  1. Inspired by the lovely Star-Wars mod for Homeworld 2, i thought that why not have some fleet battles in KSP without a ton of lag. And so, i started to build a micro scale fleet of ship to have some real combat with. Part-count and proper scale would be most important. And with scale, i mean scale between ships, for example, once i've completed the CR-90 corvette, i will try to scale the Imperial class so that the CR-90 will fit inside it's hangar as it should. Tough some down scaling will happen so that i can keep the part count reasonably small. I decided that a part-count of about 100 per ship would be a nice goal, as then i would be able to pair more than two ships against each-other. IMPORTANT: As you may have guessed by now, getting tweakscale is pretty important. I also wanted the ships to be properly armed as otherwise it would just be a ramming war. So, BD-armory is a requirement. You will also need to use some cheats, Set orbit and infinite propellant. Because of this part saving effort, some of the ships may look a little thrown together, so don't expect any beautiful super detailing. But, there may be a chance i will do some larger scale super detailed replicas of some of the ships. Tough i don't think i will end up doing anything bigger than the CR-90 Correlian Corvette (part-count vs scale becomes a real issue with bigger fleet ships). Now, you might be wondering that what kind of ships may we be expected to see. Here's a list of the ones i will be doing. Clone wars stuff: Recusant class support-destroyer. Done Arquentins class light-cruiser. Venator class star-destroyer. Consular class cruiser. Done Rebellion vs Empire stuff: Rebellion: CR-90 Correlian Corvette/Blockade-runner. Nebulon-B escort-frigate. Assault-frigate MK-1 MC-80 b Empire: Victory I class star-destroyer. Imperial class star-destroyer. Tartan Patrol cruiser. Interdictor cruiser. And here's some stuff i may do. Super star-destroyer Executor. It's going to be huge even in these scales , but i will still try to make one. Home-one/independence class. would be nice to have one but i fear it's gonna eat far too many parts because of all the dozens of extrusions/humps or whatever you wanna call those things that are all over those Mon-calamari...something ships. Without them it wouldn't really look right. Plus there's scale and part count to worry about, tough it's not as bad as with the Executor. some other smaller cruisers, frigates and corvettes. If i feel like doing some more ships once the others are done and dusted. I may even have a go at creating a couple of my own Star-Wars style ships . Completed ships: Recusant class support-destroyer Consular class cruiser More will be coming soon. And there you have it, a bunch of star-ships for all you galaxy saving/conquering needs. I hope you enjoy my little fleet .

