Reddit literally tears into this game and the developers, I think they're a bit extreme if I'm honest mind.

Well that's obvious. But they glorify some things extremely, and on the contrary, they extremely spit on others. For some reason, the story with KSP1 is diametrically opposite to KSP2.

  2. I wonder why the community became pessimistic? Why on Reddit posts about KSP1 are full of enthusiasm and fun, but any mention of KSP2 leads to a storm of indignation? After all, this is the same community! If anyone can solve this riddle, they could claim a Nobel Prize in Psychology! It's a shame this prize hasn't been invented yet

I'm guessing that's due to the lack of boulders or any other features then craters. Along with its very spheroid shape.

It looks more like a satellite, and not the smallest one, than an asteroid. It is impossible to move such an object using conventional engines. I think this is some kind of early concept on which the developers worked on procedurally generated craters. Such objects are easily made in KSP1 using the Kopernicus mod. I wouldn’t be very surprised if this picture createded in that same KSP2 from 2019. The picture was shown to us in those days when there was no KSP2 gameplay, this is a clipping from some editor.  In reality, even the largest asteroids look like this in our Universe.

Dakota mentioned over a month ago about some 'exciting new stuff' in 0.1.5 but then has been essentially radio silent about it ever since

It seems the developers have moved from the “show and tell” stage, first to the “tell” stage, then to the “evasively tell” stage, and now “pretend that you are an AAA developer and only communicate with journalists (who really don’t remember about KSP2)”

    everything is a lie

Who's lying? The developers never talked about asteroids in the game. But some people spread misinformation that in fact everything is out there somewhere, knowing this better than community managers.

At this rate we should be back to "they don't communicate enough" before midnight GMT.

What is typical is that community managers read this thread but did not actually answer the question asked.

    You're literally wrong.

Well, if you consider the asteroids in the CGI trailer to be part of the game, then of course they started. :joy:

But considering that Nate announced and posted a video about the fact that plasma in the editor is painted in different colors on different planets, and there was nothing about asteroids, I will use a scientific approach and assume that the invisible Russell teapot does not exist in space until someone won't show it to me.

However, I do feel you that they need to add reentry fast. FAST! We want features!

This is not a full-fledged feature, it is a realistic limitation in the game that will require better mission planning. Well, there are a lot of bugs associated with this. It’s like if you add the need to eat and sleep into cyberpunk - there will be new animations, but it’s hard to call it interesting content, just boring planning. Bringing asteroids back into the game would be a full-fledged feature, since you can do a lot of new things with asteroids. But it seems they haven’t even started doing this.

It's cuz the people who are playing are busy playing instead of repeating the same arguments over and over knowing the other side won't listen anyway.

Looks like you're not one of them

As a matter of fact, what is in there is so basic and completely useless that modders have to do stuff themselves:

But where are the colonies, other planets, science and thermal effects? Why don't modders want to help developers find bugs and hype?

On the subject of updates: our update cadence is going to slow down a little bit. There are a couple of reasons for this, not least of which is that every time we release an update, we divert resources that would otherwise be focused on continuing to improve the game. We are always balancing our desire to improve the current Early Access experience against long-term goals that involve more time investment. This is a very personal issue for me, because as a fan I want the game to be perfect and awesome right now! But since genies don’t actually exist, that’s not how we’ll arrive at the best version of KSP2. We will continue to release updates prior to our big Science Feature update, and hopefully a slower update cadence will mean that when they do go out, they contain more robust improvements. We are still working out what that exact cadence looks like, and I’ll update you here when I know more.

After many months, one can only guess in which direction the focus of the game's development was shifted. What would happen if the focus remained the same? Can not understand anything

  11. Maybe since all this is in the game, then one of the modders will turn it back on? At least let's see how it works, albeit with bugs. Maybe they'll fix it at the same time. Once upon a time there was a mod for early versions of KSP1 that introduced a bunch of fixes to the game.

But as you can see on this forum, and on Reddit, that's not what they do. it's not their job, and they would rather complain.

This is a flaw of the community managers and T2 lawyers, they should have written to the EULA that the user who bought the game is obliged to test all new patches and not complain on the Internet

    28 minutes ago, gluckez said:

Plus, if you introduce a new feature that just blatantly breaks the game, you'll need to be extremely quick to patch it, even though the exact issue isn't known and could require an overhaul of one or more systems. for example: what if they introduce orbital assembly now, and it somehow breaks the VAB? players won't even be able to get into orbit to test the feature and no one will be able to play the game.

Users must be patient and wait for the patch, and still look forward to a bright future

    29 minutes ago, gluckez said:

Also, EA is not to test new features, from the steamworks documentation

Nobody cares what is written in these rules, these are simply non-binding recommendations.

  13. 5 minutes ago, gluckez said:

The features that are on the roadmap, are also in the game, but just disabled. If you go through the code you'll find systems for multiplayer, science, colonies, different kinds of kerbals, orbital assembly buildings, etc...

In this case, we can assume that the 1.0 release has already taken place, the roadmap has been completed, and the price of the game can be safely increased! :joy:

  14. 12 minutes ago, gluckez said:

It actually is fully featured, there's just a lot of features that are currently disabled because they're working the bugs out of the base game.

I wonder if there have been more of these disabled features since April, when Nate said that patches would be released less frequently? If you re-read his message carefully, it’s difficult to understand something, of course, but it seems they were going to focus on features.

Your own post has a list of almost 20 features in pre-1.0 KSP1 that are missing from KSP2, number of them significant game features like resources, asteroids, funds, missions, kerbal experience and heating and yet you claim KSP2 has the same features?

    you-just-gotta-6f3601a5da.jpg

...and you will see these features!

In fact, most of the positive reviews of KSP2 (almost half of all reviews) are written for an imaginary game where all promised features will be, and in memory of how fun it was to play KSP1.

So we've seen human beings make mistakes. I wish I could go through life without it too but sadly it happens. Far, far too often.

This is similar to the phrase “KSP2 is not perfect” that is often mentioned here. The number of people who make mistakes is enormous, including both geniuses and mediocrities. Just like the number of non-perfect games completely covers all games, from hl2 to E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Vague as IG CM posts

  17. 16 minutes ago, regex said:

Hopefully. I'd hate to see them rush it and end up with the utter mess that KSP1 was.

And now the creators of KSP2 haven’t made the same mistakes that was made in KSP1? As I noticed, we managed to see something that was not in KSP1 - broken anti-aliasing, spam to the registry, calculation of all parts in the universe. Without any rush

It's possible that the publisher did indeed feel that the studio was spinning their wheels and needed a hard deadline to focus their minds. If so then that was clearly a bad call, or rather they should have paid proper attention to managing expectations.

Hard deadline? The deadline was very flexible, it moved from spring 2020 to February 2023. Just like the rockets in KSP2! :joy:

Cuz I just checked steamdb, and the current player count of KSP1 is 1230, and the 25 hour peak is 1723.  Taking a look at the chart, yes, player count is about half now than it was when KSP2 dropped.  But, a lot of people don't use the launcher.  And some of us - myself included - have the game on Epic (and even then I don’t use the launcher).  So...:/?

I'm sure that the share of people ignoring the launcher has not changed since the release of KSP2. Steam's statistics are quite representative.

I don’t think it’s the silence, in fact I don’t think there is any silence, I think they’re communicating quite a lot really. I think it’s simply that progress has been slower than expected.

Typically, early access games have a high level of communication. In the end, two community managers were hired for this. But perhaps they really have nothing to tell in terms of development progress
