  1. Changing scenes causes ram-usage to jump? Ok, I didn't know that. Nothing I can do about that then. Except trying to avoid to switch scenes (or be more aware when I do). I read about a memoryleak, just didn't know where it was. I'll try installing that GCmonitor and maybe see what is happening. I'm a regular visitor of the helpthreads, reading (trying to understand) them instead of playing (which is a challenge in itself, because I have to learn new stuff again, constantly hitting walls ... I don't want to become a computerwizz to play a game though :-p ) The overclock is done with easytune (I'm not going to mess with voltages and stuff on my own (not enough knowledge)). I'll try setting it to normal again and see if it makes a difference. (although the overclock is one provided by the manufacturer? (Gigabyte)) It doesn't give me any problems on Arma (2 and) 3 (which are the the actual reason to use a higher frequency) or other games (ClOD, Take On Mars, etc). Maybe removing some dust (blowing it out is also a good idea, although I can't really see any dust in my case (I can't see in the inside ofcourse). I have no debris, spent stages are dropped on a suborbital trajectory (the ones I missed, can't deorbit, I delete in the trackingstation). I'm on day 14 (ingame), I hardly use the timewarp (max I've done is the 5th arrowwarp (x 1000?) for maybe an hour max, ussually to get a contract to complete or get to a node, always several/many contracts/missions at the same time (thank god for the alarmclock). First reasonable window to do a flyby to Moho (just a simple probe with some sciencestuff and basic sattelites and relay to Kerbin (flightcomputer will probably need to do the actual manoeuvre at Moho to get the sattelites into an orbit (may be out of range), not enough dV to get back to Kerbin (planning on trying to slingshot around Eve to make a return to Kerbin with some science (won't be timewarping, just doing other stuff until the alarm tells me when I have to do something)). Probably (highly likely) this won't work very well, but this mission is allowed to fail (it's not a contract or anything, just early exploring). Understandably, I'd like to have some degree of confidence that I can actually try this (so the vessel is not allowed to dissapear or blow up for no reason). Uncertainty is part of the deal here, enough stuff can go wrong already. Ok, yes, the title is misleading (didn't really think about that at the time, I was just venting). What I mean is that I care less when playing sandbox/testinggrounds (just hyperedit the missing stuff and get on with it). Using hyperedit in career is cheating (My game, my rules ;-) I could always imagine that the vessel got hit by some spacejunk, micrometeorites, radiation or whatever, losing some % would be normal, but it happens too often). A sattelite or whatever that doesn't work because of a designflaw ... too bad, pay more attention next time, or do more testing at KSC.
  2. I didn't complain about KSP being to slow or a broken careermode. I complained about not being able to find a stable configuration. Also, I don't think that those are too many mods ... How are people able to play RSS with RO then? Total amount of mods is a lot higher?
  3. No rant today ... and I apologize for the one yesterday ... And yes, ofcourse I use mods (sorry, but the stockgame is still seriously lacking on content (on which people are working, so I understand, not complaining)). It's nobodies fault that I don't manage to find a stable configuration (I just don't understand why it is stable for a while and then the next day it no longer seems to be, which is obviously very frustrating). Wrong section for the following, I know, but just to show that I'm not overdoing things (or atleast I think I am not): I'm already using ATM, opengl, etc. Most mods add contracts, Dmagic science and scansat, mechjeb, FAR, UKS (because I want to build a base eventually), OPM, the visual enhancement (no planetshine), remote tech, then some parts (KAS, KIS, UKS, stationparts (I suppose I could get rid of some of them), KJR, the Setistuff, deadly reentry, distant object (limited range), science alert, contractmanager, KOS (not that I can actually program anything yet, but I'm not even going invest time in that until I can get things stable) Precisenode and TAC are the only ones not up to date (but as I read about them, this should not really be a problem?) Gamedata folder (36 folders inside) is 832Mb big (comparing to others this is not that impressive? (and I have 8g of Ram on an i5 [email protected], videocard XFX R7950 ... which should be more than sufficient?)) Can't figure out how to remove double parts though (that pruning thing doesn't make any difference, probably I'm doing it wrong, but it's always saying the prune was succesfull?). I'm figuring that, as the crashes always occur when switching between vessels, or reverting testflights, it is not a ram-problem (sorry, I don't really have a clue about this). Most contracts are silly or make absolutely no sense, yes, but you can simply decline the ones that are useless for you. I play career/science because it forces you to come up with different designs/ideas, also to see what it is like (not great obviously, but there are ways to work around it.). More difficulty makes it so much more interesting/challenging (I actually want it to be difficult! To have to read about different concepts and trying to impliment/understand them, be efficient, etc., I hate the kindergarten stuff/mentality (and yet I'm acting like a spoiled kid atm ... got to love the irony ;-) ) About unity5 ... I don't know anything about that, but it'll probably be like anything new ... it'll be worse before it gets better (6 months until the stock game will be stable? Just a geuss, I have absolutely no knowledge about these things.
