  1. This is hilarious and deserves more love.
  2. As I said in my linked answer, mitochondria do indeed encode rRNA but the ribosomal proteins are made from nuclear genes.
  3. For what it's worth I largely answered this same question on the Biology StackExchange site, with a little bit more here. tl;dr - It's complicated (THANKS viruses) - Basically, life has ribosomes, non-life doesn't - It doesn't really matter Source - I'm a geneticist/virologist.
  4. You want the excellent QuickScroll: Kerbalstuff Forum
  5. I hate to complain about this, because I love the pack so far, but might it be possible to only have KAB only offer KAB contracts? It's a little confusing to see them offering unrelated contracts - especially since it's such a distinctive logo!
  6. DMagic, I gotta say, this is just a magnificent update. SCANsat has always been wonderful, a cut above, but you've really outdone yourself here. This is just top notch, and I think everyone agrees. For one tiny suggestion, could we get a single toolbar button for the overlay? Toolbar options are the SCAN dropdown, small map, and big map, but I can imagine the overlay being something people might want to save a click to access.
  7. Do you have CrowdSourcedScience installed? This has been reported numerous times in this thread, CSS is the source of the probe reports. Basically, it incorrectly added some experiments it shouldn't have. Redownload the updated version and you should be set.
  8. The answer is to just use Portrait Stats by DMagic, it's perfect.
  9. I got married. That helped a lot. Not sure if I recommend it, though, it's a pretty expensive alternative.
  10. You don't need to go through all of that hassle y'all. In the map mode, if you click on the little Kerbal icon near the vessel info, it will report the crew onboard, as well as their traits and skill levels. OR, you should use DMagi'c EXCELLENT Portrait Stats modlet. It does everything you (and I) wanted. Seriously, just look at it. Go download it right now, I'll wait.
  11. What is the point of doing anything? It's fun! Probes can be easier to design since they're often lighter than providing all that silly space for your Kerbals, and you probably have fewer misgivings about leaving them in space, on a moon, or crashing back into Kerbin. Also, as Kweller said, get SCANsat - it's just awesome.
  12. This. Depends on the rocket but in general: 1. Staging right after SRBs for the reason tater mentions 2. FitH throughout the atmosphere for efficiency/get the hell away from dangerous debris reasons 3. Staging in space because I like the control, especially when transitioning to a lander stage.
  13. Not exactly the same but I usually over-build a rocket, then spend forever trying to make it smaller/more efficient instead of just building it right the first time. Once I unlock the Mammoth I just can't resist using it...
  14. Which is why no company would give it away for free. Cheap, perhaps, but not free. Woo capitalism.
  15. Awesome! Thanks, love it. Always kind of bugged me... In terms of your questions, does this post help? I'm not an MM expert but I believe the # notation, something like %baseValue = #$scienceCap$ might be what you're after.
  16. Yes, those are the only two changes to actual instruments. The Science Lab's function has changed radically, allowing for more total science to be gotten, and you get science points for a successful ISRU scan on each planet/moon.
  17. New version (0.97.1) includes: - Biome sorting - Report a matrix of planet/moon versus condition or test - Ignore pesky asteroids! - Fixes for Tylo MajorCrater biomes - Fix TrackingStationDishSouth biome
  18. Would it be possible to have a different color in the portrait icon for tourists, instead of the same red as pilots? I imagine a gray or purple might do the trick. Maybe brown? Anyway, still lovin' this thing. This really isn't worth your valuable time, but when the portraits slide over, the icons (sometimes?) appear beforehand; the kerbal pictures then slide in behind them.
  19. From what I've seen and experienced, 10.10 versus 10.9 makes a huge difference. Might want to bin based on that...
