1. A quick question for nlight... once I use CKAN to install AFBW,(which is working flawlessly) must I continue to use CKAN? Can I just use my KSP stock desktop shortcut launcher?
2. The Advanced Fly By Wire mod is your only hope... my X-55 HOTAS is working perfectly now.
3. I suppose... my method may be lacking but my point is valid. My reference to "dozens" are spread over the internet on other forums and communities because I do use the search functions on the web as a whole, and I clearly stated RANT in my title.
4. Ha! dude... just use the search function or hit the AFBW thread... joystick complaints go back YEARS
5. By the people who sell this game? I just bought a nice joystick and throttle (X-55 Rhino) which I thought would increase the immersion of this fabulous game a bit... WRONG... it has turned into a ridiculous, convoluted mess. I haven't seen any response by a dev on any point... The forum watchdogs will quickly smother any complaints to the "proper" forum and that's it... That is all that gets resolved by the people who rake in the dough. My devices seem to work for almost every other game out there, and the modding community picks up the slack for every other issue. I've seen a dozen threads about the same problems over and over, and nothing gets done... the next release "should" fix that. Good luck with that... I'm looking at some beautiful high end PAPERWEIGHTS on my desk as I type this... So, the pedants take over from here. Post yer logs and a bunch of other crap that take ninja skills to even understand. Wow...really? This game is 50% flight sim, yet wont support a effin joystick and throttle?
6. I would love to see this somehow warn me of an un-crewed craft about to undock from a station. I mean like the instant I mouse over the docking port. because I'm an idiot
7. It took so long because SQUAD knew I had a four day weekend
8. I get in my car and turn the key... the throttle is set at 50% from the factory, and in my garage I listen to the engine revving like hell for no reason. Oh well, I better mod the ECU on my stock car to set it to a sane idle...makes sense, although I have no effin clue how to do it.
9. All of my landers are true spacecraft, they are born on Kerbin, but never go back there. They all have a command module to push them into low orbit of the planet or moon and then return them to the station they are assigned to. I undock the lander from the command module and dock both ships to the station...I can't begin to explain how cool it is to park the CM/LM near the station and then dock both. I have made tugs that tow the station and CM/LM to where I want to explore next. Its been fairly successful. Some of my designs are wobbly (depending on the size of the docking ports) and hard to fly but I always seem to get where I'm going.
10. YES!!! texture manager was the problem, I removed mine and my game loads fine now! Yay!!!
11. Build your plane so it lifts off the runway, with no help, at max thrust... Let it eat and climb until you reach Mach 2.5, pitch up to 30 degrees and go until you reach 75km. Then circularize. I use RAPIERS.
12. Here's one dragging a shuttle along... launched my shuttle... And brought it back...
13. Could you just point at prograde for awhile, after the burning stops, to put the HS behind you to slow down?
14.
Brainlord, It would be a "Hohmann transfer" If I were to follow it up with a burn at periapsis to circularize in a new orbit. Really it's just a direct ejection to Kerbin reentry. As for "why it's better", it's not necessarily. It certainly saves DV compared to the way you've been doing it previously, but using a gravity assist should save you some DV if done right. It's up to you to decide if the DV savings is worth the additional weeks of mission time. Best, -Slashy
I did this by accident once...except that instead of dropping straight into a descent I skipped off the atmo and slid into an orbit around Kerbin and the next time around I was able to splash down without any further Delta v. Coolest thing ever.
15. Dont forget to disable SAS when you first contact the target port...this lets the magnetic attraction of the ports work for you, without SAS fighting to keep the original orientation... if you disable too soon you can bounce off and start to tumble, turn SAS back on, recover your alignment and turn it off again, then thrust toward the target port. I disable after the first little bump so I'm rebounding very slowly. Never go faster than you are willing to crash into something...
16.
Most efficient way to land on Minmus (or any vacuum body) is a suicide burn. A search on that term will turn up plenty of KSP tutorials. That said... Minmus is very easy to land on, once you've achieved orbit; very little dV required to land and take off. Sounds like your main problem is not Minmus landing per se, but rather the overall dV for the whole mission. You just need more. Be aware that as a last resort, if you've successfully landed and don't quite have enough fuel to go home, a Kerbal on EVA who's standing on the surface of Minmus can easily achieve Minmus orbit and even head home to Kerbin without a ship, using only EVA thrusters. Previous to 1.0.5, that EVA kerbal could then re-enter Kerbin's atmosphere just fine (as long as Pe is set somewhere high, like around 45-50 km), fall out of the sky, and land unharmed. 1.0.5 made reentry heating tougher, though, so I don't know whether that's still the case (haven't tried it yet). I wouldn't be surprised if EVA kerbals can no longer reenter unharmed. But even without reentry, the fact remains that a kerbal on EVA is packing 300+ m/s of dV, so you can use that to go home. You could always send up a rescue ship to intercept the kerbal as he/she approaches Kerbin.
Jeb takes one last look at his stranded lander, fires up the MMU and flies home without it... That scene just makes me smile.
17. over a thousand hours, and haven't seen it yet...

19. This is GREAT! The rocket flew perfectly, The 'chutes are awesome and the fuel tanks and rocket motors are just right... I have my fingers crossed for some rusty old solar panels and RCS tanks.
20. I am absolutely SICK of the effin leak... I have hundreds of hours on this game and it's the most dismal frustration. Wow... really? This the best that can be done?
21. Didn't see the movie yet, the book was really good...
