  1. Following a lengthy and tedious process of slowing the craft down for a Munar landing, I touched it down momentarily. The craft then sent itself flying off on a tangeant and crashed before control could be regained. 12 families recieved telegraphs.
  2. You were also exploring details that didn\'t need to be explored. The fact that its balanced in atmosphere was irrelavent. That you were agreeing with me is agreeable.
  3. I was talking with my Dad about your spacecraft. Whilst my original problem with it was the solar panels losing energy away from Kerbol, my Dad mentioned how by the time you lose power to your cryo control systems, you gain absolute zero from space, and your controlled cryo freeze has prevented damaging ice-crystal formulation. However, my Dad said the real problem was insulation and radiation once you reach the new star system, as the few watts you get from your panels won\'t get you enough energy to your fridges to overcome the kW of heat getting into your craft. Despite my irritation with your means of getting it into space, I can\'t say its against the rules.
  4. Currently working on a way of slowiing it down for Munar landing. Last attempt, I waited far too long and had a \'road traffic collision\'.
  5. At 180 points you might have been successful.
  6. Your splitting hairs that need not be split. The challenges are all out of atmosphere.
  7. 7 humans is all you need for a genetic pool that can be varied enough to minoritise inbreeding as a problem. There are six habitation modules there, and assuming each carries two Kerbals, that\'s twelve of them. Assuming the cockpit is then used as an oxygen garden with vegetables/grass to eat, they can survive there. A tiny little community on the Mun with no hope of escape. And in any case, 707 said \'as many habitation modules as possible\'. This is because the Kerbals want as many people as possible on a single escape ship, but that doesn\'t mean that there aren\'t other evacuation ships. And anyway, I haven\'t seen your version of the Pandorum yet. Assuming that\'s the name of the ship.
  8. C7 violates the \'balanced mods\' rule. Ask Tim_Barrett.
  9. Kestrel proved too weak to carry it. However, I have used a Sunbird I ascent stage, and the C7 large cockpit to create this ugly hybrid: Its supposed to have a satellite on the nose which has solar panels on it, but its made from a decoupler. So I need to give it an extra stage of its own. As you can see, it has the fuel to reach Mun. All I have to do now it get it there and land it.
  10. I would think that the way they work is by acting as a gyroscoe. Albeit a bloody owerful one.
  11. Working on this. It will be difficult though. Thinking of using the Kestrel as a freighter to carry the hab\'s into Munar orbit.
  12. ASAS isn\'t always as useful as SAS. And the 2m RCS tank made the whole thing too heavy.
  13. Spot The Difference -No landing gear -ASAS moved to rear -ASAS is Mk2, not Mk3 -LVT-31 engine -Parachute nosecone I think that\'s it. And I\'ll bear that in mind, Tim. Though I used the current nosecone because it covers up an SAS and an RCS tank which would look more ugly without it.
  14. The Veto Aerospace Kittiwake is an unusual design for VA, featuring wing-mounted nascelle design fuel tanks, held on with strut connectors. It uses a single Aerospike engine for propulsion, and a landing gear of no less than six sets of wheels. However, as is common among VA spaceworthy aircraft, it features a heavy duty RCS for a controlled landing. Due to weaknesses in the attachment, the nascelles usually fall off the centre wings during landing, though it is possibly to be gentle enough to prevent this. Obviously taking off again would be another matter. Attempting the fly the fuselage away is not recommended, as it is inherently unstable. It is planned that the Kittiwake will carry two Avia ballistic missiles, two times as many as the Albatross or Gannet. Its flight range is currently unknown. Unlike the Albatross, it has very good lateral maneuverability. Kittiwake in flight. The Kittiwake\'s fuselage. The nascelles shown away from craft after landing
  15. As I don\'t know what mods will need to be installed, here\'s is the mod list for my Sunbird II Ascent Stage and the file download for it. Someone else will have to fit it. [after rebuilding it onto their own rocket, of course.] -C7 Flight Pack -SIDR -VA/SIDR SAS [because for some reason the SIDR 1.75 SAS is only as powerful as the 1 meter SAS] -Omnivore RCS tanks Just tested it again. It reached orbital velocity no problem, after throttling down at 25Km, RCS on, heading east, full burn. RCS off after reaching orbital velocity. It still had enough fuel to move the periapsis above the atmosphere when it has to prepare for the Munar burn. And so, this small capsule becomes a small moon.
  16. No overheating or exhaust damage has been recorded as being caused by the Avia before, during or after launch. Not until it detonates, anyway.
  17. Thanks to the success of the Avia missile on the Gannet amphibious launch platform, Veto Aerospace has released a second in the series - the Albatross. With its massive wingspan, long glide time, low fuel consumption and high max landing speed [65 m/s], this craft is a must-have for any military\'s long-range aerial bombing unit. Because the Albatross is designed to launch its payload in air, as opposed to the Gannet at sea-level, the craft has a much longer bombing range. However, it is less accurate. The Albatross is a very stable aircraft, with forward V-wings above the massive delta-style main wings keeping the craft from tipping over forwards. It does have one or two flight quirks, such as its reluctance to turn unless by banking, and its tendacy to dip forwards at 2X warp. However, it is a very impressive machine, and it gets the thumbs up from our pilots.
  18. Oh dear. Oh, Ascensiam, the sentance under your avatar suggests that you would enjoy a flight on one of Veto Aerospace\'s Kestrel IIs on a Mun mission.
  19. Unobtanium? Those folks over at Pandora just don\'t understand physics. You can\'t turn an extreme heat/pressure to energy converting material into rocket fuel.
  20. They all do that on reentry. Its incredibly annoying with much larger craft.
  21. Phew. For a moment there I was afraid I would hae to draw on all the knowledge and expertise [oh dear] of Veto Aerospace in a bid to create a weapon capable or preventing my immenent destruction by Pretzel-class A-bombs. Oh wait, I have my Predator weapons platforms to protect me.
  22. Aside from spaceplanes having the ability to get to LKO, then drop down further than any aircraft could [trust me, it was the only way for me to get an S/VTOL VA Sparrowhawk to the tiny island on Kersica [sorry Nova, but there isn\'t a better recognised name], they can also get much further into space. I landed my VA Kestrel on Mun, and then brought it back to Kerbin. The crew survived the landing, and most of the expensive stuff was intact. Though making aircraft is still fun.
