  1. What is the lowest speed possible to achieve a single orbit around earth?
  2. It only takes a small modification of the astronaut balloon to make it being a kerbalnaut.
  3. I remember there was one of them actually call KSP propaganda.... So yeah just don't give them views.
  4. I wonder what kind of environment create something as extreme as these guys. Maybe they came from space!
  5. I would cast them as themselves, since getting human to look like kerbals are pretty hard
  6. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=brychta.stepan.quantum_en I just found that free educational app, and I was wondering if it is good enough for some basic understanding of quantum mechanics.
  7. I remember I once had one of these when I was young: I actually used it to throw at stuff for grievous harm instead. (I was a dangerous child)
  8. Well, the error was obvious enough, go from -13. For those who aim to drive the points back to zero...there is an easter egg in first post.
  9. Also social progress are progress as well. But I think in terms of technological progress, we are about to hit the physical limits of what we can do unless we discover a new understanding of the universe. Moore's law is about to meet it's end, as eventually we get to a point we can't just shrink the processor any more.
  10. Yeah, this thread was made waay before I heard of it though, like a year ago. Someone just brought it back up today and I thought I should fix the scenario a bit. Honestly though, I can't imagine a scenario where the military space race don't end up in trashing LEO and no one get to space anymore, even if it is between moon colonists and earth. So likely no one is planning to go do it, realistically. Doesn't mean we can't speculate though!
  11. And more videos about it are on ESA you tube channel, including an hour and a half long press conference video, if you are into that.
  12. Well, this topic has been dead for a while, but I guess I should change the scenario again so it makes more (actually less) sense: Imagine the USA becoming a rogue nation under the control of a crazy president (I won't say who or how the Americans decide to follow that person) who aims to conquer the world. The same crazy president decide to militarize space. What kind of crazy military spacecraft will the poor scientists working there will come up with?
  13. Hmm, so can it be said that giving an unlimited amount of material orbiting a star, there can be an unlimited amount of planets orbiting that star at the same time? Then again, the total unlimited mass of the unlimited amount of planets would surely either rip the star apart or being dragged into the star to fuel it. The question of finding the amount of planets possible on a star system is a tough one to even begin asking, now that I think about it. I can phrase it like, the maximum amount of earth-size planets on the least amount of orbits around a star of our size...but then that is just not realistic. I guess I will ask something else like, what is the star system that we have theorized to have the most planets in the universe? Like, not even confirmed through observation yet is ok.
  14. Seems like so far there have been no system with more than 9 planets. What the theoretical limit on numbers of planets in a star system then?
  15. What star system that we have discovered has the most planets ?
  16. Replace the human with an alien. Sometimes it is not about an invasion as much as nonchalant accidental destruction without any sort of hostilities. Some aliens may simply not care about our existence at all or even notice it, just as much as we care about random bacteria in the air. One day they might accidentally stop too close to earth with a warp drive and blast us with deadly radiation because one of them had to pee so bad.
  17. Well, the error was small enough to not warrant a revert, and it was reported after -100. We do have a lot of things to mulled over though and it has been holding us back from reaching a consensus fast enough. However, we decide that this round was on hold for long enough, and we will end it here, with a Negative win. Please, remember, don't edit at all if possible. That one mechanic is really tough for us to figure out a way to appropriately address, and it would be better if we don't have to at all. You may now begin round #30 (wow, how long has it been?), beginning from 0.
  18. Sorry everyone for the long resolution, we have a new case here, again as a problem with editing: We don't know what exactly went down here, and from our perspective, it means 2 possibilities: 1. PB666 edited the post, which is strongly discouraged, and would be considered an error in this case. 2. PB666 did not edit the post, but double post and has the post appended. However, that means it is a violation of Rule 2, which states: " You cannot perform any operation again until another person has successfully perform an operation to change the current number. " Which means you cannot fix your own mistake if you already posted it. You can, of course, pretend the mistake never happened and continue, but that risk reverting from enemies. You can also point out your own mistake if you wish, which null it as a revert point for enemies but set you back, as that does not allow you to perform any operation until your mistake is fixed, including trying to fix your own mistake. I have made a little clarification to the However, as this is a new case without precedent and people likely don't know about it, we do not want to completely null the whole round, so this will be a GM revert to last valid post before that mistake (if you find a revertable mistake before this one, welcome to use it, I haven't check the whole round): Because I quoted the negatives, I will now also ping some positives here so they have a chance as well (picked at random though since people can change side anytime): @TopHeavy11 @Atlas2342 Have fun. And please don't edit, it makes things so very difficult for us.
  19. Guys, the guy making the drive is going to launch a few cube sats with a few prototype engines to test the thing. We will see soon enough, provided they could ensure that he is not cheating. He claims his sats will last in orbit for at least 6 months instead of 6 weeks. So if there is truly no cheating involved, it will be verified in the real world.
  20. http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/energy/a22678/em-drive-cannae-cubesat-reactionless/ Well, working or not, we will see eventually when it is put to the test.
  21. On it now, but we are not forum moderator, just the Game Masters of this particular forum game. Just some clarification. Edit: If you want things to be a little faster, please apply to be GM, since we are a bit swamped with RL now. It will take some time.
