  1. Then why not... use CaptainSlug\'s shrouds?
  2. Ah, I missed that on the diagram. Looks like that mass is indeed a K-type... and I remembered how tiny red dwarfs are.
  3. Scifi bias? Sure, it\'s a site for people who want to write scifi. And, uhm, they don\'t claim adding armor is a good idea, they state pretty specifically that it\'s a terrible and useless one. There may well be some points where it\'s not as accurate as it could be but I wouldn\'t go as far as writing the whole site off.
  4. Is the sun gonna be painted red-dwarf color, or will it stay yellow and run on the same magic that explains Kerbin\'s density?
  5. This has been one of my favorite sites on the internet for years.
  6. It is possible to land a small plane on a single skid, though it takes very smooth and level piloting on the approach and touchdown.
  7. What we need is actual air-breathing engines. I sort of treated the superdense tanks as a substitute for that, only using them in the lower atmosphere.
  8. Exchange rate is currently way, way too unstable. Also, kind of a hassle (I'd imagine) for devs to deal with taking payments in multiple currencies and needing to exchange regularly.
  9. I was only able to get the commsat into orbit using the wobbly rockets pack. Will probably be doable in vanilla 0.9 with struts added, but until then...
  10. Right, because 'sexually attractive' is the benchmark of being interesting female character design. >
  11. My first orbit had an apokee of 900km and perikee of 100km. Getting a circular 40km orbit was much harder, but incredibly rewarding
  12. Ah, they key seems to be using the navball to fly (and paying attention to to orientation of the little 'wings' indicator - controls are relative to this!) rather than trying to eyeball the rocket orientation and axes. Was trying to do the latter for ages... pretty much impossible.
  13. I just got the most perfectest flight ever Took off heading vertically with my three stage, fairly simple 'Torchship 3' rocket. At about 35km I pitched east just below the horizon to burn off the vertical speed and get the required vertical speed. After a couple of adjustments I was in a very, very stable circular orbit at ~40.5km, with one stage and ~3% fuel left. Did a couple of tiny burns to keep horizontal speed perfect and vertical speed <1m/s. ;D The best part, though, was starting the deorbital burn when KSC was 20° below the horizon. I then squeezed off the last couple drops of to try and nudge myself just a bit father north towards the space center, and, well... Yes, that is after a full orbit! I don't think I could ever do better.
  14. Ah, yes, the classic 'when it doesn't blow up, it's awesome!' approach to space exploration
  15. When I saw the image of Bill, Jeb, and Bob strapped in and rocking, I couldn't help but laugh aloud. It's perfect.
