A few species of Albatross 1 and 2 were found recently, hiding in the mountainous region of Kerbin's desert. They got frightened quickly, and ran away. A few times, an Albatross 2 mating call was heard (engines revving), and the calls were usually responded to by a Ravenspear Mk2 aero-spike engine. No calls from Albatross 1's were ever recorded, and it is extremely hard to locate any of the aforementioned species on Kerbin, as they may be near extinction.

1.0.5 Kerbal-Powered Flight
Matuchkin replied to Geschosskopf's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
If someone actually manages to go to the Mun with this contraption, without timewarp, he will be a damn hero. We need a leaderboard for "who waits the longest". If this still works in 1.0.5, I'm willing to go to the Mun in RO, waiting 7 real life days. -

When you actually think you can get something to space via scrap metal, your school's chemistry storage, and money. I'm getting more and more stupid by the minute. -

How old are the people on this forum, to be playing KSP? -

Why Are You (Still) Playing Kerbal Space Program
Matuchkin replied to NeoMorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You're living in one, guys. I'm still thinking of downloading it, though. Computer's too horrible. I think I'll manage though with 2-5 fps. -

I once looked at a video of the Challenger explosion. Instead of thinking about what actually happened, I saw the two SRB trails in the sky and started thinking about how to fix that with struts. I am a damn monster. I hate myself. -
*Contemptuous scoff* Those larger planets all look the same. The dwarfs are not like those contemptuously obese morons. They are pure. They are better, stronger, faster...

Я очень давно не писал на Русском (восемь с-чемто лет) . Я очень силно привик к Англискаму, и я извинаюс за мои ошибки.

The Su's "nickname" is Grach, meaning "Rook". It also has a more commonly heard NATO reporting name- Frogfoot, but I prefer Grach.

"Contract" mod for BDArmory, based on strategy.
Matuchkin replied to Matuchkin's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Wait, how is pss a derogatory term in any way? -
Let's get one thing out of the way first. I put the word Contract in double quotation marks because by "Contract", I mean "Full-blown campaign." There's just no way to avoid one with this mod idea. Anyway, some background info: I got the inspiration for this idea by reading the book Kill Chain: The Rise of the High-Tech Assassins, by Andrew Cockburn. It is a documentary that focuses on the evolution of the military world (mostly on unmanned technology and various other such networks, but that's too much already). The beginning of the book focuses on the idea in general, investigating deep into the Vietnam War, the Laos bombings, and WWII. Namely, it focuses on Task Force Alpha (operation Igloo White and Rolling Thunder). I was inspired to propose this idea. The general problem that I see with BDArmory is its lack of strategy. Mostly, I see people competing with each other on topics such as "Who's fighter is better," or "can you beat THIS?" but, so far, none of those competitions focus on strategy and creativity as much as they focus on the aspects of an individual military device. Sure, you can create some things that are used strategically in Real Life, but, in the end, you'll just be pitting it off against something else, seeing how agile or strong it is. I generally wanted to see what people would think about it by sneaking some craft ideas into several threads. However, last time I did that, a situation ensued, after which I replaced my status with <"Are you brain dead?" -The_Mad_Emu>. No, I'm not posting links to that thread, thank-you-very-much. So, I'm proposing a mod that completely tilts BDArmory to the strategic side, by use of these factors: - "Contracts" (again, quotation marks), that make combat focus purely on strategy. Drone recconaissance, troop distribution, new offense and defense ideas that could change the tide of war completely (like operation Igloo White, if you know about it). The contracts will also be based on the decisions of the enemy's side, the actions of your troops (yes, troops, you'll have an actual organized military network) will be decided by you. - Politics. The events that you choose to do will greatly influence your relationships with other countries (basic borders drawn out on the map, with basic rules according to them). This is important, and greatly influences military decisions. - Many more. Yes, I keep forgetting if I wanted to write anything else into this post, or I'm just too lazy. Therefore, I write "many more" or "etc" after every list I make, to negate any complaints against my lack of points, knowledge, etc. Nice try, military genius. Anyway, if done correctly, reconnaissance, logistics, etc will be the main aspect of war, not the quality of machinery. Using the environment given by this mod, a KSP player will be able to give his contraptions the true test, as part of an organized military network. Jets and tanks won't win wars, unmanned drone networks (remote tech will be awesome), "invisible" barriers (again, Igloo White) and strategies would be the factors of victory. By the way, Igloo White failed. The last recording of the top-secret operation was of a Viet-Cong soldier taking a kraken on an acoustic sensor. Nice...

I'd post some kind of gif on that, but I can't, and that's what's killing me...

[Stock] [1.05] Hurricane Launch Vehicle Family
Matuchkin replied to Temstar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thank you for telling me. I appreciate the information. Also, thank you for writing in such a legible way, I really had a good time reading this. -
"Hallo. Sehe ich es gibt russische Volk hier? Lassen Sie mich Ihnen dabei zu helfen..." OK, по серьёзному, про что мы здесь разговариваем? (Блин, я ужасно пишу по Русскаму)

Mechjeb-shaped rocket debris.

To this, I agree, and reply like this: <....sigh... > Understood?
-
Sorry for that. I was solely thinking about Apollo 11 when I was writing that. That makes Mechjeb realistic in general, right?

[Stock] [1.05] Hurricane Launch Vehicle Family
Matuchkin replied to Temstar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Your LV family was called "Hurricane" because of the English meaning of the Russian word "Uragan"? Not a bad idea, I usually spend too much time trying to make a BadS name for my rockets. I never really thought of that approach. Anyways, a very nice craft, I haven't seen that idea in a long time. As the question goes amongst winged aircraft, would it work in FAR? I really don't remember if gifs are allowed here, so please do not penalize me if they aren't. Just tell me, and I will remove it. -
Let's say that NASA or Roscosmos started off by using garbage cans and hoses (which they obviously didn't), how would you feel if they upgraded to actual rockets? Because that's what mods do to KSP. -FASA -Tantares -Tantares LV -Contares -SLS parts pack -Bluedog design bureau -many more other mods... Also, in KSP, astronauts are apparently left alone in their ships, with no directions and their controls to use for their whole journey. They are immortal and require nothing to live. Their solar system is ten times smaller than real-life. Aerodynamics apparently do not apply in their system. But of course, removing all those problems will be cheating! what am I even talking about?! Also: "when you call them out on their flagrant cheating." - r4pt0r on the topic of mechjeb (and any other mod, as stated in the previous quote) Everyone! Assemble! Let's topple NASA! They're not using trash found lying by the side of the road! THEY'RE USING AVIONICS IN THEIR ROCKETS! THEY'RE CHEATING!
-
I say that the mod makes the game more realistic, no matter the skill level of the player and no matter his/ her coordination. Heck, it might as well be renamed "avionics mod" and expanded on! (Not to actually imply on that, just giving an image of its realism)
-
Imagine: "Baikonur to Soyuz. We don't care about your flight anyway. Here's a joystick, have fun flying your plane or whatever. *grabs a drink and a plate filled with herring*" No, Mechjeb is not cheating. It does, in fact, make the game much more realistic due to its guidance capabilities (not to mention the launch trajectories). As long as it isn't used for manned landings.
