  1. Well, it seems that Squad might be in need of a QA team that could help them avoid silent patches and might point out flaws that were not discovered by the coders. I think it's really just a lack of proper QA that Squad is suffering from.
  2. Not really a solution but a mere workaround. Bugs like this should get noticed before a new version is released and it's really, really annoying not to use fullscreen at the preferred custom resolution. The tracking station used to work quite well for previous versions, so I really don't get it how they could mess this up that bad.
  3. I'm running 1.0.5 unmodded on Linux Mint 17.1 x86_64, MSI nVidia GeForce 560GTX-Ti and get the following output when entering the Tracking Station:
  4. Same thing here. My setup: KSP 1.0.6, Linux Mint 17.1 x86_64, MSI nVidia GeForce 560GTX-Ti
  5. ASES is proud to announce that today, our very first Duna orbital probe successfully enterd a stable 100 Km orbit around Duna. Resource scans and scientific experiments in upper atmosphere (temporarily orbiting with a ~47 km PE) were executed without any problems. First scientific data from another planet in the Kerbol system could be gathered. A short moment of embarrasment struck mission control when it was discovered that prior to launch, the probe's RCS thrusters were removed for reasons yet to be clarified. Anyway, this is a historic and proud moment for all ASES engineers and mission staff and thus will be celebrated with free snacks for everyone!
  6. That's a good question I kept asking myself as well. Being rather new to the game I'd say it comes from the interior views of the command modules and crew / science containers where they have compartments labelled "snacks". So maybe this inspired that running gag? Just guessing though
  7. ASES Explorer getting prepared for its maiden flight to Mun and Minmus. Probably needs two more engine-units due to the mass of the craft.
  8. Well, that didn't work either. Saves from 1.0.0 won't work on 1.0.2 or 1.0.4 without manually tweaking the savegame file (remember the heatshield issue). So no, I don't expect savegames to work in 1.1 However, it is quite likely that 1.1 introduces new parts, new features etc. so starting all over with a new game will be the best thing to do.
  9. Launch tune: Electric Six - "Nuclear War" ( )LKO operations tune: Donald Fagen - "I.G.Y." ( )
  10. I built one in science mode, it's still orbiting Kerbin. But in 0.90 I had kind of the same design orbiting Mun and went to the munar surface (and Minmus) from there. Stations are fun to build but I guess not always the best way to start / support a long distance mission.
  11. Using Linux and Linux only on my Desktop since 1998. Now, if there was a native FreeBSD version of KSP ...
  12. KER, Kerbal Alarm Clock, Alternate Resource Panel (since the stock one does no longer show per-stage fuel values), Docking Port Alignment Indicator (since I like to do all docking myself) - but that's it.
  13. While reading various posts in this forum, I noticed that some people (like me) tend to stick to a certain version of KSP. Whatever the reasons, I'm curious to find out what version of KSP are *you* running?
  14. Despite the recent patch madness, there's much to love about KSP: the things you learn about spaceship design and space travel, that feeling you get once your very first landing on the Mun was a success, the fact that you can delve into the game and forget the world around you and those big bang explosions when you fail to do it right in the first place. Also, I like that tounge-in-cheek attitude of those little Kerbals and how brave these little fellas are.
  15. Dito. I didn't even bother to upgrade to 1.0.3/1.0.4 due to the new issues regarding the exhaust heat / heat resistance of parts. Also, I've just started a new career in 1.0.2 and didn't want to do that again only a few days later with versoin 1.0.4.
  16. ASES (Avionics, Space Exploration and Science) F01. Right now I'm working on the F04 series of rockets. It seems that the letter 'F' fits rather well with rockets, see the legendary F1 engine and Space X's Falcon series of rockets for example. I also use suffixes, e.g. 'F03-a' means it's an aspargus staged rocket, 'F03-al' denotes an aspargus staged rocket featuring a lander and so on.
  17. Not really unique, but I managed to get a Rockomax X200-32 fuel tank up to my small space station in LKO. See how the first stage is still glowing red from the hard work it had to do. Finally docked the tank to ASES-OS1 - now future missions can refuel here on their way to outer space
  18. So this is how it looks like when you release the last booster stage to soon and the boosters hit your main engine. So not going to space today ...
  19. Yeah, was busy blowing up stuff and getting into the game ...
  20. Hello everybody, just wanted to drop a note that the ASES institute (Avionics, Space Exploration and Science) has successfully launched its first Missions into outer space. Maranda Kerman and her collegues already visited LKO, Mun and Minmus in person and have also set up a small yet comfortable (read: enough snacks available) space station in LKO. Right now our scientists are working on a three-kerbonaut lander and a rocket able to carry it to Kerbins moons. Spaceward Ho! P.S.: the dude behind ASES bought KSP when there was version 0.25 available, updated to 0.90 and now started all over with 1.0.2 final, running a science sandbox career for the first time. P.P.S.: I really enjoy the writings of some KSP users, especially the Kold War story was fun to read!!
