  1. This is a great mod, thanks. As of 1.0 I am trying to be a 100% vanilla player on hard career mode difficulty but I'm getting tired of parts I set up to recover disappearing and losing all those hard-earned funds. Squad should already have something like this and they don't.
  2. So I've been doing really well in contract mode so far on hard, and although some aspects (especially in the beginning) are a grind I like the unique challenges of them. With that being said, I think contracts need to be more logically given. For example, I am now just starting to explore Duna. The ONLY thing I have done up to this point regarding Duna is send a probe there, which crashed because I didn't do the parachutes right. Before you know it, the KSP agency is assigning me contracts to take tourist on vacation to Duna and freaking LAND them there. Really?? That sounds about as bad of an idea as the real life "Mars One" mission. Forget rovers, forget the historic first steps on Duna. Let's just send tourist there already. Not to mention, for whatever reason I am not allowed to unlock the MK2 command pod yet in the tech tree, so I can't even transport that many Kerbals into space at once! You know, I don't mind playing the game in a progressive manner, but I think the contracts need to better match where you are in the game. It doesn't make sense to ask me to take Kerbals to land on Duna when I haven't even done so with a regular kerbalnaut yet. Yes, you can decline the contracts, but still, some of them are completely illogical. Honestly, I don't think there should be ANY tourist missions until way later in the game, when you have a lot of experience and parts unlocked to do so. It seems ridiculous to be taking tourist to Duna so early. That's just my opinion.
  3. Yes that's it, thanks, it's the K2 command pod.
  4. A few days ago I was looking at a mod on these forums, it was a two seater Mecury capsule. I'm playing on hard career mode right now and wnt to go to Duna, I have the whole one side of the tech tree unlocked but it won't let me unlock the MK-2 pod yet, I need something with more seats! Does anyone know what mod I am talking about and can give me a link? It wasn't part of the FASA plugin or whatever that one is called, I'm 90% sure it was a single mod separate from that. Any similar mod that is a two seater that will work in 1.0 I would like, a capsule. I've also used the Apollo command pod in the past I'm not sure if that is 1.0 compatible. I really wanted this Mercury one if possible, sounds like a "fair" mod for me to use that isn't bypassing the contracts/science too much. I don't want to have too many mods installed, I'm trying to keep as vanilla as possible but at this point I really need a ship with more than one seat. Thanks.
  5. Interesting. I should have noted I am also playing on hardcore career mode. I've barely left the Kerbin system. I send an unmanned lander to Duna but my parachutes didn't work the same and it crashed pretty hard, but the top survived luckily to record that important science data. I didn't get to do a science jr. but a temp and pressure scan for easy science points. Eve, one of you made an interesting point with the engineer and the new refueling abilities. I'm going to have to start sending probes there and see what I can pull off.
  6. I've seen a few people getting contracts related to Eve. Has anyone actually attempted Eve yet with the 1.0 overhaul in a return mission of some sorts? I've put nearly a 1,000 hours into this game as of today and in the older versions of KSP, I never successfully got a ship to return from Eve, just such a monstrosity of a mission and time consuming to build the appropriate vessel for. I'm wondering if it got easier in the update. I see some people saying it takes less delta V now but I don't see how that is possible when rockets are now more dramatically affected in atmosphere.
  7. LOL I have not seen any of these, perform seismic surveys near site MILF. I laughed at that Eve one you posted above as well, what a ridiculous mission if I've ever seen one. If it's already brutally difficult to escape Eve. Why don't they just complicate it a little more and as you to land on a specific site near a lake bed to get the ore while they are at it?!
  8. I like "the Mun". I think the problem, like most others, if you a grizzled veteran at this game, there is nothing special about the Mun whatsoever. It's a barren rock and easy to conquer after a while.
  9. Honestly I fear for new players. So far this update seems very deep/complicated. I have to say when I first played this game several years ago, I did not like it because of the learning curve. And with even more complicated features and now "atmospheres" added, it gets even more difficult.
  10. Besides reading stats have you actually played the game in 1.0? Because to my understanding and from actually played, they did some major modifications to the physiques engine and how ISP works in vacuum. Some of the stats have gone down but they actually perform better/more efficiently/different than previous when in a vacuum. So far, SRBs to me feel buffed if anything with the new atmospheric changes. A single SRB takes me all the way into space and then some beyond 200km out! The LVT-45 also feels more fuel-efficient now in space, a lot of the engines do actually. I suggest you just try some of them out and see how it actually "feels" in the game besides what the stats say.
  11. Okay, I agree that it's ugly but I also prefer it somewhat over the windows mouse. I would like something a little nicer.
