  1. KER, KJR and KAC are all really necessary. Though I have to add, Final Frontier, KAS/KIS, Kerbal Construction Time (After all it is stupid you can build and launch hundreds of rockets, yet never leave the first day!), SCANSat, Docking Alignment, Orbital Science. On the visual side there are a lot, planetshine, DOE, EVE. There are loads more, that I run, but, those 3 are the base ones that I must have.
  2. Well the tail connector is really just an elongated nose cone, so it should have good performance. The question is should you have one on the front AND one on the back? Also Scott Manley doesn't even use fuel. He gets to orbit by will alone!
  3. basically, yes, having a Butt implant will improve performance, though obviously with the nukes you would need to decouple the cone before you use the engine.
  4. Seems to be to do with the physics. I built a 441 part rocket for testing. When it came to launching it was noticeably lagging even on the launchpad, but only whenever something to do with the physics was changed, so accelerating in this case, decelerating while in the air, turning. they all were delayed and then lagging when they were in action. however anything non-physics related such as clouds, the terrain, even spinning the mouse to look in a different direction, were all instant and without lag. Must be where the single thread is trying to work out the physics for so many parts at once, but there does seem to be a threshold limit around 350 parts.
  5. Sadly no. But Unity 5 fixes a lot of the current engine problems. Majorjim has suggested it could be the garbage collection process in the current engine causing the issues, but he is going to do some more testing.
  6. Great piece of work Levelord. Not only technically, but the aesthetics of it as well. That's some fine looking craft right there!
  7. Mate just drop it now. No one said teachers were morons. I actually said they are under-paid which implies the opposite. As to flouting education. I wasn't flouting, merely giving the reply some grounding to show that I wasn't being completely dense. Though you seem to want an argument either way. Best to just get back to the game because really this is getting rather pathetic. The poor guy that posted this innocent and great post would have seen it dragged into the mire for utter nonsense, which is completely unfair on them. Let us just put this to bed as it is really not doing anyone any favours.
  8. Are either of you getting error messages in error logs in either KSP or Windows?
  9. Oh damn I misread the title. I thought you said you were going to make video games not game videos! But either way, this is a KSP forum so the answer is always going to be KSP, but you knew that anyway right? Just needed someone to justify the selection to you?
  10. Coke. As if there was a choice?! Like in the film "The Invention of Lying" Pepsi has an advert on the side of a bus that reads: "Pepsi, for when there is no Coke"
  11. Would love to see the ISS. I have seen pretty much all the planets and some satellites. See Jupiter and Saturn through the big telescope at Greenwich Royal Observatory (London, England). I don't think it is possible to see a more humbling sight. I am not normally lost for words, but there really are no words to describe the sheer majesty of the sight. Highly recommended!
  12. Yeah it can be overcome. But there are times when you might just want to build something very efficient rather than very realistic.
  13. I try to play stock whenever a new version has been released. But after a few hours of building rockets and constantly switching to the map to see the AP. I give up and get KER. It is the first and most essential mod. Having the dV, TWR and when in flight the AP is just too invaluable to ignore. But I am finding that KCT is getting to be a necessity for me as well. What is the point in contracts giving you years to complete them when you can launch several years worth of rockets without leaving the first day???!!!
  14. What I tend to do is place a girder between the upper and lower part, strut the two together, then remove the girder and put the fairing in. Then the struts magically reappear clipped through the fairing base when I re-attach the bottom section.
  15. You have a hell of a lot of struts. They have mass now where they didn't before. See this thread for details: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/122688-Something-doesn-t-seem-right-here
  16. Did you get any of the heating guages appear while testing? They have a memory leak that gets progressively worse. When they appear turn them off with F10 and it should stop the issue.
  17. Linear mate, you really need to take a chill pill. You are not making sense. What you perceive to be a slight against someone is clearly not. Maybe something has been lost in translation or you have your own personal issues that you really should not bring into this. Also stop taking things so literally! I know the physics in KSP will not get you any jobs, it was partly a joke, and partly because it can inspire people to learn. I studied Astro-physics at QMW in London and got to assist one of the PhD students working on the Huygens probe, so I know the physics is off in the game. But it is just that a game! Still it doesn't detract from the fact that I hope this young lad takes this community to heart and it propels him to great things in his life. Depression is a monster, if we all help in some little way to keep it down for someone, then as human beings we have done something good.
  18. don't worry, it will be over soon enough, then when you are earning lots as a rocket scientist (Thank you KSP), you will look back and think that it was all worth while!
  19. Yes some are cursed. Also had a rocket recently I was going to use for a rescue on a bad elliptical orbit on a severe inclination between LKO and the edge of the SOI. Thankfully using KCT so never actually built it, but had to return to redesign it about 15 times. Weight distribution was good, TWR was good, ascent was typical, not too fast, not too slow. Added fins (of ever increasing size), added the Advanced SAS module and inline reaction wheel. Tried everything and yet, it would always flip just as I was about to decouple the first stage, every single time!!! Very annoying. Abandoned it in the end, just used one of my normal rockets to do the rescue and gently bump the pod into a Kerbin impact to get rid of the evidence.
  20. I really don't get what you are saying there. Everyone in school feels that school is bad. It is worse for some than others admittedly, but no one was degrading anyone in my comment. I seriously do not know anyone that enjoyed their time in school regardless of the school they went to. There were highlights, but that doesn't excuse the rest of the time spent there. But that, I think, is generally due to the people. Kids are learning their personalities, testing what they can get away with around others, while the teachers are under paid and fed up of the same behaviour each and every day/year.
  21. I don't know what 8th grade is, but school always sucks. Welcome in to the community, I think most of us understand where you are coming from on this. Don't worry, just get posting on here and let your troubles disappear for some time. The Kraken eats problems (and apparently Kerbals, and space ships, and moons, and light and anything that comes to within the part limit )
  22. I do believe there would be waves, yes. The rotation of the planet would cause the atmosphere to rotate with it, which would push the surface of the liquid, as what happens here on Earth. Unless the liquid is very dense??? Most places can't have sound though as there isn't an atmosphere, or a transmission medium for sound on places like the Mun et al. though you would get vibrations through the surface that you would hear if a large rock were to fall, but then what disturbed the rock???? In space no can hear the Kraken!!!
  23. Well the sounds are not really the strong point at the moment. Though I understand it may be on their hit list of things to upgrade. So here's hoping!
  24. It is still worth looking at videos, especially by Scott Manley. You will find out just a bit more how far down the rabbit hole goes!
  25. It is strange when it inexplicably cuts off mid warble and all you get is silence until you access another building. Jeb must be out hunting!
