  1. For a limited time only. I think the free game change every few months.
  2. Saw this a while ago, but didn't want to post it here due to clickbait title. At the end it says: So well, there are no departure from laws of thermodynamic.
  3. It was available publicly on peer reviewed journals, but not for free. Access to the papers required subscription. Now it is free for the public to access, including those not affiliated with institution that has subscription to scientific journals. And any other research funded by NASA from now on will get the same treatment (aside from some as mentioned in op), and will be available for the public with no cost.
  4. https://www.nasa.gov/open/researchaccess/pubspace NASA-funded research has been recently released to the public access for free, while it was blocked by a paywall before. This includes research funded in 2016 and afterward, and exclude any "patents, publications that contain material governed by personal privacy, export control, proprietary restrictions, or national security law or regulations ". You can find them in the link below, happy reading. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/?term="nasa+funded"[Filter]
  5. Pitch a kerbal movie idea to any film director looking person you see there!
  6. Now it is interesting to see where ISS will end up after its life time.
  7. Well, sometimes it takes failing a class to realize you gotta shape up. I hope our friend here doesn't need that though. In all, I still mean what I said, from my experience as I am about to graduate very soon and is already entering the working life on my internship. The time you are still in your education period is the time when failing is still safe and acceptable, because that is what it is designed for. When you fail a class, you gotta retake it, relearn it, retry it, but rarely it is the end of the world. When in the real world, failing at your job will have real consequences and you may not have another chance (especially, especially if you are responsible for something important). So don't be afraid to fail, trying out new way of thinking to refine your knowledge and learn from your mistakes when you still can make mistakes. A mistake unmade is a mistake unlearned. To send you off:
  8. Congratz! Make the most of your time there! And another unasked-for advice: Don't be afraid to fail at some stuff in university. An education institution is a place you can fail so you don't make the same mistake in real life. Applies in almost all jobs, and even more so for a pilot. Be kerbal in a simulator so you learn why you should never do that flying a real thing!
  9. The best demonstration of Lenz's law (iirc) that I have seen.
  10. I wonder if quantum computer require much more hardening against cosmic radiation considering how sensitive the q-bits are.
  11. The last round has been reviewed. The victory goes to the Negatives, congratulation! You may now begin with a new round. Zero operatives, the balance has shifted, and the equilibrium once again is in danger before the negative advances. It is time to act. Once again, from the origin. 0.
  12. I believe the creator did come out and warned that people may have unrealistic expectations of the game. On another note, reading the reviews reminds me of this game Not the same thing I know, but the exploration of unknown worlds with limited inventory to store items and cargo while meeting aliens whose languages can only be learned in pieces really reminds of that game.
  13. Did it serveral times in university as well. Goodness the feeling of sleep afterward is like dying and going to heaven.
  14. Usually you will feel sleepy a few hours before your usual sleeping time. Your body has went past its resting period and goes back to wakefulness period. You can push it again for a 48 hours of wakefulness, or even more, but it will kill you eventually. So, go sleep early for the next few days to return your sleep debt. You don't get back all the sleep from just one night.
  15. For some reason that looks so hypnotic. I am sure if that was a loop I would look at it for at least 30 minutes.
  16. From http://www.xkcd.com/1705/
  17. A rocket named Magneto? Was it named by a professor named Xavier?
  18. Giving my self admin access of course, and making some backdoors in case I get booted. After ward I will make copies of the code and make sure I have backups. I will be the ruler of multiple universes!
  19. How does these things work? A co-worker of mine is thinking of buying it, and I feel like these kinds of things are scams. How are nitrates in food usually tested, and does it matter? Edit: for some reason the video is not what it is supposed to be. The thing I want to verify are the nitrate tester from Soek.
  20. There is some limitations to the sizes of motors until it is too difficult to convey the same motion capacity of the human body. Further more there's also the problem of energy storage for robots that small. But I think there are possibilities here with VR tech and small robots. Probably more like real steel and arena caged combat than a war game though.
  21. http://bigthink.com/laurie-vazquez/can-aging-be-reversed-by-getting-blood-transfusions-from-young-people Is this real?
  22. Welp, before this thread get closed, here are some of my spare changes: 1. Human are the masters of their environment. However, they have been very, very, very horrible masters. We need to be more responsible with the place we live in. We could probably do less about blaming and more about solving things. 2. The garbage patch is a source of recycleable material, though due to how uneconomical it is, likely no one would attempt to do that. It is also too scattered and spare to be any sort of structure, despite the rumours of it being an island of sort. The thing is just a nasty, nasty patch of garbage floating around, captured by ocean currents, poisoning marine life. Many pieces of trash are too small to be collected by nets effectively, but just the right size for a silly fish to mistaken it for food and gobble up. It is unlikely to clear the whole thing without resorting to smart solution like, well, bacteria to digest the plastic. Still, that is not something we can simply come up. Like many complicate things in life, there is never an easy absolute answer to come upon to.
