  1. Somebody early on posted a request for an Inertial Dampener, and i'm proposing something very like the opposite. Have you ever tried landing on the moon, and think it's going well until you realise you're going 30 meters per second sideways and don't have enough fuel to slow down? Or how about being unable to land a ship because you run out of fuel in orbit. Probes to Gilly bouncing off after touchdown users of the Anti-Gravity engines available quickly realizing their craft has no brakes Moving across the surface of a low gravity moon , searching for a good colony site, and not being able to slow down The list goes on and on. What i'm proposing is a Higgs Anchor module that when activated, /quickly/ slows your orbital velocity. It ensures a standstill relative to the SOI's surface as long as its active. Altitude speed would remain unchanged, meaning your craft wouldn't stay suspended in the same place in the universe. you'd have to take care to land safely. A Higgs Anchor would solve all of those problems above, since all of them relate to excess or uncontrollable orbital velocity. For a small probe, an excess of 1 m/s can quickly become uncontrollable if you're not good at steering. Landing a fully-built colony is nigh impossible if you're in a high orbit. The module itself would come in three sizes, 2.5, 1.25 and whatever the smallest diameter is, i forget. It would require low power for the small and 1.5 versions but much more for the 2.5 version, and run on electricity only. Its effect would be quick under no thrust, but thrusting can resist or escape the effect. That way, course correction is still possible under the effect of the Anchor, as well as easily driving hover vehicles with it online to prevent them from floating off on their own. Note that the purpose of the module is NOT to raise the mass of an object, or its drag. Mass doesn't stop an object, simply increase the force of inertia, which is the Opposite of what a Higgs anchor's purpose is, and drag is not a factor in space. Is anybody willing or interested in making such a part? Or want any more information on the idea in case i was unclear?
  2. Does anybody know how useful these are for post-deorbit deceleration? If i set them to their highest height setting and come down perpendicularly, will they "catch" me and prevent my spacecraft from making another crater on Duna?