  4. Probably just ranting ... but anyway. You start a career, set up sattelites, everything else you need, get the science, etc. No problems there. Then after a while (only 25 vessels in space), this game ALWAYS starts to crash to desktop (I have 50 crashlogs on this save, most of the time nothing). Buttons stop working, ships randomly dissapear or explode, orbits shift (I can deal with that). So after all those hours of playing you end up with a broken save and you can start all over again. So, what is the point? By the time you are ready to finally go to the other planets, stuff is so ....ed up that investing the time to reach them is just a waste (relaysats have dissapeared etc.) I'm not going to reinstall this game every other day because stuff doesn't work anymore ... Offcourse I can play sandbox, and use hyperedit to get everything in place quickly. Sure I can use an older save and set me back just a little bit, but I'm just sick and tired of doing everything three times, just because this game screws up. How many work-arounds is one supposed to use or be aware of? How are you supposed to do anything? I don't even try to build spacestations or anything complicated anymore, because it's simply a big waste of time. And no, my vessels don't have too many parts (less than 50 in space and less than 150 on the launchpad)) No I'm not complaining about new features or atmosferes or whatever ... I just want to play, save my game and find everything back the next day, the way I left it, still working. Sure I can post in the support section and whatnot ... but, hey, I'm not playing to be a beta-tester, I'm not a programmer or very computersavy. The common solution is ussually, "Hey, man, I geuss you just reinstall everything ... " Ridiculous. End rant. (been playing since before 0.18, so I'm aware that there are problems. I have given up a couple of times already and I geuss now I will again (which is sad)) (Not attacking anybody, people are doing what they can and are always helpfull)
  5. Same here. Octogonal struts, removed them, then the batteries overheat. Sofar nothing works, rebuilding everything doesn't help, disabling the heatslider completely seems a bit silly but I can't think of anything else ...
  6. I'm having this same problem in Science-mode. After I revert, I have to rebuild the whole liftingstage as tanks and batteries become suddenly unavailable. So, no contracts involved.
  7. No, it's careermode (come to think of it, I haven't tried the sciencemode), I'm aware that in sandbox everything is closed. Not at home atm, as usual all sorts of things have come up again in real life ( 5 minutes after my previous post the phone rang ...), so I haven't done any troubleshooting this weekend. I was planning on trying to remove mods one by one (or adding) and then see when the problem occurs (narrow it down for you guys, and also as required according to the how-to-get-support-thread). I'll try your suggestion first I'll post my findings as soon as I get around to kerballing ...erm ... 'testing' again (thuesday at the earliest). Lol, at this rate, version .25 has come out before I figure everything out ;-) Anyway, learning new stuff, so all is good. Thanks for taking the time to have a look! :-) it even rhymes!
  8. Some outputlogs (3, from different tries). Also 2 screenshots showing what I mean. Dropboxlink : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/46qnwblwx4xznb1/AAA4TR4gkXVHkSO2RuIGy3EZa?dl=0 Figuring this out as I go along, just tell me if something is wrong or not like it is suposed to be. I'll try reinstalling mod by mod and see when the problem starts to occur, I'll post when I find something. Edit: I'll also try to find the versionnumbers from the mods (they were all downloaded at the same time and should have been up to date)
  9. Sorry, I haven't found the time yet to check this further out. (or play games for that matter ;-) ) Verifying integrity is something I also tried, but I didn't reinstall the gamedata. (I'll give that a shot aswell) Real life should stop interfering with my freetime! :-p
  10. I'll try to post a decent supportticket later (I have located that log), might be tomorrow, probably monday or thuesday. Thanks already for the replies! Good night. I'll have to figure out how to upload that log and screenshots (must have overread that part ... patience is something i'm working on ;-) )(copy/paste will not do?), more stuff to figure out :-D Yeah, I'm pretty hopeless with this kind of stuff :-p , but I'll figure it out eventually.
  11. Have been trying to get this to work for the last ... *checks clock* ... erm ... 6 hours today, and several evenings for a week and a half ... frustration is rising ;-) , as this is the only little thing that doesn't work (instead of a button, there is something like 'shieldedsomething false' (whatever that means) were the button is supposed to be). Just to be clear, as I'm not very computersavy: I can't get crewreports or EVA or anything else, contracts do give me science I suppose I can play sandbox, so i don't need the science button ... but still, it sucks. Not playing stock, I have the latest version, all the mods are downloaded today (4th time now) (so as far as i can tell, every thing should be up to date) I have always started from a new/clean version (fresh download). Mods installed (and working, again, as far as i can tell): 000_Toolbar; DeadlyReentry; DistantObject; FerramAerospaceResearch; FinePrint; KerbalJointReinforcement; KSPLua; KWRocketry; ModStatistics; NASAmission; NavHud; PartCatalog;PreciseNode; ProceduralFairings; RealChute; RemoteTech2; SCANsat; SCANsat-master; ScienceAlert; Squad; SurfaceLights; ThunderAerospace; TriggerTech; TweakScale; modulemanager.2.3.4.dll Note: the same problem when the following mods were not installed : KWRocketry, NavHud, PreciseNode, RealChute; RemoteTech2; SCANsat; SCANsat-master; ScienceAlert, DistantObject Playing 32-bit version (64-bit crashes on loadup) I don't have any logs (don't know where to get them?) On my last try, some items are hidden (71 out of 518, but the sciencebutton wasn't there either when 0 items were hidden)(probably I did something wrong, but the game is working (not crashing or doing anything weirder than normal)) At the moment, I'm going to give it a rest, again ... so trying to get it to work might not be on my todo-list for the next few days ;-) Any tips on how to resolve this problem or were to look for usefull information (so that more savy people can have a look) are appreciated.
