  1. Really digging this mod. I hadn't really "played" ksp in a few months (aside from bug testing) and this has really drawn me back in, especially the hover parts. Awesome work. Any advances on hovering over water yet? That's pretty much the only thing I'm waiting on before I consider this the perfect mod
  2. This is something that has been brought up quite a bit for ships, but I think it is now MUCH more relevant now that asteroids are involved. I seem to remember this being brought up a long time ago and one of the developers responding that it was possible/on the to do list, but my brain could be making up that memory.
  3. Question Endraxial: when you're in Kerbin's atmosphere with this skybox, do your stars twinkle, especially when moving fast (like in a spaceplane)? Because I'm totally getting this unintentionally awesome twinkle effect on Kerbin. EDIT: It's just from camera movement it seems. Happens anywhere. Still looks kinda neat, but not as cool as I thought it was. :\
  4. That's exactly what I did. Thankfully I saved the layered file, so desaturating the stars didn't desaturate the galaxy or other parts of the image. I may just regenerate the whole starfield at some point but that'll do for now. New file: http://www./download/7r985o59e36nzgt/zexysky_desaturated.zip Comparison: http://imgur.com/a/Apl0F It's also on Reddit if you ever need to find it easily again.
  5. I'm totally with you on that, they've been bugging me since I loaded into the game earlier today. I'm a bit too christmas'd out to fix it right. Should be easy though.
  6. Not sure if this is the right thread to post this (it's been a while since I read through it all, maybe things changed), but I whipped up a Skybox texture real quick the other day that I thought I'd share. Dunno if anyone will find it useful, but I had fun: Here's an album with some screenshots and comparisons (old version): http://imgur.com/a/M4rop EDIT: Recommended version with desaturated stars: http://www./download/7r985o59e36nzgt/zexysky_desaturated.zip Comparison images: http://imgur.com/a/Apl0F Old version (starts are more colorful, artificial): http://www./download/3tjcwl4li74wea5/zexysky.zip I did it all with Spacescape and paint.net, so it's not exactly a masterpiece (I don't have much inherent artistic talent, so thank god for those programs), but I hope someone will find it useful. I had fun making it Some notes: I think I managed to get rid of that unsightly seam at the edges of the skybox. I also added a few popular space images to the background for some variety. I didn't add very many red stars (in fact I might not have added any true red stars at all). I did this for two reasons: 1. Adding red stars made things look really funky. 2. Red stars (as far as I've read) are very abundant, but normally not very visible, and what you see in the sky are often (but not always) caused by the atmosphere. I also made the galaxy slightly darker, so it won't extend around the whole skybox. Just personal preference there.
  7. I'm loving most of the concepts behind this idea. Adding new characters could add so much more "flavor" to the game and create a fun new aspect. There are a lot of possibilities with this.
  8. This is the most important point in this thread, in my opinion. Sure, Kerbals can be asexual or genderless, that's fine, but then it shouldn't matter if you throw in a few female names too and apply them to the regular "male" looking kerbals. After all they have no gender or sex, so why would it matter? It would also just be as simple as adding a few names to the generation list (maybe a few rules too, I suppose), so I doubt it would take a significant amount of time away from working on the bigger aspects of the game.
  9. I don't think I'd be creating music, no (nor do I think there would be many other people who would). But like any other game, it's fun to just put in your own music to play at different times. So it might be silly, but it'd be a nice option to have. If we could get complete custom soundpacks, I think that'd be really cool.
  10. This is something I've been dying to know about too. As much as I love the in-game music, replacing it so that I can hear something new every once in a while would be amazing.
  11. I've actually been seeing this brought up a lot lately on several different forums, so I've formed my own opinions on the subject. Don't mind the lengthy post. I'll give the tl;dr up front: Squad knows how to learn from each release, and if they think they need to pick more testers or change their whole testing system completely, I'm confident in their ability to do that. Now for my own opinion on the matter. The issue with adding more testers is that there's a certain degree of diminishing returns. For example, the first 20 testers to make the team might prevent 10 big bugs from making it through. 20 more are added and that will prevent 5 additional bugs from making it into the release, and so on and so forth. However, each batch of testers added is another that needs to be managed by Ted and the developers, and the cost of that management (wading through more minor bug reports, getting everyone to work together, teaching new testers how to do their job, etc) will eventually outweigh the benefits. If a few updates pass, and the need for new testers was very apparent, then it might make sense to take that gamble, but applications for the newest batch of testers closed just three weeks ago. Indeed, regardless of how many testers you add, there's always a chance that a bug will slip through the cracks, but saying that crew resetting is a "significant hiccup" is a bit of an overstatement. Perhaps if reverting your flight caused the terrain to disappear, reset the entire craft, or maybe then yes, that would be quite a mistake. It being a "small and fixable issue" actually means it's more likely to make it into the .21 release, especially if it were found late in testing. Why waste time on something like that when there are bigger bugs to fix?All that said, I can't seem to replicate the bug itself. Moving any part on the vessel in the VAB will reset the crew to default, which may be what you're experiencing, but that's just an unfortunate side-effect of the current crew management implementation. Remember, crew management is still in it's infancy, so there will be kinks to work out. But this isn't like the GMail beta, or any alpha/beta testing system really, it's a product where game changing features are added regularly in large quantities, so early access customers have to expect some bugs.
  12. I've never cared for the name Kerbol. Far too similar to Kerbal, and like somebody else mentioned it just feels weird to say, for lack of a better description. For now it's The Sun. I'll let the devs decide on a name since they've done a good job with the planets so far.
  13. Pink Floyd - Echoes, all of Dark Side of the Moon and Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Echoes is great if you've played it over 2011 before.
  14. Harv actually mentioned a wind tunnel being on their wishlist in this thread, which I would be pretty excited to see, since I've been wanting to see one ever since they announced CoM/CoT/CoL. Really, you'd be able to test every part of the flight except touch-downs in it. There's also the standard things to hope for in the next update: weather, cities, reentry effects. But I'm hoping for some kind of new building like a wind tunnel or testing facility. I know a looong time ago, one of the devs mentioned adding an observatory. It sounded like a pretty cool idea at the time, if I'm remembering correctly. You'd use it to discover planets and gather info on them. From the sound of it though, I'd be willing to bet they'll put these kind of things off until a later update and save .18 for polishing things up.
  15. If we're assuming that they can't exist because the Kerbal Universe uses spheres of influence, you could just say the asteroids are orbiting the sun, outside of each others spheres of influence. They'd never collect to form a planet that way, despite not being affected by the gravity of Jool and Duna. Either way, I'm excited to see how they'll handle asteroid belts, .18 or otherwise. Will they be on or off rails? Procedurally generated? Could be any number of really cool things to do with them. Since Nova said they'd be polishing up planets, perhaps that will include Kerbin. Really pumped to know if cities or weather will be added, since both of those could make for some really cool orbital views.
