  1. I’d like to weigh in on two things here: 1. All your mods are belong to Squad. While they might be individual works to you, they are dependent upon KSP to run, which makes them derivative. Squad/T2 are pretty clear about this. If you make an excel spreadsheet to calculate dV, that’s yours. If you write a cfg or dll to do it in game, it’s theirs. That’s why I laugh at all the licensing drama on here. All mod licenses are ARR Squad/T2 by default, as they fall under the KSP ARR license as derivative works. 2. The EULA is unenforceable everywhere. All you have to say is “I never saw it, prove I did”. Well, MaxPeck saw it. “Who? That’s not me. Prove it is, and that I was at the keyboard when whoever that is was logged in”. Checkmate. You can’t keep terms of a contract secret from one party, and you can’t alter the terms of the contract without consent of all parties. You cannot assume consent because I didn’t take a negative action, I have to actively give consent after notification of terms. Otherwise you could do all kinds of stuff to people through incremental changes, assuming tacit consent by no objection of the affected party. Suddenly they own title to your house and car and you’ve agreed to a garnishment of your wages because they wrote it in the EULA and you didn’t object. Can’t happen. So calm down, it’s not the Spanish Inquisition, it’s just some words on the internet that you never saw.
  2. It’s a feature, not a bug.
  3. I just wrote this into a MM patch and it’s loading now. If this works as advertised, it’s a game changer! EDIT: Results - partially works. I can pull from a container and put things on the ground, but cannot attach them. Do I need ModuleKISItemAttachTool also, maybe? And does the probe core or whatever need Repair Skill?
  4. @Angel-125 I really like the new Recycler Arm with the integrated magnet and blow torch. It's almost everything I could ever want to start pre-positioning a base. The only think that would make it perfect would be for it to have the ability to go into KIS containers and pull items, and/or the ability to attach them like the KIS wrench/screwdriver do. Any chance that's even a remote possibility? With the AI workshop now included in OSE, you'd have the ability to set up nearly automated bases and have them turnkey ready for your kerbals when they land...
  5. I’ve had pretty good success doing that, although I use Kramax instead of Mechjeb for forward flight. You can bind TCA to an action key in the editor through your aircraft’s command pod. I’ll typically have a key bound to toggle TCA and to transition engines from VTOL to flight modes. I’ll get my forward speed to about 75m/s in TCA and then level the nose, punch the transition key, activate Kramax, and we’re off to the races. Remember to give yourself plenty of time to lose forward speed before you get to your destination- TCA doesn’t like high-speed braking maneuvers. I’ll typically start slowing down about 10km from where I’m going and make the transition back to VTOL mode at about 100 m/s. Come in too fast and you’ll tumble unless you’ve spammed RCS wheels. Oh - and panthers are okay for VTOL in afterburner mode. The key to using any of those advanced engines is to turn off their gimbals. TCA and gimbals do NOT play nicely together.
  6. This is actually normal. Most jets aren’t responsive enough to use for VTOL applications, unless it’s specifically made for it. Wheesleys in particular are a terrible option, no where near responsive enough. TCA works pretty much flawlessly for me in 1.6.1. I had to do some cleanup in a few of the CFG files after rooting around in the log, but now it seems to work fine.
  7. I know I'm seriously necro-ing this, but in case anyone else experiences this, those lines are from TCA. They get drawn when the module selector is open and sometimes they don't undraw themselves.
  8. I seem to recall there being a bit of the “hard stuff” rolled into 1.6. Delta-v readout? I don’t feel like KSP is dying at all. In fact I’ve seen more progress in 1.5 and 1.6 than I have in a long time. I think we’re overdue for some DLC options, like maybe an RSS and RO option for those who want realism. But I think they’re definitely working toward a revamp of the core game, and honestly, I feel like maybe they’re testing features for a KSP 2. I’ve had periods in the past where I feared KSP was on its last legs, like with the developer exodus a few years back, but now I don’t get that sense. Maybe it’s just me.
  9. I like the design, but I’ll cast my vote with the folks who aren’t crazy about the nozzle color. Also not a fan off the rollcage attachment point, would rather have something more solid to hide the interiors of the part above it.
  10. Seems like an easy fix - make a button in KK and steal some code from hyperedit so that when you click the off world recovery it quietly teleports your vessel to KSC and then recovers it.
