  1. Yeah I played it during the weekend. Its an awesome game, the level of realism is amazing. Sadly I suck at it... either because I'm not good at this kind of shooters or because I'm stressed due to all the exams and tests. If I would be better at it, I'd definitely buy it!

Ladies and gentlekerbs, may I present to you... the SpacePork One.

Now seriously, compared to the other amazing stations in this thread this 200 part station is nothing. Its my newest (the first module at the far left is 3 or 4 years old) LKO station, which I currently use as port to top off the supplies and transfer crew into my Mun/Minmus transfer ship at the back. It has enough greenhouses to support 6 Kerbals on orbit as long as there's enough fertilizer.

The station grew organically, I sent the first two modules up for station contracts. Then I decided to establish a LKO - Mun/Minmus mining rigs ferry for up to 5 Kerbals so I can do tourist contracts easier and generally save some cash on crewed Mun/Minmus missions. That's when I added the ship at the back. Later I realized that I need greenhouses and supplies to feed the Kerbals for the time they're on the station, that's when I added the greenhouse truss at the front.

The spaceplane at the right is my current cheap 6 Kerbal LKO ferry. Only thing needed to say about it: it flies like a brick, but it gets the job done.

  3. Tex, I highly recommend you join the official one or at least give it a try  Currently we're only 8 sorta-active players, and we'd highly appreciate new people. I wouldn't worry about being antisocial, it is a very nice community as long as you don't cause any trouble. Though you have to download 2 mods which (Kepler and Sparky made themselves), which shouldn't be a problem as there are some instructions on our Discord.

  4. I really like making and flying Falcon 9 style 1st stage booster rockets, though its kinda hard to adjust them for specific payloads. With a normal booster you can just slap a bunch more tanks or SRBs on it, but that would throw the balance of a F9 style stage off. Also I go full Falcon 9 in that I do a boostback to the KSC and land it propulsively- on the grass or on some poor KSC building :D

    Here's a pic of my 2.5m and 3.75m boosters:

And yes, it does save some launch cost off of the payload. Its not really worth it with the light 2.5m booster, but I still do it cause its fun.

Regarding spaceships, I have yet to design a fully reusable transfer vehicle. The ships I use for my manned Duna and Eve missions are both single-use only, since they use chemical engines which means I need drop tanks to give them enough Dv. I also don't bother with designing special return capsules and landing them at the KSC like the Dragon V2 (though I might later on), I just slap on some parachutes on a 2.5m pod and land it somewhere in the ocean. I have experimented with reusable shuttles and made a rocket SSTO for tourist missions, but they don't save that much money off of launch cost, especially when using a space shuttle approach.

By the way, FMRS is a must-have for building and flying re-usable rockets. Though I'm not sure if its up to date with the newest version of KSP...

  5. This is actually a very interesting question. I would say hydrogen, its required for fueling long-range craft. Though who knows what kind of engines we'll use in the future, so its hard to say what fuel we'll use. But for constructing spaceships in space you need other materials, like aluminium (or whatever they make spaceships nowadays). There's a large amount of resources you need for space travel, so its really hard to say which one would be the most commonly mined. Definitely something used for fuel.

  6. 5/10 Partner didn't accept the excuses, but interesting read.
