  1. I love the mod. Really adds depth to the game. I notice the construction drone does the same. Let me know if you need a screen shot. GREAT WORK!
  2. Was trying to hoist some no name Kerbal to his command module with the KAS winch. He got stuck, so I let a little line out and pulled again. All of a sudden my entire craft shook and my Kerbal was no where to be found. He wasn't in the missing tab so I'm not entirely sure where he went. Maybe this Kerbal is a magician in his spare time. XD
  3. I'm a bit of a minimalist. Large rover goes up side down with a super small stage at the top of my rocket (under my rover) with the engine pointed up. When I get to Mun I decouple and basically have a rover with the smallest possible stageunder it to make it to the ground. Since the stage is short I just undock the rover as the stage falls over. Cheaper than sky cranes. Manned rovers will have a separate RTV.
  4. I suck at building until I unlock mech jeb. Without TWR and delta-v numbers there's some trial and error.
  5. I've never been able to get too far in .90 career mode without starting over because of bugs. I'd like to really be able to do some major building out of my program but stability is a major obstacle.
  6. Aero, resources and game stability are the items I'd like to see in 1.0. Being 1.0 /commercial release I'd imagine stability would be the highest priority. Maybe even 64 bit release.
  7. Tried installing Karbonite /Regolith and couldn't get the hot spots to show. I installed Scan Sat to see if that would show the hot spots. KSP didn't like that. I can see all the parts and I can collect karbonite with the scoop so Karbonite seems to be installed correctly. I'll try removing some other mods to see if I can find any conflicts tonight.
  8. Crashing and burning is the only way to learn the game The forums here are super helpful. Welcome aboard!
  9. Very true. It really is like setting a difficulty level. I appreciate the current level of difficulty so if I make something smaller I add something unnecessary to add weight that will fit with the asthetics of the craft. Probably not a 1 to 1 swap but it keeps the difficulty of the game where I like it. - - - Updated - - - I could share that opinion when 1.0 comes out. Currently I feel so much is missing, I just can't play it stock. I couldn't imagine playing without deadly re-entry and additional space plane parts. Out of curiosity have you completed career mode stock? Just wondering how it went. Been thinking about starting a vanilla career mode game.
  10. MechJeb dis the same for me on docking, ascent and landing. Now I can do it manually. I can do most things faster than mechjeb now so I don't use it for navigating anymore. If I did, I wouldn't consider it cheating because all real world craft have on board navigation. I'm sure the same could be said for FAR.
  11. I used to always forget to add mechjeb. That's brilliant!
  12. On rare occasion I'll create a copy of a decoupler and decrease the power or something like that but 99% of any modifications I make are with tweakscale. For some reason it just kills me that the sci lab jr is so big when I'm building landers (especially for Tylo).
  13. To me the only way to cheat is when you have a mission you're going on that's totally doable without the use of hyperedit or debug but you use it anyway. I use plenty of cheats for testing purposes but when I'm ready to set sail for real Using these features lessens the in game enjoyment for me.
  14. A lot of us have custom configs that some may consider cheating. What special configs do you use? Let's see if the community see's these configs as cheating or an improvement. I always use tweakscale to make the science jr. Lab a little smaller. It just seems too big to me. I add extra landing gear or other equipment to counter the reduced weight. Is this cheating?
  15. Got all my landers and probes configured for Jool 5 challenge. Just need to work on a mothership now.
  16. That would be a super nice mode to add to the current selection.
  17. Lost a few good men last night trying to land on Tylo with a craft that could return to orbit. Damn you Tylo!!!!!
  18. How about a fuel that's biological and alive that feeds off radiation? The more fuel you have the faster they will breed. This way when the tank is full it would be like having a high isp. As the fuel draws down it would replicate much slower. Could be interesting. Also if it feeds off radiation there would be no way for it to replicate on Kerbins surface.
  19. I usually keep two instances of the game open. One sandbox and one career. I use the sandbox for desiging and testing before I commit to anything major in career. Also like to run the second instance so I can design in VAB/SPH while waiting for transfer nodes, doing long burns, etc. Squad definitely needs a way to use VAB while your waiting for things like long burns to complete. The last thing I want to do is stare at a ship while it throttles for 20 minutes. Sandbox does leave something to be desired as a stand alone but is invaluable for testing.
  20. Yup. All about sepratrons and ullage motors!
  21. Would be a great app. Desktop or mobile app would be great. Just loading parts from gamedata instead of loading the entire game would be great. When I get a the urge to work on a new design I can don't have to use my gaming PC. Assuming lower memory use would also be more stable. In addition if I wanted to design while flying another mission that would be great. Imagine being able to use the VAB durring those long burns or long descents. There would just be a lot more flexibility.
  22. I love this thing! is the craft file available for dl?
  23. Built a container with a rover in it to do a test drop from orbit. When I saw I was going to crash into the ocean I went EVA to avoid going down with the ship. Iearned three things here. 1) Much like humans, kerbals legs are NOT strong enough to stand when slamming into an atmosphere. 2) It is quite a sight to watch a kerbal bounce all over inside a container when he hit the water. Kind of funny in a strange way. 3) Kerbals can swim!!!! :-)
  24. I don't do the math either but I can rendezvous much quicker than Mech Jeb. Just set a manouver node and drag it around your orbit until you see an encounter. If you're too far away increase/decrease altitude In order to get a little closer before you look for the encounter.
