  1. I feel like this game as a whole gives more moments of awe and accomplishment than any I've ever experienced. I doubt I could pick one or even a few. Every step of the journey felt like an amazing accomplishment. First take-off; first time hitting space; first time creating orbit; orbiting the mun; landing on the moon; completing a rendezvous with another spacecraft in orbit; completing a docking (this is probably the biggest highlight for me based purely off my attempts:successes ratio)... the list is endless! After hundreds of hours I still have moments of teeth gritting, intense focus, calm hands, pant-....ting excitement followed by completion and a feeling of accomplishment like no other. I had an idea; I built the idea; I tested it until it worked; I executed the plan; and it worked!!
  2. I'm genuinely ecstatic right now; SO I felt a need to post this in case it reaches one random individual and alters their KSP life FOREVER. I've been playing KSP for over 800 hours and since day one I've been plagued by SLOW load times. Like 20+ minutes with all of my mods installed... I randomly just stumbled upon a thread on here talking about it and someone suggested that the program Hamachi caused this bug.. Frankly, I didn't even know it was a bug! I thought it was something EVERYONE dealt with! Uninstalled Hamachi (rarely use it...) and KSP loaded in less than 60 seconds!! You have no idea how happy this makes me! I've loaded up KSP probably a few hundred times and every time I have waited unnecessarily long... imagine all those wasted 19 minutes... what better use I could have put them to!! So hopefully this helps someone.. before getting buried in the forums! Anyone have even a slight guess why a random program like Hamachi would cause ridiculously slow load times? and how on earth did someone actually debug that and figure out that it was even the source of the problem... amazing!
  3. Seriously one of the cooler things I've seen! It's like a carton of eggs! I've sent so many individual ships up holding one or two probes at a time (one mounted to each end of the cargo bay..) NEVER thought about a system like that! Do you have that as a sub-assembly download somewhere?
  4. Those radial tanks look amazing.. getting them to peel off like that! I find I always need to cut my thrust off (or nearly off) to drop tanks like that in my designs. Is that always the case?
  5. Looks amazing! I feel like the 'stupidity' rating on all your Kerbals starts going up from all the shaking of their brains... Side note: Does anyone else watch youtube videos of KSP and catch themselves trying/wanting to right click and turn the camera to get a better angle?
  6. Hey guys, Using KAS and I'm wondering how to power electromagnets! I have one attached to a winch and I'm attaching it to another ship but it just says "magnet not powered" and it starts to float away. Am I using the wrong attachment point or something? I can't seem to find any information about the electromagnet on the KAS wiki.
  7. I thought maybe I'd messed one up by accident, but after checking they are all 100% thrust... Great suggestion though! I now have all four corners of this lander in space and connected together; still flips without SAS on ! Pretty strange! FlashCactus Unfortunate that there is no indicator for CoD! Maybe something someone could mod? It'd be interesting to see sometimes.
  8. Fuel consumption seems normal in space.. I've pretty well given up on fixing it now.. SaS bandages it enough for my use (and there isn't an issue once its attached to the launch craft and sent to orbit) The issue only exists when I try to take off with no SAS from the launch pad. Is it possible for me to change the post title to "answered"? Or does a Moderator have to do it? Essentially my original question about the CoL was answered; as it was just showing the default position of lift as I had no wings. Thanks for all of your help everyone! If anyone else has any added input I would still be glad to hear it.
  9. Definitely not a lift problem. You're all correct, I honestly had no idea that it just left CoL undefined when you had no wings. I assumed all parts generated some lift. And yes, the corners are all supported by struts. So no floppiness! I'm starting to think glitch or something maybe..?
  10. Corrected the flip with a bit of SAS but I'm still wondering why it would do that anyway if the first two (Mass/Thrust) are centered.. Why would the third (Lift) be pulling so hard on that one corner? When it isn't any different than it's neighboring corner. Only really a problem in atmosphere anyway.. which isn't an issue as this is a mun lander (1 of 4 pieces to be docked in space and landed together) but still irritating. - - - Updated - - - Did not know it would leave it undefined! (I never build space planes so I rarely use CoL) I guess pilot error... I've been playing a long time (600+ hours according to steam...where the hell did they all go) so I'm a good enough pilot.. but my design did not lead me to expect to flip the way it does. For the record: there is an LV-909 at the bottom of each corner for thrust. Tried moving the other two over the CoL now Capi and it didn't change anything; thank you though! Also on the note of Pilot error: I should say this is an immediate 180 degree flip within ~150m of the launchpad... it's like my mass is WAY off center. But clearly it isn't. It happens so fast I don't think any level of piloting skill would ever fix it.
  11. Hey all, Not 100% sure if I'm in the right section.. my issue is more gameplay related than the actual game itself so I posted here instead of the support section! As the title says: the center of lift on my ship is way off from where I imagine it should be and I don't understand why... Screenshot: As you can see, the CoT and CoM are both perfectly centered but the CoL is under the one corner.. As a result that side flips over. Very confusing as the ship is essentially symmetrical. Or at the very least the CoM could have been off as the two sides aren't the same. For the record I don't have any mods for Aerodynamics (ie. FAR or the like). Any ideas? Tips? I thought maybe it had something to do with the OKTO on that corner, but I tried adding one to the opposite corner to absolutely no change. It's not like there is a wing or anything there.. so why the extra lift? Also I'm afraid I don't know how to make my images smaller on here... my apologies if they are to large! Thank you! Oscar
