Hey guys, I've been thinking of a good challenge to do lately, and watching all of those EJ streams making Kerbin bases gave me the idea for a Kerbin Polar Base challenge! The challenge is pretty simple, build and sustain a base at one of the poles. However, the pieces can not be launched on a sub-orbital trajectory to get there fast. They have to be brought in by planes or ships. Also, crew rotation. No keeping kerbals at sub-zero temperatures for decades at a time. Here's the scoreboard: Base itself: +10 points for each module of base +20 for having a fuel depot +25 for having an ISRU module -30 for using giant rockets to boost you modules there quickly Transfer craft: +15 for using ships instead of planes +10 for using skids on landing instead of wheels +20 for VTOL +5 for horizontal landing Extras: +30 for building a working launchpad at your base, and launch at least one satellite with a rocket launched there rocket +10 for each additional launch -10 for each mod used (kerbal engineer allowed, no mechjeb)

Hey guys. I'm very interested in this mod your making. Hows about I let you guys make the RSS version of my CZ-9 and I keep the stock solar system version in my mod? I hink it sounds like a pretty good idea. P.S. I'm working on a Chinese Launch site for another mod, I might hand that over to you guys as well.

If anyone has a good name for the UR-900 thing, shoot. Here's the plan for the mod: Hurricane (EELV thing) Releases, followed by Volcano (Vulkan), followed by UR-900, followed by King Cobra (Jupiter III). Hurricane should release by the New Year at the latest, with 3-4 week intervals between releases. -

Not yet, I'm waiting for Kart's Delta IV to release on his thread, and then I'm working with him to modify that into Delta IX. I think he said 2 weeks on Delta IV? After that, I'd give it another 2 weeks. Note: dates not final -
I posted this on the apollo challenge thread. Basically my new expiremental Saturn V was launching, and, well, I forgot struts. The entire second stage and up was wobbling around on a 0.625m decoupled while a huge 3.75m first stage was pusing it upwards at over 2.5gs - - - Updated - - - It immediately smashed into the ground, causing the biggest explosion I've ever seen in KSP. And somehow the LES survived...

Another quick update: 2nd stage is almost done as far as modeling goes. It's Vulcan Based, but has a single BE-4 instead of 2 to make it more efficient in a vaccum -
