  1. All the contracts ask me to go survey some far away spot on Kerbin. I guess they plan for me to walk to them....
  2. If I have an unwieldy craft, I might use them to supplement maneuvering such as rotations. I use them almost exclusively for construction and maintenance tugs. I have used normal rockets for docking but it is NOT fun. I also use them for moons like gilly. I use them for station keeping.
  3. As if a real space program would be all manual. Bring on the gaming elitists. This won't end well.
  4. Well, I sometimes talk to myself when I am deep into work..... Oh you mean in KSP?
  5. To answer the question, yes. My science tools all blow up inside the cargo bay. I've kind of stopped playing until it gets fixed.
  6. That almost looks like my Argo I. Just Argo I has two more of those Mk3 fuel tank constructs. That being said, there is hope. Argo I is orbiting Minmus getting refueled. I had to launch it with most tanks empty so it wasn't too heavy to fall apart under it's own weight. It helped, too that my fuel tanks are festooned with docking ports for landing craft for when it is finally off to Jool.
  7. Give them brown pants and they'll never notice.
  8. I haven't tried it in 1.04. I did in 1.0 and had no issues on Duna. Has it changed that drastically? As for the gigantor solar panel. THey do burn off with very little aero scuffing. While folded up. This much I know has changed recently. They are at 50% heat as soon as I hit the atmosphere. I wonder if they now intend we tuck them inside a cargo bay or something.
  9. Have you tried collecting it and bringing the whole thing back to see if you get credit?
  10. Long enough that windows complains a few times that the task is not responding. I get up and do other things until I hear the music start.
  11. I've had spacecraft sink into the surface of minmus on load (they then blow up). I've had all my cargo bay contents spontaneously overheat and explode whenever any acceleration is turned on. My externally mounted solar panels overheat at 70k (just barely in atmosphere) every time on reentry. So I'm not terribly surprised. I still play, though.
  12. Why did your launch pad not collapse? I've had that happen before.
  13. Pre 0.9 I had a large station in orbit in the Joolian system. You could see it as a bright star from my laythe base.
  14. That looks like something you'd find in a Stewart Crowly book. As in terran trade authority handbook.
  15. I refueled the Aurora I and performed two rescues before doing a manual landing on Kerbin. I know I am not good enough to pick my landing point and I am not good at flying simulators with a keyboard. Still. I made it. Landed on a hill. I thought I was going to crash when I realized I had been looking at the orbital speed not my surface relative speed. Smoothest landing ever. I have no idea what my landing speed was since I was looking at the wrong thing and was flabbergasted I didn't crumple the plane into tiny bits. ALSO: I moved my Argo I refueling operation to minmus. The Fuel transport was using half the fuel it picked up from Mun just to get to rendezvous. Should use less launching from minmus.
  16. Today, the Kerbal empire had its first successful space plane launch, orbit and station rendezvous since the great physics event changed the atmosphere. Note: Eilat Station is not yet fully operational but I did have a docking port on the science module I could use to dock the new space plane to. It is interesting how much fuel efficiency is lost with small changes to the flight path. I barely had enough fuel to get to the station which is at 1million meters altitude. On several attempts before I barely had enough to circularize and descend. So, I need to only perfect the takeoff it seems to save a lot of fuel. I was aiming to delay the switchover of the SABRE rockets as long as possible. Previous attempts had them switching at 12-15k which was way too low and so sucked up a lot of rocket fuel. This one made it to over 20k before swapping. It can hop off the runway pretty good. So I climb at about 28 AOA then ease off to keep some speed but below 200m/s. Then above 12k I start to level off to let the rockets do their thing. Which they do fairly fast. Hoping to reach >1k m/s before leaving the atmosphere. I made it to 1.5k before that point. Then the rockets switched modes and I made 2k with an AP over 100km. Still being under 70k, I knew I'd lose some AP altitude but it was sufficient. I set up circularization burn and ended up just under 100km. After that I just had to rendezvous with the station. That took another 6-800 more dv. I had about 100 left when I finished matching speed and distance. RCS took me in to dock. One more thing to note. I had just enough fuel in the ship when I docked to the station (and its leftover fuel pods) to finish a station building contract I had. Yay free-ish money.
  17. As stated, aviation lights is a good one for small colored lights. You just have to remember to tie them to the lights button in the custom buttons tab.
  18. For me... Today I plan to (may not be able to) send a ship to collect my pilots that are all loaded in the KIS Argo. They transfered there when I tested several iterations of fuel transports that take fuel from the mun level ore refineries to the orbiting ship. They each had flaws that were unacceptable, so I unloaded what fuel I could get there, unloaded the crew and dumped the failed experiments. Unfortunately, that leaves a dearth of qualified pilots at KSP central. Hiring new ones is WAAAY too expensive at this point and pot luck of rescues isn't panning out.
  19. Yes, you will want to edit the ascent profile. Some of my most stable payload delivery systems do actually work with the auto settings. Generally I set about 30k for the turn begin. 1000km for the speed. 40% for the curve 80-100 for the end turn. 5-10 degrees for the end angle. Not as efficient as the machine but at least my stuff gets into space where that demon in the air can't tear it apart. I also adjust the acceleration from 20-40 m/s when needed. The only times my rockets would turn over at about 10k is when the lift ball isn't below the center of gravity.
  20. Attempted to collect funds. Opened the final air plane parts in science. Toyed with Rapiers until I was too frustrated to care about them anymore today.
  21. I've had much more entertainment from KSP than from many AAA games that sell for more.
  22. As stated, copy the desired .craft files. I did that with my large station parts. Only had to adjust a few.