  12. Some have questioned here why I chose to play the game this way with the "grind". Well, for me, I have played this game over 700 hours while it was still in alpha/beta (mostly alpha). For me, KSP was getting TOO easy. I could make a trip to the Mun look like going out to check my mailbox on the road. It was starting to get kind of boring, actually. I pretty much conquered every planet including Eve. This is a different challenge; being forced to use certain, lower-tier parts without maneuver nodes or flight engineer to try to get to some of these planets. I am enjoying the challenge so far. Once you get past the grind of the beginning and have the launch pad upgrade, things start to go more smoothly. I just made my second trip to the Mun without the maneuver nodes including flying over a specific location, had to point the ship radial and figured it out on my own.
  13. I'm sorry, but this is definitely a crappy but that needs fixed. More than one occasion now, I have had the simple starting command pod with just the heatshield and parachute and it wants to flip uncontrollably during reentry every time without SAS engaged. I've tried multiple re-entry speeds and angles as well, I've had dozens of orbital flights now including a return from the Mun's orbit. Everytime the ships want to lose control, whether there is a pilot on board or a non-pilot (I went to the Mun once with Bill Kerman). It is unrealistic and annoying to see the pod flip so easily on reentry with the new physics system. That was the whole purpose of the teardrop capsule design during the early space flights of NASA. As a matter of fact, I believe their pods had a slight offset center of mass. I'm disappointed so far with reentry.
  14. I don't recall this in the previous updates of the game but I could be wrong, but now in career mode with contracts, there are contracts to take kerbal tourist out on tours to plays like Kerbin orbit and the Mun. This honestly makes absolutely no sense early on in career, especially in hard mode. There are no ships/parts that can hold more than one kerbal at a time. Apart from this, learning the new aerodynamics and everything, it just seems really bizarre to have so many of those contracts come up so early in the game with no adequate ships to do so. I love the idea, I think it just needed better placing, say after you have the MK-2 pod unlocked at least. It's kind of pointless to me right now.
  15. I started a brand new game with zero mods for the update. I see a lot of people here already building massive rockets (probably) in sandbox mode as well as others "complaining" about the latest update, when I don't think they realize how deep squad went with the career mode in the beginning. I wanted to know who on here is playing "legit" in hard with zero mods in the standard career mode?? It took me about 5+ hours of grinding, building simple rockets and mind numbing early contracts. It took me HOURS to get just into Kerbin orbit. Eventually I was able to get to the mun (just for an orbit), and that was after exploiting a free/early SRB upgrade from one of the contracts that gave me, it gave me access to the S1 SRB-KD25k.I used two of those babies and they jolted my ship up to an early 180k high orbit that I used to trek to the mun with. Then to make it more complicated; no maneuver nodes or intercepts on the orbital map! In fact, it won't even tell you if you have a lunar intercept, making it extremely complicated to get into orbit very early on. Eventually I did, and then when I tried to leave munar orbit it didn't tell me when or where I was in Kerbin's orbit again! Very interesting to say the least... I wanted to know how many others actually got this deep into the new career. I think people may appreciate this update more if they just immediately didn't try to jump straight into the whole picture again.
  16. OP - I had a very lucrative career on KSP, my last one I put about 400~ hours into. I landed everywhere and did everything. But long ago I accepted that this update, it's going to significantly change the game, so I quit playing for months up to this update and started a fresh new game with zero mods.
  17. I for one am really enjoying the update so far. Unlike many others, I took a 2-3 month break from this game, I haven't touched it most of this year since beta actually. I did this specifically because I knew they were reworking significant parts of the game. That means old ships, saves, mods, and everything inbetween may not work anymore. Tonight is the first time I started up the game in a long time and I started with a clean slate; no mods, no old saves, brand new career mode, relearning the new physiques engine. So far, I really like it.
  18. Hello, First and foremost, I have upmost confidence and would bet money on it that KSP did NOT harm your computer. I don't know why you would consider such a thing. Like others have said, if you have a legitimate copy of the game you got through their website or steam, chances are these two events are completely unrelated. Number two - as a computer enthusiast with a water cooled computer who is also an IT professional maybe I can offer some help. Let's start with something very blatantly obvious. How old is your computer? Is this a desktop? If it's been several years, there is a chance that your CMOS battery on your motherboard. It is that round quartz battery that saves your BIOS settings and other basic start up settings of a computer. They do go dead after a while and need replaced. I would start there. Also have you cleaned the computer in a while? Dust and cobwebs can't do you any good for basic problems. Also you noted the "CPU" tries to turn on. Maybe you should try replacing the thermal paste on your CPU and possibly getting a new CPU fan. Bad RAM (probably the LEAST like thing) could cause start up issues as well, especially with BIOS. Good luck.
  19. This. I have a very high end computer (custom built with water cooling) and stations lagged like a mother on my PC. It's kind of disappointing.
