This is probably my only gripe with KSP 2 so far. It just seems not right that HarvesteR wasn't even informed that it was being made, despite being the one who came up with KSP in the first place. I get that he's not on the team anymore, but it just seems like common decency.

Feature or DLC Request: Red Kerbals & Military Division
Frozen_Heart replied to Abyss's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I hope not. Yeah we make military replicas, but at heart KSP is not a military game and should stay that way. Weapons are something I never want to see added at all. This is coming from someone who is involved in the KSP naval battle club too.- 35 replies

One thing which I have really enjoyed about KSP is the fact that the devs have been right here with us the entire time. They will talk with us and take community input into consideration. Most games aren't like this and we have been extremely lucky in that regard. Will the community continue to be important in KSP 2, and will the new devs be as open as they have been in KSP? It would be a shame to lose such a great thing about the development of KSP.

They definitely have closely based it off existing KSP assets, and you are probably right they started developing it shortly after Take Two acquired it. Interestingly they seem to have taken the KSP parts directly and updated them. This can be seen with the old poodle model which seems to be in game. Must have been taken from a version before the new one was introduced. Still wondering if the new poodle model will make it in.

Am I the only one who dislikes the new versions of KSP?
Frozen_Heart replied to xXKSP_playerXx's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've felt that they've just got better over time. -
I hope not. Yeah it's technically more accurate, but it's not fun. Having to constantly juggle your 200 varying missions to adjust their orbits constant would get old and boring fast. KSP is successful as it takes the basics of spaceflight and makes it accessible to the masses. N body physics goes against that.

Noticed on the trailer the old poodle was being used. Is this just a placeholder, or the actual planned engine? Was hoping to see a more realistic take on the parts appearances this time around.

EDIT - this is not goodbye to Squad!
Frozen_Heart replied to theJesuit's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Squad have done such a good job with KSP 1, over all the generations of team members. Will be sad to see them go. -
I hope K-Drives make it over...

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
Frozen_Heart replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Don't think the Kraken is involved here. Just good old fashioned uneven lift/drag values. I'm tempted to make a ship using both though. One to get the thing moving and into their air, and the other for reaching orbit and work in space. -

Little trick I copied from pds314. I don't understand it, but once it's got moving this plane can fly without power. Still investigating and trying to learn how it works. -

Not sure if this counts, but I've managed to make something spin without electric power. You can adjust the torque using pistons. Not sure if it's useful... -
Stock BG KerboProp Aircraft Speed Challenge!
Frozen_Heart replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Manged 298m/s but not managed to land the thing or keep it steady enough for the entire 10 seconds yet. Needs some refining still. -

Stock BG KerboProp Aircraft Speed Challenge!

Ok here is my entry: The Pr-1C Biplane. Yes it's kind of a joke entry, but that's still first on the LF leaderboard -
Stock BG KerboProp Aircraft Speed Challenge!
Frozen_Heart replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Got about 150m/s with the Pr-1C Biplane. Was too uncontrollable to keep it steady for long enough to get faster. Will put up the vid tomorrow as taking a few hours to upload. -

Playing with the new props. Decided to make a simple biplane. Torque is mapped to the throttle, and it has a simple two blade fixed pitch prop. Top speed is 90m/s. -

Nice you've beaten my top speed. 266m/s is as far as I've got. -

*Happy K-Drive noises* This. Changes. Everything. Single craft K-Drives are now possible to build, and no longer have to be two different ships. In addition pistons can control their thrust, rather than being a simple on and off landing gear system. I look forward to seeing what people can do with them now! -

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
Frozen_Heart replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hmm even the strongest hinges aren't tough enough to act as landing legs. The design is still placeholder, but just can't work out how to make them withstand the mass of the ship. The cargo bay works great though.
