  1. Bob Fitch does this at the beginning of his Odyssey series, but it's not from one craft. He does three separate launches and aligns them so that the two on the other side of Kerbin can communicate with the one in Keosynchronous orbit above Mission Control. He also uses MechJeb to determine his orbital period to match Kerbin's, which is far more accurate that using the Keosynchronous orbit altitude mentioned in the Wiki here. +Rep to previous mentioners
  2. This has been mentioned in other threads and within this one as well. I think a set of optional utilities that could be packaged inside or outside of the game would be useful to most players. Much like procedural parts, this would allow the game to become "procedural" and give a lot more flexibility to those players that want to not only customize their own game, but give others ideas on how to customize their own. A check list for not only starting a space program but progressing it would be an awesome addition to help newer players get their bearings. Maybe this might be a different way to look at tutorials? For example, have in-game achievements that are not necessarily tied to contracts that will allow players to progress gradually through the game, allowing players who don't know what to do next to reach the next level in their program.
  3. I think that in the spirit of new players, highlighting some of the more popular mods is a good thing. Especially one that enhances the game in orders of magnitude. On the flip side of that, it is nice to hear about some of the lesser known mods that may offer different gameplay that no one has thought of before.
  4. Ha! I do this all the time. I just want to see the rest of the craft...
  5. Hello fellow Kerbalnauts (Kerbonauts?)!!! I (graciously) broke down after playing the demo off and on for about a year and bought the full game right after it went beta. I've logged a little more than 200 hours and this game has got me hooked. I'd like to say that I'm in it for the long haul, but I haven't accomplished all that much! I've only ventured as far as Minmus (with the help of dear, Mr. Manley) and have been more keen to test out different mods and parts and see what the community that has been built around this game has to offer. I'm interested the most in pushing my space program forward and developing neat looking (and practical) craft that can accomplish this goal. I have set up a satellite communication system with guidance from Bob Fitch and his Projects Alexandria and Odyssey, and am deeply interested in the idea of a self-sustaining extra-planetary base of some kind using the Karbonite, K+, Kethane, etc. resource mods in conjunction with other station/base mods like MKS/OKS and the like. I love the artistic aspect of this game as well. While I don't have a really awesome computer right now (MacBook Air 13"), it runs the game fairly well, despite my GameData folder being overwhelmed with mods. I have tried my hand at some Blender renders as well, and have not been overly successful, but I'm hoping that when I do finally get some sweet spaceships and learn how to use Blender, I can share my stuff with everyone! Thanks for having me in this great community and I'll see you at the launchpad!!! footforhire p.s. anyone that can point me to how to add a signature line and change my avatar would be greatly appreciated!
  6. I just started playing around with Blender and wanted to render one of my own ships that is made up entirely of mod parts. The textures came out a bit funky. Any suggestions for how to (in general) do better?