    A little custom papermodel project

Just taught you guys might be interested to see some of my handy-work in the real world . Plus, at the end of this, you guys will get a chance to make your own as-well. It'll take some time for me to make that happen, as i need to copy all the parts and lay them on to A4 sized areas and then plot PDF's out of all of them. I'm using AutoCad and a big plotter, so everything is printed on to an 4xA4 sized sheet. But in the mean time, ill be posting pics and info on the project, as-well as constant updates, so you guys will get to see what the thing looks like before and after the build. While i'm still hanging around my old school (technically i've finished everything and i'm just waiting to get my papers), i decided to use take one of my notebook paper-model projects to the next level. In this case, an approximately 1:50 scale paper model of a Finnish armored train. It seems the train is actually closer to 1:70 scale. Or to be specific, a model of the train that is currently held in the Parola armor museum, witch is comprised of what's left over from Panssarijuna 1 (armored train 1), with an unarmored locomotive that never saw any action. Mine one will include the actual locomotive that was used on one of the two Finnish armored trains. Below is a collage of all the stuff that the paper-model train has. (the flatcars on both ends are there to be cheap cannon-fodder, for example if the track is broken or is wired with explosives, they will take the full brunt while the rest of the train will remain mostly unharmed. The front artillery car is from an old captured Russian armored train, that was captured well before WW2 and was modified multiple times during and before winter war and the continuation war, from an artillery car into an AA gun car. the second artillery car is a captured Russian PL-37 artillery car that was captured during WW2, other than a new paint-job, it's remained mostly untouched. The locomotive is a Finnish TK3 locomotive with an armored body-shell. The car behind the tender used to be an artillery car, but was later on modified into a command/kitchen car. The last carriage also started it's life as an artillery car, but was later on modified in to an AA gun car as it seemed like a better idea to use trains for AA support roles rather than front-line artillery support, as parts of the track where often blown to bits, potentially trapping the train, and because there was a general lack of AA protection for the trains from air attacks. The cars that weren't captured, where built/modified in Fredriksberg Works) If you wanna read more in to the history of these trains, go check this site out http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/TRAINS0.htm This was a project that i actually started quite a long ago by drawing 2D pictures of the locomotive/tender and all the other carriages on my school notebook. This is a style i like to use when designing my own paper models, as after i have a good 2D picture of it, i can pretty much then see the entire 3D model in my head. Then i can very quickly draw out the necessary parts to create that model. The main reason why i use school notebooks to do these designs, is because i actually measure a lot of my things by the squares on the pages. Like for example, my first custom tank that i made, had a hull that was 6x4x2 squares in size with a turret that was 2x2x2 sized with a gun-barrel that was 2x1x1 squares in size (i have created a whole series of vehicles based on that tank i did years ago). It wont create the cleanest of designs, but at least it's pretty impossible to get crooked lines and wrong measurements (tough i still do make mistakes every now and then). It may be a little difficult to get it right in the start, but there's nothing more pleasing than to get a model of your favorite thing made in any scale you want with a level of difficulty that suites you , rather than having to find a model on the internet only to find out that you have to pay a fortune and its also way too complicated . I didn't have a real scale in mind when i started to design this thing, i just drew the locomotive/tender so that it fit exactly on an A4 sheet length wise, witch by complete luck made this thing almost exactly 1:50 scaled. Scale wasn't all that important, plus it was would have been pretty impossible to even scale the thing in the first place as there are no real measurements of any parts of this train around, but i still wanted to see in what scale this thing was in for fun, plus, it helped in getting the trains crew to be of the right size. So, i measured it by scaling some 2D Finnish soldiers from Junior General to 1:50 scale (somehow accidentally scaled them to almost exactly 1:72 scale), and then used some pictures of actual people standing next to the train to see if my crew figures where roughly the size they where supposed to be. After i had drawn everything on my notebook, i redrew and enhanced all the picture i had in AutoCad (can only do that in school as an AutoCad license can cost a few grand), and then started making all the parts for the train one by one. It took me about 4-6 hours per train car (minus the super simple flat cars)plus all the previous work that was put into making the original plans. And here are some picks of what's going on with the project so far. And sorry in advanced, i was supposed to take some WIP shots of the locomotive build, but i forgot . Why not start off with the locomotive witch was the first thing i got done. The actual locomotive was a Finnish built TK3 locomotive that was equipped with an armored body shell. It was later on equipped with a very innovative stealth system, the pipe that you see running from the front of the train to the back, its used to transport the smoke from the main smoke stack under the train, making tracking of the trains movement by it's smoke-trail very difficult. I made some mistakes when designing it, that i didn't notice until i started building it, those won't be on the release version. The next part i wanna do is the Kitchen car. The Kitchen car is done now. WIP/instructional shots are inside the spoiler. While i do that and all the other cars, i'll have to do the crew of the train as-well. Say hello to the crew. I made the bases by just cutting the left over paper into little white rectangles. WIP/instructional shots are inside the spoiler. Those little guys are just copied and re-scaled stuff found on this site Junior General. It's more of a collection of random Finnish troops with some gun crews meant for 76 mm AA guns. If i wanted gun crews for the 3 40mm Bofors guns, i would have had to make my own or use US or British gun crews instead. The AA gun car is propably the most time consuming of all the armored cars, but also my favorite. WIP/instructional shots are inside the spoiler. The PL-37 artillery car went together no problem at all with no errors to report WIP/instructional shots are inside the spoiler. The forward artillery car needs a roof job, as there are big holes on it, but other than that, it went together just fine. Tough the gun commander now has to use the observation cupola as there's no room for him on the turret. WIP/instructional shots are inside the spoiler. There will most likely still be stuff that needs to be redesigned/fixed, but that's just part of the process, test builds have to be done to make sure everything works. It's done now, and here is the download link (does not include the crew nor the recolored tanks as im not sure about the rights in stuff like that). Oh, and btw, even tough they don't show up on any of the picks, the model still has the Finnish swastikas) https://www.dropbox.com/s/o4uoluos4d16a39/Finnish armored train paper model.zip?dl=0 As is said at the start of the post, ill be constantly updating this, so be sure to follow if your interested. And i hope you enjoy watching this little project take shape .

