  1. We don't know for sure that they're Thargoids. but i think they are
  2. I can't load the page. How close are they supposed to get?
  3. It got very warm today. Relatively. It reached something like 11 degrees. I didn't need my coat.
  4. Hey, can you guys please do this? Thanks!
  5. Saw it today, was great. I liked Episode 7 better though.
  6. I commute on foot, and every day I pass this shovelled snow pile next to somebody's driveway that's like five feet tall. I sometimes stick my arm out and knock the top off as I pass it. I shovelled my backyard this afternoon. Underneath one of the multiple snow piles, there are two Muskoka chairs and a small glass table. There's a larger glass table under another snow pile. Places that haven't been shoveled have more than a foot of snow on the ground. It technically isn't even winter yet. I gotta be honest, I find it hilarious. I like the cold, except when it's too cold, which is a lot of the time. My favourite temperature to be outside in is probably around ten or twelve degrees Celsius (50-54 Fahrenheit).
  7. We could build and launch a little gravity wheel thingy to LEO and put mice in it to see whether the substitute gravity will have any effects on living things different than real gravity. There's also ethical questions we should be asking about these kinds of things.
  8. So in the thing I'm writing (it has no name) there is a group of people that go out on a hunt. They are getting food for their tribe. There's about fifteen of them in he hunt. They are at the technological level we were at before we could control fire. So they don't have fire or anything technological. They have like spears but that is about it. Is there a way they could make some sort of bag? The materials available would be wild animals (some quite large) and grass, plants, and trees. They don't have rope or anything they could use as rope, and they don't have sewing or knitting. Anyway. Is it possible to make a bag of some sort using those things?
  9. I'm impressed that we could detect it, but to be honest I'm not surprised that one exists.
  10. I shouldn't have to wade through foot-high snowdrifts in November.
  11. Where I am, it was 17 degrees Celsius on Friday. That was the day before yesterday. Fifty hours later and I've been stuck inside from a blizzard all day. It's been two days. Gee whiz.
  12. Nice! Although, Real Saturn's rings are made of cryovolcanic activity from its moons.
  13. We need to start posting these kinds of things a couple days in advance.
  14. A sphere is best for this. For each containing thing anyway. Spheres don't need to be aerodynamic and they aren't. You get the most volume for your surface area, and you get the least surface area for your volume, and spheres hold in pressure the best. I envision a big spherical fuel tank with a smaller sphere or a torus in front for habitation. And the engine on the back. If it's supposed to be able to aerobrake then it gets a little different. I'd put the habitation behind the fuel, and the engine somehow behind the habitation. On struts with a hose feeding fuel and oxidizer to it or something. Bottom line is, they'll probably be ugly.
  15. Funny that XKCD made that three days after it popped up here. Do we have Randall Munroe among us? Maybe he saw it.
  16. So when is it out? Or when is the first part out? EDIT: Never mind, it's the 14th.
  17. @Kuzzterwas that Guinea pig already living there when you got the place?
  18. Thanks! Yeah it does. No way around that that I've found, but present tense works.
  19. I wrote this for a writing prompt on Reddit. We had to use 3 or less e's in an apocalyptic story. Edit: made edits to both copies of the story.
