  1. I installed Ubuntu just so I can run the x64 bit version of KSP and it runs well. There is a whole Linux tread on the forums that will help you with all your questions. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/92231-The-Linux-Thread?highlight=linux+thread All the mods I use (and I use a lot) have been Linux compatible and yes Steam works well with Linux. I don't use CKAN so I'm no help there.
  2. Clipping wings or other structural parts to make the ship a certain way is certainly not cheating IMO. Fitting engines inside tanks and still using the full capacity of the tank if cheaty indeed.
  3. Sounds great guys. I wish you great luck in this venture. I know it will be a great day when we can all experience KSP on Unity 5.
  4. The OP expressed my views and issues with the 1.0 perfectly. Thank you r4pt0r ! I've reverted back to my .90 game, until some of these memory leaks and crashes are finally addressed. - - - Updated - - - Congrats, you where lucky not to have game crash. Many others however continue to have severe game crashes at certain points in the game. Its not about "doing things the way you always did before". Its about being able to play the game without constantly crashing to the desktop.
  5. I have been trying to return from orbit a few times and KSP keeps crashing as soon as I get within a few km from the ground. I'm going to try the F10 fix and see if that fixes it. The only items that were showing overheating were the four landing struts.
  6. Most of what you said is true, about the upgrade being a big project and taking time and resources. Likewise, there is a chance that there are new bugs in Unity 5. Nevertheless, Unity 5 is out there and massive amounts of developers are using it, and doing amazing things with it. Yes, the Win64 problems were caused by the Unity 4 engine issues. However, Unity has address those issues, and many others, and has released a new and updated version. Therefore, in now falls to Squad to update its engine so that these limitations and bugs are fixed. You can't pass the problem off to Unity anymore. They've done their part, now its time for Squad to do theirs.
  7. Absolutely agree. No matter how much I love this game, this "release" version is not worthy of the name.
  8. I wasn't criticizing the testers. Only the decision to release without a bigger beta exposure first. Ideally this version should have been .99 My point is that the major bugs being reported are due to the new features, which is an obvious sign that these features needed more testing in a larger sampling pool.
  9. We all knew this was going to happen. You can't expect a version that never went through a thorough testing cycle to be bug free. Had 1.0 been just an optimized and debugged version of .90, then it most likely wouldn't need a hot-fix. Adding so many new features and releasing them after only going through the experimentals leads to a buggy final release. The bugs being reported are all tied to the new features. This is why I don't get too excited about release dates anymore. Companies continually rush software through the last stages to get it out. Customers are then treated as testers for the buggy release. I'm not blaming Squad, this is common place in the industry now. I'm sure missing a release date would probably cost them more in the long run. Never the less, this has taught me to postpone purchasing new games or devises until after the first few months.
  10. I was very close to calling out of work this morning so I can spend all day playing 1.0. I'm glad I didn't since its still not live and I would have been climbing up walls with anxiety.
  11. While we all patiently wait for 1.0 to come out, enjoy these rare photos from the Gemini missions: http://thechive.com/2015/04/27/rare-pics-from-inside-nasas-gemini-missions-17-photos/
  12. Well that is something to look forward to indeed! thank you
  13. Since x64 was pulled from .90 recently and its been stated that it will most likely not be included in 1.0, I'm wondering if this is also true for the Linux version of this game. I'm loving x64 on Linux and I hope I can continue to do so in 1.0.
  14. The current tank is very useful so I'd hate to lose it from Stock. To simplify and reduce the number of tanks though, why not make them all modular so that the resource for each can be changes in the VAB. B9 uses this for their parts and I love it.
  15. Optimization and bug fixes. If you really want to be out of beta, that is what you need to concentrate on. If you release a game full of bugs and crashes, than you are poised for disaster.
  16. I would much rather see optimization and bug fixes in 1.0 than any other features or add-ons. I love KSP but without the mods it not quite the same. Especially the beautification mods. I have an incredibly beefy PC, able to run the newest games in ultra settings and its so sad to see it come to a crawl in KSP when flying bigger ships or stations. Now that Unity 5 is out, I really REALLY hope that more resources are used to optimize this game. Lack of even simply hardware support/utilization is really not something that should be part of an official release. Additionally, even though I installed Linux 64 so that I can get the most use of this game, lacking full 64bit support in Windows in 2015 is rather laughable.
  17. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Interstellar and KSPI Extended but I keep running into this problem, I have an Attila engine connected directly to either a Liquid Fuel tank or an Argon Tank, and everytime the engine flames out due to "LiquidFuel Fuel Deprived" or "ArgonGas Fuel Deprived". My reactors are generating Megajoules correctly, so I'm pretty sure its not a power issue. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