  11. **ADDING TO MY PREVIOUS POST*** Right now, High Point has used ZWO ASI120MC color imaging cameras on sale for $50. This is both a capable entry-level imager and an AutoGuider. So for $100 you could get a dedicated astronomy camera and an AutoGuider, which would save you a pretty good chunk of change on two of the most expensive items you'll want later.. (edit: it won't do both at the same time, you'll need a separate camera for each task, so you'd need two if you want to do auto guiding and imaging). I just picked one up and with express shipping it ran me all of $80. I've been wanting to do DSLR wide field side-by-side with my primary imager, and now here's my chance. Check it out here: https://www.highpointscientific.com/telescope-accessories/astro-photography/ccd-cameras/zwo-asi120mc-color-1-2-mega-pixel-astronomy-camera-asi120mc-used-0000
  12. There are other options. Ioptron sells mounts that are very capable and not too expensive. You can get a SmartEQ Pro for around $500, which is a reasonably good starter equatorial mount that accepts ASCOM control. You get get a reasonable telescope from high point scientific or Orion, or you can get a used one off of eBay. Then you’ll need a camera. Again, here eBay is your friend. I’m a big fan of dslr photography, and you should be able to get a used one for not outrageous money. You’ll want to get one that has a “bulb” setting and is remote-capable. This will allow you to control the shutter manually. Before I got my current camera, I took long exposure shots with my Nikon using an IR remote and a stopwatch. If budget is an issue, look for places that sell “factory seconds”. I know Orion does, and sometimes Astronomics does as well. Factory seconds are products with cosmetic flaws or damage that still work to manufacturers specs... who cares if your scope body is scratched or your camera has some blemishes on the case, you’re gonna use the stuff in the dark anyway. Don’t let the price tag deter you. Once you have your basic rig in place, upgrade incrementally. Once you have scope and camera in play, start saving up to get an autoguider (which you’ll definitely want). In the meantime, use your starter setup to get good at polar alignment and taking 1-2 minute exposures. Heres some links to get you started: High Point Scientific: www.highpointscientific.com sells gear at a reasonable price, has a lot of sales. Astronomics: www.astronomics.com These are the guys who own Cloudy Nights. They do a lot of private e-mail only sales. Sign up for an account on CN and you can get a discount on most purchases. Orion: www.telescope.com The go-to place for Astro gear. This place is the Walmart of astronomy. Some good deals, especially on scopes. More importantly, they have permanent areas on their website for sales, clearances and factory seconds. IOptron www.ioptron.com Maker of telescope mounts. Celestron snobs will scoff at ioptron mount owners. Let em. Ioptron sells very capable mounts that are very affordable and easy to use. They are my favorite mount maker, and I’ve got both a SmartEQ Pro and a CEM25 and I love them both. The other two things you’ll need are patience and persistence. This is a hobby with a steep learning curve and it’ll take practice. I’ve been doing it for a couple of years and I’m to the point that if I can get set up, aligned and running in under an hour I’m happy, a half hour is a stone cold miracle. There have been plenty of nights when I’ve spent an hour trying to do polar alignment and I just can’t get life to cooperate and I’m ready to throw my whole rig in the nearest river. You have to recognize this isn’t something you go spend a bunch of money on and then turn out Hubble quality images on your first session. It’s a lot to learn... and the mojoroty of your time will be spent sitting at a computer dragging slider bars trying to make what looks like a foggy night in London look like the cosmos. Good luck!
  13. Perfect. Thank you @Gaarst!
  14. Is there a mod that anyone knows of that adds a scratchpad-type thing to the game? It would be great if we had something that was callable from the toolbar to write notes to ourselves or such. I find that with too many missions going at once, I start losing track of what I was doing in a particular mission once KAC reminds me to go back to it. If such a thing doesn't exist, any modders willing to take a swing at it?
  15. This doesn't sound like good advice to me. Many of the mirrors used in decent telescopes and astrographs have reflective coatings on then which are easy to damage. Everything I've ever read said to wear gloves when handling the primary, and to use the gentlest of gentleness when cleaning it. It's such a touchy process that I've known astronomers who won't do it, and instead send their mirrors off to be professionally cleaned. Honestly, between that and collimation, I gave up using a reflecting telescopes and went back to refractors.
  16. I have a smarteq pro. It’s a really underappreciated little mount. Still, that’s a lot of scope for it to push around!
  17. Yeah. Look in the changelog on spacedock, I think they have versions going back to 1.2
  18. I think Kramax Autopilot is what you actually want here. It has the ability to create approaches (via a text file) and has an integrated HUD ILS that's not too bad. You can switch it to NAV mode and leave the autopilot functions off and fly the approach by hand, or if like me you're tired of doing that, you can get lazy and let Jeb earn his pay once in a while. One thing I like about Kramax is that you can work on the approaches without having to reload KSP - you can reload the waypoints database from inside the flight scene, one could say editing *on the fly*. (Thank you, I'll be here all week. Be sure to tip your waitress!) KRAMAX also lets you designate what kind of waypoint you're working with (IAF, FAF etc), and opens up the possibility of creating navaids and high altitude routes. Note: I am not a paid spokesman for Kramax autopilot. I just prefer it for aircraft flying.
  19. I’ll check it and respond in a little bit. Been tied up with finals and commencement prep.
