  1. Great mod, A problem I am encountering is that the parts break apart if you attempt any manuevering above .6 or .7 mach. Also I having issues with wings because they require so many parts, any recommendations on a wing part mod to go with this? Or a procedural wings mod?
  2. Lol now that you mention it.. There is a lot of NASA
  3. New missions to OPM bodies The Neptune satellite http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/129052-Urlum-Satellite-Insertion And the Hades lander http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/129049-Single-Launch-Land-Return-from-Slate-%28Pic-Heavy%29 Also for those who missed it, the earlier SarnEx mission http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/128275-SarnEx-Manned-Mission-to-Ovok-Hale-(Picture-Heavy)
  4. I had a contract to orbit and send data from Urlum, and since my budget was strained from my simultaneous Slate return mission I set out to do this as efficiently as possible. The Neptune I Satellite is launched. Just a bit left on the transfer burn. The Neptune probe enters hibernation, as it will be 9 years before it enters Urlum orbit, solar panels will be useless where it is going so it has been equipped with a basic RTG. The Neptune is the farthest kerbal made object from kerbin yet! It looks pretty lonely out there... Entering Urlum orbit, wall is visible, a brief and distant flyby was performed on one of the hyperbolic braking orbits. Mission control is amazed by the beauty of the received images of the swirling ice giant, the presence of thin rings was also confirmed. The rings are no longer visible now that we've evened out our inclination. Mission control sets the resting orbit just within the orbit of the two inner moons for further study with the long range camera and potential future contract fulfillment, Polta seemed somewhat like minmus. Getting a good image of Priax was irratating.
  5. After many, many failed attempts I finally have a reliable (if massively over engineered) rocket which could pretty much take me anywhere. My goal was a return from Slate, a large moon of Sarnus included in the OPM mod, the only Sarnusean moon I have not done a manned landing on. There was much auto-loading this day. The Hades I rocket only cost over half of my entire accumulation of credits so far.. My Rocket uses parts from the Space Y heavy lifter pack and weighs in at 5,500t, has an initial thrust of 131.4MN, and has around 16,000 m/s of delta V. My frame rate was not the greatest for orbital insertion. Dropping liquid fuel boosters Circularizing (this is kinda a placeholder pic, the final craft had a larger engine and fuel tanks in the transfer stage, but I forgot to take close ups of it) Val does some final checks as the craft enters Sarnus orbit. Retro-burning gives me a lucky easy encounter with slate I used the remainder of my transfer stage to help land (placeholder pic again, old wimpy transfer stage) I didn't get pics of the lander approaching the surface because I was very focused with the nail biting suicide burn (which i failed about 5 times), and with the high gravity I would tip over if there was any slope. Saying goodbye.. Val mutters something about never coming back here. Leaving the beautiful gas giant behind, note the RTG as solar panels are useless at this distance. Reentry from the OPM bodies is always extra hot and scary, hitting around 5km/s in atmosphere. Though a little singed, Val is glad to be home. This was the hardest mission I have done to date with the possible exception of Eve, though I have not yet gone to Eve with the new atmosphere. Next up, a manned mission to at least two moons of Urlum.
  6. The planet, and moons (among others) are from OPM, the visuals are from astronomers visual pack using EVE. Edit: It was an 11 year journey
  7. SarnEx Liftoff! Dropping boosters Transfer to Sarnus Lining up Ovok Encounter "That's one big egg" -Jeb "This wasn't in the mission briefing!" -Jeb after discovering how "smooth" the surface of Ovok was Sarn Set "Riding the Rings" Eeloo is visible in the background Jeb managed to find a flat landing spot between the spiky hills, but he realized Bill forgot to bolt on the landing gear! Luckily the low gravity means the lack of landing gear is not a big deal Looks like RCS fuel and nozzles were also forgotten, docking took about 5 attempts Approaching Hale Jeb decided that it would be easier to land the whole ship with the extremely low gravity, instead of going through another frustrating docking debacle Jeb calculated he had time for a couple pictures before the ship tipped over Jumping kilometers Ascending from Hale Saying goodbye to Sarnus SarnEx prepares to gravity turn around the Kerbin for a Mun encounter Docking with MunSS for future refueling and reuse Good to be home
  8. How far from Kerbol will this new system orbit? It would be super cool if this was compatible with the fantastic OPM Mod.
  9. No rcs on parts that need to dock, no control on mission essential modules, no landing gear on landers. The mission must go on! (with much quickloading)
  10. Better then my previous problem where the moon disappeared once I got to orbit range! - - - Updated - - - I got trolled when i tried to dock with my orbiting transfer stage, i forgot rcs on the lander, and had no control on the transfer stage, in my many attempts of docking i pushed the transfer stage out of orbit and the long end of ovok ate it, while my lander barely cleared the spikes with a last minute burn, poor jeb watched his ride home expolode into a million tiny pieces. Good thing for quick save.
  11. With the new update, ovok disappears as I near it, it is visible in map view, but I tried to land on it today and the surface vanished as I entered orbit range. I tried to land with mechjeb but my craft exploded when i touched the invisible surface, even though I was only traveling 5m/s with the landing gear out. Any ideas?
  12. Landing a science base on duna without a massive failure, i thought i might have underestemated the drag i would get from parachutes but it worked great!
  13. Jesus.. How does that not have wobbles of hell?
  14. Made a mach 4 capable cargo jet for dropping science probes from 20000m over the arctic. Can go all the way to the pole and back with fuel to spare.
  15. My first station in 1.0, placed in low minmus orbit to research what color of sprinkles taste best on surface samples. Lander module collects science from the surface and brings it back up to the lab, easy science. Kinda wish i had the forsight to put some more docking nodes on it, it cant really be expanded unless i replace the lander, but i want to use it for mining operations as well instead of launching a completely new (expensive) station.
  16. After an two hours of messing around with files i finally got OPM and AVP to work together! Yay so pretty!!! Jumps up and down-
  17. I never played career after a brief and unpleasent try out in .90, but i thought I'd give it another shot in 1.0 and i love it now.
