  1. havent been on here in AGESSSS

  2. Two speed gear box. It works by lowering landing gear into the cogs above. It still needs a lot of love but it works more than it doesn't. Its major problems so far are that you have to switch to the gearbox to change gears and the landing gear sometimes want to do its own thing. Im also working on a version where landing gear slides the selector into place like in real gearboxes but its taking longer to figure out than id hoped. edit: turns out those landing legs break far to easily.
  3. some mechanical things that have caught my eye. Azimechs engine/clutch/axle combo. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/112707-The-Great-Piston-Engine-Thread/page3 A clock building challenge. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/134513-How-big-is-your-clock A mechanical rover. http://kerbalx.com/Mad_Rocket_Scientist/AMRSD-High-roller
  4. Its more about the technology side than craft files but I can understand why you moved it. Im currently making a guide of KME (bearing and the likes) and will link to here.
  5. How far Ive got so far. Its pretty stable and doesnt skip. Each revolution takes 3 seconds. Now to make a version that uses jets and doesnt need clamps.....and is a clock.
  6. how long does the pendulum swing for? This thing has about 3 you swings before loosing all momentum.
  7. Some sweet looking stuff here! Making a clock is on my list of things to do but Im trying to make a boat using a turboprop engine and the f35b fan using a jet turbine at the mo! - - - Updated - - - These things arent to bad though.
  8. So you find the engines in KSP a little underwhelming and think you could do better? Want to build a clock? I want to see all your weird and wonderful creations! Heres a few of mine to get you in the mood.
  9. At the moment its too heavy to really measure but I'm working on a smaller one that gets something in the region of 100 thrust.
  10. With the gun attached to a cubesat (1.3kg) I get the ÃŽâ€v to be 0.1. I think we'll live.
  11. You could attach a bb gun to a satellite and it would be good enough. Just shoot backwards away from your orbital direction at something trying to get into orbit and the difference in velocity would take care of it. Or alternatively you could use the ball bearings as a defensive shield by firing several in the path of incoming missiles although that might not be as effective.
  12. It might be easier to capture whole satellites with a net than tiny pieces of one travelling at 10's of thousands km/s
  13. You might not be able to launch anything to remove the debris.
  14. I think the only weapon you could use in a space battle around the earth would be a net. All the other options risk denying yourself future access to space.
  15. they are simpler to build but you cannot directly control the thrust and you also increase the weight of the shaft you are trying to spin slowing it. Also the part count is the same in my experience. - - - Updated - - - I meant a place where we discuss all things mechanical in ksp not just ice or turboprops. Im working my way though various bearings, gear types, turbine set-ups etc and would like a place where we could all get together to chat. There definitely is a demand for it and I think if you started one it would get more attention than if I made it.
  16. just a quick thought. Should we make a new page for all things mechanical (turboprop or otherwise)?
  17. yeah that sounds like the one. Never realised it was supposed to be for a car though.
  18. KHTRE a Russian ksp builder already made an ice. Have a look on youtube. I'll post a link when I get home.
  19. I trying to build something similar, a mock up of the F-35b, but my engine is still too weak for gearing so far. Is this going form part of a helicopter by any chance?
  20. I think It might make sense if the losers bracket, biplane, and early jet tournament were run by other ppl to speed things up.
  21. could we have a small break between this tournament and the next so we can test the guns, bdarmory etc.
  22. It still needs a lot of work but the basics are there. The Wheesleys turn the rear most blade which in turn drives the front blade. The Wheesleys also provide some forward thrust. Should anyone be interested at having a look or improving the design heres the link for the download http://kerbalx.com/erasmusguy/Tubs-011
  23. you got a craft file of that I'd love to have a nose. Are the fan blades directly connected to the girder because that can led to physics issues unless you use a ton of struts.
  24. My small engine. Needs infinite fuel cheat but only weighs 5t. the inner workings
  25. I still make the odd turbo prop and try to get them airborne. - - - Updated - - -
