raging SO.... HARD!
  19. What I did yesterday: Sent science from around the Mun, changed a satellite's orbit a bit, got a five-Kerbal Minmus, non-mobile Base landed with no problem... and failed, multiple times, to get a Lab truck ALSO landed on Minmus due to center of mass issues (Wanted to use an "airless skycrane" as a final stage to get the truck to and ON Minmus... but the centering for the REST of the payload's travel is an issue). What I did today:.. still figuring out HOW I can get a Lab Module to Minmus that's ALSO mobile, but doesn't HAVE to be a Lab Truck... but also makes use of a docking port (I have some Surface Science I'd like to do research on... help?).
  20. Currently, having a to do a Touring Contract, and two stranded rescue contracts ALL IN ONE LAUNCH (I love fulfilling multiple contracts with one ship)!
  21. Ah, I was wondering why my jet's wheels were making it harder and harder to get around on the ground (excluding the runway)... and why they would eventually stop retracting.
  22. Hmmm, what DIDN'T I do today? Yesterday, I rescued Kerbals from orbit (two at a time, using a three-Kerbal skinny ship)... Today, I took tourists AND rescued Kerbals: two Tourists and one Kerbonaut, and then 6 Tourists (no big sweat), I did a flyby of Minmus AND got science from there AND the Mun (on the way back to Kerbin), did a Keosynchronous orbit with a location and a probe (didn't know it required a full orbit while to get the contract fulfilled)... Then, I FINALLY did an annoying "Haul 'Thumper' boosters into a 350,000-360,000 orbit" with a probe, because I was getting annoyed... OH, I also finally got the mobile lab (with mucho science), ready to make legit science... in orbit (and with all the recued Kerbals, I NEED to take a few out for some permanent orbit lab duties).
  23. Also, if necessary (depending on what parts you're using), disable torque.
  24. I've used 4 Puff engines to slow my descent AND land on Dunian soil, in 1.0 and 1.1 They work fine, for me.
