  1. Ahh. Thank you for this, I never would have thought to look in there. It's pretty cool that the mods can communicate with and configure eachother. It seems to be working the way I would expect now, thank you for your suggestion.
  2. We've already seen SpaceX hack into Scott Manley's PC and swap out his live KSP session with video of the re-usable first stage trying to land on a barge. I'm not saying it's Scott's fault that the crash was IDENTICAL to what actually happened. I'm sure it's just coincidence. Yep. Nothing to see here. Move along.
  3. I have a question... I have installed this just now alongside the latest OuterPlanets and DistantObjects mods. I deliberately deleted all my saved games, and started a new career game. When I go to the tracking centre I can see all of the *stock* KSP planets (apart from Jools moons) immediately. The OuterPlanets mod planets are all hidden to begin with as one would expect. Is this what is meant to happen? The KottabosGames youtube video just shows Kerbin and not much else. Did I install it wrong? Or is this some ironic conflict with DistantObjects undoing all the hard work done by the ResearchBodies mod? This isn't a major problem really but I wanted to see less stuff to begin with, as suggested by the Kottabos video.
  4. The Pegasus is a thing of beauty. I wish my feeble brain could imagine such things. Bravo.
  5. A long series of missions might obtain a sufficient quantity of natural resources from the Dres-orbiting asteroids to provide the basis of a "Colonise Dres" mission. Dres has long been overlooked by explorers -- because it is boringly situated right in the middle of the Sun's habitable zone. Duna is a harsh landing and Eve is full of tourists. Dres is boring enough to make a good scientific platform.
  6. I've been playing KSP for probably 18 months now and I've never once been to Dres. Or Moho for that matter. Or most of Jools moons (been to Laythe once and crashed on Tylo). Perhaps a story about Dres or Moho would encourage me to go there. I voted Dres because I feel sorry for the Lonely Space Potato* *Sorry, I shouldn't anthropomorphise planets (they don't like it).
  7. Hmm, this thread wasn't intended to be a question. It was just a slightly amusing anecdote. Somehow it got moved into a serious forum. *shrug* Mods, delete it if you like.
  8. Oh, yeah it must be a typo! That's it! I'm saved, woohooo!!! Do you think the shareholders'll buy that? Yeah, they probably will. Might give the Koviets a call anyway just to be on the safe side.
  9. Just embarked on a major mission to rescue 3 stranded kerbonauts all orbiting the Mun. Spent a lot of time on the build, minimalist yet efficient and with sensible fuel reserves. Launched the ship and it flies well, got into Munar orbit and just realised that I have a grand total of 00,000,001 funds left in the bank. This mission may well be my last! May have to defect to the East if this mission goes awry.
  10. As a professional (pfffft!) software developer of many years I can sense how happy this makes the dev team. That is a major win. One of the big frustrations with writing and rewriting code all day long is the jarring mental gearshifts that happen at the start and end of a long delay in a program's execution. It's like a long set of commercials in the middle of an exciting movie. This will no doubt improve the quality of life not only for KSP players (which is seriously awesome in itself) but for the heroic team of talented developers. Good work!
  11. I tend to run KSP with Kerbal Eng Redux and pretty much nothing else, the latest version runs smooth as silk for my mid-range gaming PC. I have zero complaints about KSPs performance. Generally I'm astounded that it can cope with my naive designs. It copes well and seldom crashes. A splendid product.
  12. I once ripped off half of my thumbnail "decoupling" the rear wheel of my mountain bike during a routine maintenance procedure. I passed out briefly but survived the landing. I guess that counts. FYI, be VERY VERY careful with hand-operated quick release wheel clamps. It was a sensation that does not lend itself to civilised description, but "ouch" doesn't cover it.
  13. Also useful for those who suffer from Space Haemorrhoids on those pesky long duration flights. I can see the promotional material now... Saw Kraken? Try new, improved Ballutes today!* *May cause nausea, migraine, diminished periapsis, suicidal burn tendencies. Terms and Conditions apply.
  14. How does one activate this easter egg? I'm currently building a ship to rush out there and see this for myself, do I need any special equipment on my ship (special antennas or science gear)? Can't wait to get there. *runs off to find a treasure map for Duna*
  15. This will never be a part of KSP proper. The spacetape manufacturers will not allow it, in the same way that the oil companies on Earth will never allow electric vehicles to be viable.
  16. Well, only if there's some doubt about the possibility of completing the challenge. This is certainly possible. May I suggest a small alteration to the difficulty curve? Since Minmus and the Mun are both about the same difficulty, how about making a new difficulty level for "both Mun and Minmus in the same flight"? That would be pretty fun.
  17. Crashed at Temple, God thus nonexistent.
  18. 1TB spinny metal for me. I'm surprised that SSDs are in the majority. Perhaps I'm living in the past! Might treat myself this xmas.
  19. I experienced kessler syndrome the other day when I fatfingered the "Z" key instead of "A" while docking two very large ships with big engines.
  20. There are some great ones in here, although the ones that look like GTA box art, or ones that feature Star Wars fonts are probably on shaky ground. I think there's enough content in the game that can be used so we don't have to resort to intellectual property that belongs to super-rich game companies or litigious movie producers. Regardless, great work guys, keep the creativity going!
  21. A radial decoupler was on the first stage and when I launched I found that only 2 of my 3 engines was still attached to the rocket. Consequently the rocket arced over towards the VAB, then flew over the VAB then kept turning and smashed into the VAB on the side that faces away from the launchpad. The VAB went away. Very funny and sad.
