KSP2 is in the top list of 2023 games!
It seems this year has turned out so-so
-
On the other hand, changes in Unity policy are an excellent reason to announce another delay
-
If they decide to change the engine then we'll end up with a game by 2033 at best...

Oh how typical. 90% of the players struggles to land on the Mun even when it's this tiny
That 2% of mad people: MAKE IT EVEN HARDER
The small size of planets is compensated by the low efficiency of kerbal's rockets. Empty tanks are too heavy; with such rockets we would not even reach orbit.

Or the gravity constant of the Kerbal universe is just different than ours?
No, the laws of physics are the same. The planets are just incredibly dense

Can you imagine bad progress? They could release bugpacks and fps-reducers! With delays...

Oh, these fantasies!
Just now, Rothryn said:Given that that happend in mid 2021, Intercept's official development time on the game has been more around 2 years at this point and it looks like they've done a good job so far.
What happened in 2021? Did the server with all the data burn down? Why not come up with something for December 2022 and say that the game is being made at an incredible pace?

The scope and dev team of KSP2 is a LOT bigger
Rather, fan fantasies are bigger, but since the fall of 2022 they have seriously decreased.
4 hours ago, Rothryn said:Also, recent update communications and vidoes about future features have been fantastic.
Do you mean plasma effects? They were shown to us only in the editor. We haven't seen anything gameplay for a long time.
4 hours ago, Rothryn said:why not take your time and make sure stuff you put out there works?
Since 2019, every message about the transfer of the game was accompanied by many comments “take your time,” but it seems that the developers need 10 years, because in 6 years they have only made what we have now.
P.S. - I hope no one will argue again that the development of KSP2 began in 2017? One year later than Starfield and Atomic Heart?
-
It’s just that only hardcore players play KSP2, while casual players have been playing something else for a long time. And the hardcore fans were waiting for something more than KSP1 from 2019, and especially not the 0.18 remaster...

And I think bugs are easy to forget if you’re having fun!
I have a fairly low tolerance for bugs and I easily drop the game if something goes wrong. If everything was like yours, I wouldn’t even be aware of KSP2 now

I think we must have had different play styles because my experience wasn’t the same
I actually have the feeling that you are talking about another game. Perhaps you received KSP2 from the future?

I’m not sure it was 1.0 though, it might have been a later version, but at one point I got into base-building and it was almost impossible on Duna because performance dropped like a stone if I had more than 1 or 2 landed craft. I also lost lots of craft to the kraken and hit a whole bunch of game-breaking bugs too.
This is absolutely impossible! The most unoptimized version 1.0.5 showed “yellow” FPS only after 200 parts. Kraken attacks disappeared somewhere around 0.18. I started a new career in 1.0.0 without any problems and spammed the entire system with crafts, my 970 did not feel overvolted at all. And then I started my career in “New Horizons” and also did not encounter any serious bugs.

Memory is tricky! It’s impossible to say for certain without a side by side comparison, but I would put 0.1.3 about on par with 1.0 or whatever version I started with. Some things in 0.1.3 are much better (consistency of performance, aerodynamic flight, construction) and others are as bad or worse (decaying orbits, flakiness with orbit lines, wobbly rockets).
I thought you were talking about some very early versions of KSP1! It seems your memory is failing you. In KSP 1.0 there was excellent performance on the built-in video card, there were practically no krakens and game-breaking bugs were quite rare.
2 hours ago, Periple said:aerodynamic flight
It seems that the aerodynamics in KSP2 were done in such a way that even a brick will fly like a falcon if you attach an engine to it

More minor bug fixes?
A few small bugfixes, replacing the Kraken with Azathoth and instead of degrading the orbit there will be an increase on the contrary!
-
They'll probably add those grid fins

Interestingly, three videos were announced within weeks on August 12th. One video came out. Where were the others lost? Or "weeks" maybe 10-15 weeks?

Wow, for the first time my questions were noticed and answered!

Just like Todd said. They don't need to optimize, you people just need better pcs
It is always possible to complete the game on a weak computer. On YouTube or Twitch.
-
I don't understand, did I start this thread? Is this some kind of joke? Or am I having memory lapses?
-
It seems that Mr. "buy another one skyrim" took away a large part of the already small audience of KSP2 ...

The closest I can think of is them saying that they want community feedback on things they’re developing. That’s not QA at all! It’s not even playtesting!
And in my opinion it's about the same. It is clear that none of us is obliged to report all the bugs found, we did not sign any contracts, we are not paid, but the meaning is about the same.

How would you ban it? I mean, Steam could if they wanted to, but how would you stop studios releasing games early from their own storefronts if they wanted to?
I would put in a ban through the UN, but unfortunately they are more likely to ban those who are against early access. Gabe doesn't really care what games and where to sell them.
1 hour ago, Periple said:Also, EA is no use for testing a game.
Although it was under this sauce that we were offered early access to KSP2 - to help in testing with the game, and not to help the studio return part of the costs that T2 spent
-
I think early access from wealthy publishers should be banned. Indie studios can't afford to spend years developing games without a profit, and for them early access is often the only way out. And publishers like T2 are obviously abusing early access.

And frankly, the peanut gallery is not who the devs should be looking to for release timing advice . The longer science goes undelivered, the saltier we get (justifiably). The longer core bugs remain unfixed, the saltier we get (justifiably). If they're already disappointing all of us, its probably preferable in the grand scale of things to make some of us happy with a science launch, even if it makes a bunch of us madder at a perceived misallocation of resources - Its not like the steam reviews from us can get much worse, Gabe hasn't implemented a "Two Thumbs Down" option yet.
Man, I don't know anything you just said to me, but you reached out, you touch it by the heart...
Unity went crazy, what will happen to KSP2 (and KSP1)?

What if someone starts reinstalling games a hundred times a day to spite the developers? What if the Unity creators paid him a share of that money? So much room for corruption...
