  1. Thanks for reporting the issue. I have replaced every download with a new version 1.71 which includes all the recent changes. Could you try it and let me know if it works? http://spacedock.info/mod/694/Canadarm
  2. OK. To make sure, could you please open the End.cfg with a texteditor (notepad) and double check if this part is in there: MODULE { name = JSIExternalCameraSelector cameraContainer = Cameraa rotateCamera = 90,180,0 cameraIDPrefix = ExtCam }
  3. Hi @DavidHunter Are you sure you have installed the latest version of the arm? In the previous version there was something wrong with the RPM config so I disabled RPM temporarily.
  4. There is a problem with MBM textures since the latest update. TGA works and you can convert TGA to DDS.
  5. Updated to v0.15 Added SAS buttons Upped textures resolution Textures converted to DDS (way better performance) Download: https://github.com/Jeast85/Space-Shuttle-IVA/releases/tag/v0.15 I created a fun little video showing a complete mission, from launch to landing, in the IVA. The landing was tricky without joystick and with a test model lined up on the runway.
  6. You are right. Its textures. I was using too many 4k textures. I tried reducing them a bit together with reducing polies (which is not doing a lot it seems indeed) and its a bit better.
  7. I have uploaded the first test version. The front dashboard and pedestal are almost done. Same for the HUD and MFD's which are working. If you want to give it a try, please let me know if you have any feedback, bugs and suggestions. Beware, its a very early version! The instruments (MFD's and HUD) are working well enough to be able to do a complete IVA mission. Textures are not compressed to DDS yet, this I will do when done texturing. beware: large file size and very unoptimized. The cockpit comes in the stock MK3 cockpit at this time. You can find a copy (named MK3 + IVA) in your parts list. Download link: https://github.com/Jeast85/Space-Shuttle-IVA/releases Again: Feedack is very much appreciated.
  8. I have bad news and good news. Bad news is that the IVA's performance was not very great due to too high polycount. So I have disambled everything and I'm optimizing/baking and replacing everything part by part. So its going to take a little bit longer to complete. The good news is that I have split the IVA up in parts so I can do pre-releases in separate parts. The frontpanel and pedestal are almost done. I will finish those (retexture and create RPM props) and release them for testing while I continue on the other parts. That is actually a great idea. I will see whats possible when the cockpit itself is done.
  9. @Ziw Thank you for your suggestion. I don't think the power and breaking force are the problem, they are set really high. I think its the angle (FwdDot and RollDot). They are set so that you have to point the magnet almost straight at the object. I will increase the angle to maybe 10 degrees, see how that works out.
  10. I always try to make sure that the effector is as close as possible to being perpendicular to the object. This seems to give the best result.
  11. Updated. See first post for the download links. ******************************** ****** CHANGELOG ****** ******************************* v1.7 Features --Grappling port added BugFixes --RPM fixed and re-enabled
  12. Yes indeed. It is maybe a bit more finicky to grab something with the magnet, but once it is attached it will hold on forever.
  13. Well I did a couple of tests. The newly added grapple port works fine. Its an alternative, the magnet is still there as well. My tests show that the magnet is still the most strong and steady way to grab stuff but choice is always good. Fun thing about the grapple ports is that you can attach them on EVA using KIS/KAS. A couple of pics, 2 showing the new port and 1 showing the magnet in action on a pretty heavy object without any problem @KhaosCorp
  14. I have made a grappling port which works beside the magnet. It uses a docking mechanic. I will upload it today or tomorrow when I have completed the surf attach part for the shoulder. Just to make sure, you did switch on the magnet by right clicking on the End? ;-)
  15. I could add 2 parts. A small docking port for the Canadarm to attach to, which will be placeable using KIS/KAS. You can then chose if you want to use the magnet or the port system. The second part will be a part which you can surf attach and attach the arm shoulder part to. How's that?
  16. The arm will not pick up anything up that is attached to itself. Its a bit weird but you have to be sure you have undocked the part from your shuttle first before you can pick it up. I have used this arm quite a lot and never ever could it not hold on to anything of any mass that fitted into the CB, UNLESS you run out of electric power. Did you make sure you had enough power for the complete movement? Moving the arm and using the magnet itself uses power. As for the surf attach, there is a mod called Kanadarm2 which is surf attachable, thats the one fitted for what you are asking for. That one also uses the berthing system. The Canadarm 1 is a pure shuttle arm. You could possibly do something with KAS/KIS by placing a smal structural attachement block (not sure how its called exactly, but the smal metal cube part) and try to attach the arm to that node? The speed is tweaked to be somewhat realistic. This also is one of the foundations of its stabilty. You could try to tweak it if you want it to move faster, its one line in the CFG. Thanks for your message, if you have concrete sugestions on how to improve this arm, I'm all ears Yes it wil work with 1.1.2. I wil look into placing it on Spacedock.
  17. I have found the problem. Its in RPM doing weird stuff to the two camera parts. I disabled RPM for the moment. https://github.com/Jeast85/Canadarm/releases/tag/v1.62
  18. @Cuky I have tried to replicate the problem, but I could not find it. I used stock parts (MK3) and placing the arm parts did not change anything to the CoM (center of mass). The arm parts itself are very light (mass of 0.03). Could the problem be caused by something else? * I think I have found something. Did you mean that while ascending, the camera moves backwards behind the shuttle?
  19. Thanks. I will get back 2 you asap.
  20. What shuttle setup are you using? Stock?
  21. It can be used for every pod you like by adding a line to the MM config.
  22. I have been working on this for quite a while (with periods of up and downs due to real life matters being in the way) and its closing in to a point where its going to be releasable for testing (we are talking days here). As this cockpit is going to be pretty complex, I would like to have people testing this and supplying me with feedback. Features: Custom RPM props (MFD's, HUD, Gearpanel, RCS panel) to mimick the Shuttle counterparts as close as possible Cargobay windows view to control the Canadarm from the IVA I will use this topic to upload the testable IVA soon, keep track of feedback and post updates. Test version: v0.1 Features: Front dashboard (textures 70% done) Pedestal (textures 50% done) Working MFD's (model + textures done, MFD pages 30% done) Working HUD (textures done, horizon height = w.i.p.) Download link: https://github.com/Jeast85/Space-Shuttle-IVA/releases
  23. The Space Shuttle IVA is going to be available for testing soon as well!
