  1. Or you could just task switch and click the X. I kept upgrading graphics cards and only realized while looking at some CPU benchmarks recently how heavily X-Plane depends on the CPU. I've been lucky to get 30FPS on three monitors with the res dropped to 1600x900 each. It's even worse on VR. There forum has been pretty dead recently and that makes me sad. Kinda feels like flight sims are dying. Just gotta wait on a few paychecks.
  2. I'll be picking up a 8700k soon. My FX-8350 is archaic and dosen't handle X-plane well.
  3. So as someone that's not generally fond of the way the gaming industry has been going I'm a bit surprised to be saying this but, has there been any talk I've missed on another KSP expansion? KSP is one of the few games I'd consider making a exception on most of my DLC related rules for.
  4. I don't have a pretty picture but i used my Mach Effect thruster and a reactor from KSPI to aerobrake a huge asteroid into Kerbin orbit with like .05KN of thrust. lol.
  5. Ouch. Dunno what happened but sorry you feel that way man. I Might do a few boat-themed parts in the future but, it won't be anything near the size of this pack. Just basic floaty things. I kinda like the thought of a floating catamaran city thing.
  6. Only 6 years old? It's just broken in! Mines pushing 8. But then i don't use it all that much.
  7. Nerta does awesome work. His station parts pack is awesome. I like some of Roverdude's planetary inflatables too.
  8. Cool. I think my 4400k radiators were probably running at 6-8000k equivalent. Very glowy but otherwise happy. That's not right.
  9. I've always been a fan of sims so am quite fond of KSP. Although wierdly, recently i haven't played them much and preferred more open exploration games KSP missions take a lot of planning. I'm a huge nerd for procedural generation and No Mans Sky feels a bit like it was made just for me. If only everything didn't look mostly the same. I was completely obsessed with Space Engineers for several years but weirdly have mostly lost interest since getting into making my own ships in Blender. I think the fact that i am only limited to square 45 and 22.5 degree angles bugs me more than it should.
  10. I noticed something last night that probably can't be changed but might be worth mentioning. I Aerobraked a giant asteroid through Kerbin's atmosphere and all the heat it built up passed through the ship into the radiators part temperature. I was still able to run the engine after without overheating the radiators which i probably shouldn't have been able to. Any way to link the part temp with KSPI's actual wastheat system?
  11. With the new version you get access to ships from the Steam Workshop on the Steam version. I have no experience with the mac version, but, unlike most Steam games you don't have to have Steam running to run KSP. Ships are easy to add though so it probably doesn't make a big difference. Welcome to the forum! Ironically i mostly do the same thing. I've made a bunch of parts for KSP but haven't probably played 25 actual hours. One of these days.... I will sit down and collect some funds.
  12. So a friend of mine at work discovered this: https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2018/09/mach-effect-propulsion-now-at-60-millinewtons-per-kilowatt.html
  13. Never really checked much. Always feels like around 60 to me. I've got a 1080 and a archaic FX-8350.
  14. because they were a incredibly brief plot device? Mostly a excuse. I only need to make a collider.
  15. "What did you do in KSP today?" Does incessantly browsing the forum count? I have a exceedingly large amount of free time at my new job. XD
  16. I have a few car's I've made i kinda want to convert to KSP now because of this story. lol
  17. I'm a huge Trek nerd and have had some recent conversations about this. Impulse is supposedly a reaction-less drive that's just driven by the impulse fusion reactors. The impulse grills are basically radiators. That doesn't have much to do with MPD's or wakefield accelerators though. :)
  18. This might be a bit late in the development process to mention, but i feel like you could roughly double the length of your heat shields/aerobrakes and probably double there effectiveness and should fit just fine folded up.
  19. If it wasn't for the relatively low delta V they could almost generate 'gravity' through thrust in the MPD. Could probably get off of smaller worlds just fine.
  20. Yeah, figured it was something like that. FFR propellant maybe? :D
  21. I can't use buckyballs with my VASIMR and that makes me a little sad. Otherwise it's a useful fuel.
  22. @damonvv Have you considered doing a converted version of a BFR booster as a centrifuge? I know it was the original plan for the Space Shuttles main tank but never ended up happening. I know there's been no known discussion of it from SpaceX but it seems like it might be a ideal secondary use.
  23. I wouldn't mind seeing a proper sequel to KSP. I've long felt KSP has been outdated for quite a while, I'd like to see it sit on a newer engine that can proceduraly generate a galaxy. Or at least randomize elements of planets. That said, There's no way the modding community would be able to do anything until there was a released product. KSP isn't open-source. I intend no offense here, but if your PC can't run KSP, it's probably time for a upgrade. KSP runs decent on my laptop that's pushing 8 years old now, and it's only got a GTX 555m. Yaaaaaay, there's a single solitary other person that likes NMS besides me! Too much content in one game? Why there IS no such thing! it's not like someone has been working on one since 2013 that's still no-where near.... oh right...
  24. I hadn't even thought of this. Pretty sure those auxiliary keypads are configured differently so you could probably hack one up. I should really look into one of these. This is probably he proper solution. I've wanted to build a proper multifunction 'pit for a while myself.