    A little custom papermodel project

Alright, time for the big update. The model is now up for download. Im really sorry it took me this long to include the file with all the PDF's needed to make the models and their variants, i genuinely forgot about it.
  4. The X-68 "Interceptor Test Bed" or ITB for short, is a big RC plane that was originally created for aerodynamics testing, for a next gen carrier interceptor program. All the people involved where quite impressed with how the plane seemed to be able to do anything it was asked to do, and how it was able to manouver around any obstacle the KSC was able throw at it. After the program ended, some of our engineers sto...erm asked if they could keep the ITB and turn it into the best RC park flyer in all of Kerbin. It has kept our wannabe fly-boys entertained during their coffee-brakes for a long time. Unfortunetly the ITB has lost it's edge and doesn't fly like it used to. This model fighter was designed by one our retro enthusiast engineers to have a bit of fun with. It's the best of the three in terms of maneuverability, and overall fun factor. Oh, and there's this as-well. This one is a very large RC plane that was done as a recreation of an old aircraft type that never got made, but witch had full blueprints in the storage vault. The blueprints where for an improved "protected cargo plane" that was supposed to replace the aging Raven transports. The air-arm didn't have a need for such a large transport, nor did they feel the need to arm them, so the project was cancelled. The model plane has featured in many airshows and exhibits. Here's a download link for those who want to try them out: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wnzra63g3muhm7n/Mini planes KSP.zip?dl=0
  5. Thanks . Nah, i've never really been interested on the P-47, but a heavy bomber tough, i did do the B-29 and the B-17 before, but i think it would be quite fun to make a replica of the Lancaster B Mk.III.
  6. Alright, i guess i could make a couple, as it's been a long time since i've made any jet replicas. Name your favorites. I might as well whip up a couple of my own that ive been wanting to make for a while, namely the F-101 Voodoo and the Foxbat/Foxhound.
  7. Yep, it's certainly been a while and i really hope to see some results from the project one day. Thanks .

    Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread

A little over an hour (little over half an hour now) of 2017 left here in Finland, so i think it's time for an end of the year update. Let's start of with the UCS HE-111. I really REALLY wanted to upload it on christmas eve, but there was a lot more work involved than i originally taught, so i wasn't able to get it done in time, and after christmas there was a lot of visits back and forth around Finland. But, i have gotten a lot of it done. Just need to finish up the wings, engines, other control surfaces and landing gears. And then there's also the job of setting up and tweaking all the IR stuff. This time i will be animating the yoke, rudder pedals, landing-gear lever, flap lever and throttle levers so that they move with their respective components. The aircraft also has a paint job witch has taken extra time to do. And yes, i've used tweakscale on the thing. As for the two carriers i promised to upload this month...well, i've been going a bit back and forth, but have now decided not to make separate posts about them, as i don't feel like there's really anything to say about them that i wouldn't have said on my previous KNS related posts, it's all pretty usual stuff. And i have also decided that i should upload some other ships whit these. So, instead of just getting a couple of carriers, you'll be getting a huge navy expansion pack, that will include 6-7 new ships, and 7 new navy aircraft of different types. That actually reminds me, that i have been planning for quite some time to make a new KNS related post, that would be a place where people could download a bunch ready made and tested ship hulls, naval guns, aircraft catapults and what not, as i have a lot of navy based sub-assemblies and ship hull crafts. What do you guys think.

    Tornado 7 and X Tornado

Tornado 7 Yes, my signature craft is back, better than ever before. It's sleeker, faster, and more maneuverable, tough not by much. The design is still very much based on the original Tornado-5, witch as some of you may remember, was the first craft i ever showcased on the forums. The base design for this was made during the 1.3 prerelease, as i like to either majorly update or build a new custom Tornado craft every time there's a major update. And keeping with that spirit, i made a very special upgrade to the Tornado 7 once 1.3.1 came along. The original design of the Tornado 7 included more traditional bi-plane style wings instead of the half x-wing style ones. But after including them in an alternate version, i just liked them so much more that i decided to use those instead. And that's why there are no ejector seats in the thing, as if built by the original plans, they would have broken some necks. And i kinda got why all the Tornado crafts in the Sonic series (minus the Tornado 1) have had the upper wings in cockpit level when i tried to get some nice screenshots of the craft with it's original wing design. It kinda hides the pilot a little. So, what is this special upgrade your talking about, well, it's not really an upgrade, as much as it is an alternative version of the craft. Say hello to Miles Kerman himself. He was created using a whole bunch of tweakscaled stock parts that where later on painted with DCK. It was pretty much inevitable that i would create something like this at some point, well, i actually did do it before. And incase your wondering about size, when standing he is pretty much exactly 1m tall (20cm taller than in the games) or pretty much exactly as tall as the Kerbals. Another special thing i made, is a new paint job. I was originally supposed to make the red version, similar to the painted Tornado 6, but i taught that the ship bottom red just wasn't bright red enough, so i went for the blue scheme instead. I had to put quite a few extra parts in to make the paint job as complete as possible. For example, tripled main wings, extra bits on the lower fuselage, a new "propeller spinner", and so on. And then there is ofcource Miles Kerman that adds to the overall part count by quite a bit. But fear not, the original version still exists. And here is a video showing what it can do. Technical specs: Tornado 7 Top speed: 156 m/s Length: 11.1m Wingspan: 12m Height: 16.9m (Kerbal loading system included) Mass: 13.148 tons parts: 154 Mods used: (basic version) Airplane plus. Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2yx60c9n5w677i1/Tornado-7_5.craft?dl=0 X-Tornado Yes, the X-Tornado is back aswell. This time in its third incarnation. It too is now better than ever before, mainly in the fact that it is now easy to fly, instead of you having to fight against it to keep it under control. It also now has folding wings witch allowed me to put proper landing gears in it. The X-Tornado also provides the pilot with two "flight modes" If you want to take to the max, simply fly at full throttle, and you can do some amazing stuff with it, so long as you can keep it under control. But, if you want a pleasant fight, just put the throttle at 2/3 and you'll be able to pull up and down and any witch way as hard as you want without having to worry about losing control. You can see what im talking about on the flight demonstration video below. Technical specs: X-Tornado Top speed: 344 m/s (low altitude) over a 1000 m/s (high altitude) Length: 13.9m Wingspan: 10m Height: 5.2m Mass: 19.339tons parts: 161 Mods used: Infernal Robotics. Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qa2lxj14sgzyf7s/X-Tornado.craft?dl=0 Tornado 1 As a little bonus i recreated the ye original Tornado from the golden ages of the series. Sorry, but due to the aircraft not wanting to fly other than in a straight line for some reason, this is all the info your gonna get. And there it is, the current collection of Tornado crafts. I hope you'll be able to enjoy them as much as i have .

