For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread
Grand Ship Builder replied to Skyler4856's topic in Science & Spaceflight
If we somehow got a nearly frictionless coating in a hole where an axle is, put a wheel with holes on it, added objects in those holes that have enough weight to move the wheel down, and put it in a vacuum, could we create a perpetual motion machine? Gravity would pull the objects down, forcing the wheel to spin, and with no friction or air resistance to stop it, the wheel could spin forever, and then we could attach a generator to it, for infinite free energy. Would that work? -

Hello all! Today is a very exciting day, as I announce, KERBSPEX! This new thingie will hopefully not be a complete failure. Questions and answers: So what is KERBSPEX? KERBSPEX is a new private-government comp-allaboration (portmanteau of company and collaboration) thingie. Basically, it's a kerbalized NASA but better. What does KERBSPEX do? Make rockets, explore space, fund other things, make snacks, basically everything NASA does, but also a semi-merger of other companies. What does KERBSPEX mean, and why is it capitalized? It's sort of a combination of many space companies' names, with kerbal in it. (Companies may include, but may not be limited to: NASA, SpaceX, Arianespace, ESA, ULA, Virgin Galactic, and maybe other things.) We have no idea what it stands for, but it might stand for something. You decide. We take suggestions. Is KERBSPEX a private or government company? Sort of a mix of both. It can function on it's own, but the government and other companies can be involved. How do I say and write KERBSPEX? You can write and say it however way you want. Can my company join? Yeah, you and your company can join kerbspex, if you have good intentions and we accept. Companies/agencies/whatevers involved: The Kerbal Government The KSC Everything affiliated with the KSC Maybe you. Who's involved: Me Everyone else mentioned above. Please let this not be a failure.

I like how you used landing legs for the booster whereas you didn't for the space ship, even though it's vice versa in real life.

Maybe make the parachutes a separate part, like a thin band that can be placed inside the shroud.

I'm going to try this mod again to see what's up now.

You quoted the wrong person, I think.
-
In b4 someone straps a kerbal to the side of the open bay and closes it.

Right click on your docking port, click "Control from Here". Don't worry about aligning. Just get close enough to the docking port. Use I,J,K,L to move down, up, left, and right, H to move forward, and N to move backwards. A good tip is to switch to "Target" mode on the navball, and get your prograde vector onto the target vector. When you get close to the docking port, start aligning. Turn off RCS if it makes it too hard for you. Once you and the docking port are aligned, start moving forward towards it. Remember to keep your prograde and target vector aligned, to be moving forwards towards it.

You can change thrust limit mid-flight.
-
A solution to the "too much thrust" problem is to simply turn the thrust limit down. This gives more precise throttling because the throttle is relative to the thrust limit.
-
You need to make the booster a lot more durable!

Do any other chemicals have a triple point like water? -
KSP has been crashing a lot on me recently. Without mods, fine, but with mods, crash. This happened recently, no major changes done. A bit ago, KSP still worked with a lot of mods, but after a while, it started crashing constantly. Does anyone have any tips on trouble shooting this issue? don't talk to me if you're going to say "no logs, no support"