  20. I think someone else posted it here, but yes, it cost about $10,000 USD to put one pound of something into orbit. Elon Musk's Space X rocket is far from perfected to lower the cost of space launches anytime soon. The bottom line is, why would we want to do this? Personally, I don't like people putting junk into orbit around Earth, that includes mementos, ashes of dead people, and other things that don't belong there. In the end, it's space debris, which can be a hazard for future space explorers. Personally, I do appreciate KSP, and I feel that the game should have a plaque/flag put on another world instead. Something that won't fade or deteriorate in the environment of space. Maybe on Mars, they should make a small kerbal face for the easter egg one located on Duna in the game. Why can't we dream big? Let's put a KSP memento on another world!
  21. Okay, I haven't played in a good month at least but I wanted to add in on the 1.0 feedback. TBH, I find it a bit troubling that you guys are coming back asking us what things you potentially want to drop from the 1.0 update and save for the 1.1 update instead... My Reasonable 1.0 Request Here is what I feel should be mandatory includes for the 1.0 update... you dev's don't know me personally, but I am also an indie developer and highly regarded/experience programmer, and I have spent at least 700 hours on your game by now. Here is what I feel you guys should be releasing with 1.0 in order from highest to least priority: 1) Aerodynamics overhaul - this is the big thing we were promised with this update. The current aerodynamics is bad. Part of this game isn't that it's just a space game but an airplane game as well. I think the aerodynamics need to be more realistic. It would give us a lot more reason to use parts that make rockets more aerodynamic as well. This is something that should be included in the "full post beta release" of the game. 2) Reentry heat - When I very first played KSP, I found it really strange (and dumb) why my ship didn't disintegrate in the atmosphere or anything. Reentry is the most terrifying part of a real life space voyage, yet KSP plays it off casually like it's nothing. I think the game should match. I think we need an official deadly reentry built into the game, that also includes realistic/deadly g-force like the current "deadly reentry mod". I'm not sure why this is even a question at this point to not include. 3) Mining - I heard this was another promised feature to us, maybe I'm wrong. But I would like a mining capability added to the game as an official new feature. 4) Stability fixes - is it too much to ask for stability with lot of mods? I know mods are out of your control officially, BUT... you guys made a VERY mod oriented game, and nothing urks me more than when my high end, water cooled deskop computer with the latest software and hardware crashes because of memory limits of this game. I'm sorry, but the excuse of Unity limiting the games memory is not an excuse anymore. You guys should find workaround for their framework to allow more memory with this game. I'm a programmer and software engineer, and I know when it comes to programming anything is possible if you put your mind to it. 4) Female Kerbals and enhanced EVA suits - I'm sure it's already coming, but I think many of us would be disappointed if these things didn't come with the 1.0 update. My Personal Wish List These are things that I personally wish would be added or changed in KSP... probably won't happen but it doesn't hurt to put it out there. 1) More science parts and things to spend science on - at one point when you unlock everything in the tech tree, science almost becomes useless. Can't we get an overhaul here? 2) Less emphasis on career mode, more emphasis on science, exploration, and more rocket parts 2) FIXED DOCKING PORT WOBBLING 3) Saturn - there is one great mod that added a Saturn analog to the game (Sarnus), can we get an official Saturn added to the game, though? How could you skip the coolest planet in our solar system for an explorable KSP world with one of the most interesting moons (Titan)?! 4) 5M parts - KW Rocketry is a great parts pack, sometimes I feel it should be officially included in the game. It contains 5M parts, cone-shaped fuel tanks, and more RCS blocks.
  22. That's not English, it's Englinese.
  23. LOL, I think the Kerbals need to relocate to another solar system on your game...
  24. Hello KSP community, What better place to ask this question! If you guys keep up with space news, NASA's space craft "DAWN" has been entering orbit around the dwarf planet Ceres this past month. I am slightly confused by the images it is releasing. This is Ceres per some Hubble color images taken years ago below. As you can see, the moon as a white/orange hue with a blue rim. Yet, all the images from DAWN so far has been grayscale. I wanted to ask (if anyone even knows), does DAWN even have true-color cameras equipped? Better yet - is Ceres really "gray" or is it more like this spooky colored Hubble image? I want to see accurate color images, and if it hasn't taken any I can only speculate that either it isn't going to take color images (which is stupid IMO to spend millions on such a mission and not attach a color-capable camera) or Ceresa is really just a boring, gray rock and the Hubble image is in accurate for whatever reason.
  25. Wow. Just wow. No offense, but I despise the MLP-Kerbal crossover stuff you are posting. That is cancerous and I would not date anyone that watches that horrendous stuff. MLP is the cutoff point for me.