    A little custom papermodel project

Thanks . Would have been even more adorable if i made it in it's original scale, witch would have made it about the same size as my fingertip. And good news everyone, i got all of the models, and there variants made into PDF format, so now i can organize them and release them probably tomorrow.
  11. Yes, the name maby sightly inspired by my love for the C&C games. Kerbal Defence Initiative Welcome, KDI is our newely formed global security company that is charged with keeping world peace. And to do that, we need the latest and greatest in weapons technology, with some good old reliable stuff in there as-well. Our inventory includes a whole host of different vehicles from fighters to super-heavy-bombers, and from small armed jeeps to heavy-tanks and huge ICBM launchers. If you are wondering about naval combat, that's still handled by the KNS. For a long time i've used a naming system for my aircraft's and ground vehicles, and here is the legend that will allow you to identify them. Aircrafts: KTA=Kerbal Trainer Aircraft KF=Kerbal Fighter KSA=Kerbal Strike Aircraft KLB=Kerbal Light Bomber KMB=Kerbal Medium Bomber KHB=Kerbal Heavy Bomber KSHB=Kerbal Super Heavy Bomber KTP=Kerbal Transport plane KRP=Kerbal Reconnaissance Plane. Ground vehicles: KTT=Kerbal Transport Truck KMCC=Kerbal Mobile Construction Crane KPC=Kerbal Personnel Carrier KLT=Kerbal Light Tank KMBT=Kerbal Main Battle Tank KFV=Kerbal Fighting vehicle KTD=Kerbal Tank Destroyer KML=Kerbal Mobile Launcher AIR-FORCE Fighter Command The spearhead of our flying forces. These are the planes that are tasked with protecting our skies and our lands with the latest and greatest in interceptor and ground attack aircraft technology. Bomber Command The high flying and hard hitting side of the air-force. These are the planes that will send you a big warm welcome from overseas. Support Aircraft The support sector is the backbone of our military operations. These planes are tasked to keep an eye on the enemy and direct our forces to take them out. GROUND FORCES Assault Forces MBT's, APC's, armored cars, these are the first in line in any combat operation. Tactical ICBM Force When bombings and naval bombardments aren't enough, you can always send a warm welcome on the nose of a modified space-rocket to the farthest reaches of Kerbin. Defense Forces These guys will keep watch and shoot anything that comes too close. Support/Engineering Forces Recovering vehicles, building FOB's and defences, these guys will take care of it. Here is the list of mods currently in use with the project (mods used differs between crafts). IMPORTANT:(I wasn't supposed to include SXT in my mod list, but, this mod happens to include MK0 fuel-tanks witch are indistinguishable from the stock ones, so some of the crafts have these in them, and i don't know witch ones. Sorry ). I will be uploading new crafts every now and then, so be sure to follow if you are interested. I have about a couple dozen crafts waiting to be put up, and more will be made. I hope you enjoy this little army

Kerbal Defence Initiative (now with two new crafts)

Alright, the first crafts have been added. And they are the two ballistic missile launchers that i have, the good old KBM-300 and the all new Honest jeb. You'll find them under the Tactical ICBM Force.

    A little custom papermodel project

Sorry for the long silence, but i got some stuff in the way, and i kinda forgot to make one of the updates that i was supposed to do. So, what's the progress then, the progress is this: The main part of the train project is now done (minus the flat cars witch where made as a bonus in a few minutes). Next Monday ill be able to start working on fixing all the mistakes and plotting everything to PDF, so that i can release this model to the public. There are a few bits on the AA gun whose positions could be marked, the roof of the forward artillery car has to be fixed and the bottom plate of it flipped the other way around so that the position markers for the wheels and the plow at the front point in the proper direction. Oh, and remember those 1:72 scale Finnish tank models i was talking about..well, decided that instead of going and buying a bunch of Russian tank models and some hugely expensive decal sets, i did this: It was originally a 1:250 scale Russian T-26 made by R & P Models that i re-scaled and recolored myself. Here's a list of the ones i recolored: T-26 Light tank (single tone and 3 tone camo versions) T-28 Medium tank (single tone camo only) BA-10/BA-6 Armored car (single tone only)(includes turrets for BA-6 and BA-10 versions) FAI-M Armored car (single tone and 3 tone camo versions)

I'm really more into just making my own stuff instead of using others crafts. Sorry.

    Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread

Time for an end of the year update. The new KDI post is up, witch means that i can finally start emptying the majority of my backlog of crafts. First of witch will be the upgraded KBM-300 that i promised a long time ago. It took a little extra work to get it done as one of the newer updates crippled it, causing the launch box to brake apart every-time i tried to lift it up. Luckily, all it needed was a few struts. I also threw in a couple extra upgrades in there aswell. So here's a couple shots from the first successful test launch in a long time. EDIT: Hmm...looks like it's time to upgrade the old trailer hitching system as-well. EDIT: Looks like the new hitching system doesn't work that well either. Other stuff that will be coming this month includes: UCS HE 111 (as promised) Two new Tornado crafts and two new carriers with a new 3 new carrier planes and 3 new replica carrier planes. And of-course some stuff to the KDI post.

    A little custom papermodel project

Alright, time for an update again. Im happy to announce that the next two weeks will be pretty much empty for me witch gives me plenty of time to continue this project. My current goal is to get the build done by the end of next week, so that i can get the build testing phase over with and fix all and any errors, so that i can release the model before Christmas. I got another one of the cars done as-well. I've said it once, and ill say it again, i think that the added crew just makes it look way more awesome Next in line will be the captured PL-37 artillery car.

    A little custom papermodel project

Well, i also have big box full of unfinished models (tanks, planes, ships, trucks...etc) that i should one day finish. I kinda just do what i feel like doing instead of building something that i printed months ago as it keeps things more fun.

There are still some models of the Saturn V available, all on the same site as-well. One of them is in 1:96 scale, one is in 1:48 scale, and there is a micro version with the launch-tower as-well. http://jleslie48.com/gallery_models.html Just select Apollo-era.

    A little custom papermodel project

Glad to see people that actually know of this hobby, as i don't think even one of my friends had ever even heard of this hobby before i came along. i've been building papermodels for over 10 years now, and i can say i still enjoy it, but it has sort of lost it's shine, as these days i kinda have to commit myself to do them instead of just building them all the time like i used to, tough back them my build quality was a lot more rushed and rubbish. Pretty much all off my early work is gone now too. Just the best of the best and the most recent remains. I think i've built something like 200 or so model since the start of this hobby. Man, the amount money on the ink alone .

    A little custom papermodel project

Censoring is complete and all the original picks are back. And here's a little bonus. Because i wanted to do it, and knew that i could do it quickly, i decided to add variants for 3 of the cars. If you don't want to have a kitchen car, you can opt for the machine gun car. It's basically just a texture switch. If you want to have a little more punch in your train, you can switch out the forward artillery car for the earlier variant witch has a 75mm mountain-gun on the nose turret. And here's an alternative AA gun car. The Bofors gun on the nose has been swapped out for an old 75mm naval-gun that works as an AA gun. The car also has a searchlight as an added bonus. I will test build the AA gun car variant, but probably not the others as they will work as long as the base versions work.

    A little custom papermodel project

Got a message from @Vanamonde saying that the Finnish swastikas where a little too inappropriate for the forums (should have known), so i'm gonna have to do some censoring. On another note, here's a little update. This weekend was more relaxation, so that's why there hasn't been much progress, but at-least i got this done. I think having the crew really livens it up by quite a bit. Just have to do 2 more of these.
