  1. I noticed that my spaceplane was pulling to the left. I checked RCS build aid, and it indicates a 6 kNm torque to the left. Ive double and triple checked, this plane is 100% symmetric. Trying to group-source troubleshooting here.... I've made a lot of spaceplanes before, never encountered this issue.
  2. Somewhere around 85-90 of that was because I mucked up the Jool rendesvous, had to wait for many decades =0 I wasn't able to get my apoapsis high enough from the 2nd kerbin fly by like I should of, and improvising the duna fly only got me an intersection. P.S. You and nefrums in particular inspired this mission. =0
  3. The video is finished! The mission fared better than anticipated, and I was able to land on Pol, Bop, Laythe, and Minmus before returning to Kerbin. A very challenging and rewarding mission, I got a lot of practice at gravity assists. 4. Taking a break from my make-it-work-whatever-it-looks-like approach to make a mission focused on looking swag! Not going to submit officially yet, since I am working on a video for my youtube channel showing the mission. Here is the landing on laythe! 5. Working on a video for my extra large fuel tanker spaceplane, fondly dubbed the Huacaya 225. I am using it to haul liquid fuel and oxidizer to my refueling stations in orbit. (station seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCSrdbaCROs) It may make more sense to just use my mine on minmus, but I have special love for SSTOs. Take off, landing, and flight is deceptively easy, and it proved much more durable than I anticipated. I am getting some strange stability issues I still need to troubleshoot, such as unwanted rolling, but it is easily correctable. Launch Weight: 511.5 tons Fuel Supplied to Station: @225 tons Docked in orbit, landed on runway.
  6. Anyone who has experience with very low TWR transfers - What is the lowest you can practically go? Is .1 about it or could you make lower work?
  7. Just got done fine tuning a asymmetric lander to have 0.0 degree thrust offset, only to realize my docking port was slightly offset. Is there a tool to easily center these things in the builder? Kerbal engineer showing it in flight in nice but its becoming a real hassle. To be clear, I'm looking for something that will allow me to get thrust exactly centered, in the VAB.
  8. 8 RAPIER, 1 LVN. I tried swapping in 2 whiplash and the performance took a surprisingly dramatic dive, I believe due to added drag.
  9. Not really a submission... but relevant? Merely putting this here because this is the place where people are discussing interesting ideas for efficient SSTOs! This design is intended to be practical, and not an all out fractional payload champ, and as a result sports 2 Mk3 CRG-100 cargo bays, batteries/TRG/easy flight and landing characteristics. I'm very pleased with the early results. 35.35t dry, 95.28t wet, 167.28t with 72t payload. Considering just the cargo bays alone add 12 tons of essentially dead weight, i'm going to see what improvements better design and flight profile planning can make! Thank you to Val on inspiration for a RAPIER/LVN combo.
  10. I'll check when i'm home, but I am confident it took more than 10 years.
  11. Sadly it was not a fresh campaign, and I was too lazy to do all the potential biomes on the landings as a result. Could of been much much higher =( https://i.gyazo.com/d861a08a1285c5a75a3e958d6e90ada7.png 43382 counting the subtracted points from the admin building. Note on the screenshot that many of those data retrievals had already been done =0 P.S. There is extra points for being an SSTO yes?
  12. No fuel was used from the payload, and I actually had 15 tons of extra fuel left in the spaceplane itself (althought I did use some of that when i had to do a go around to land on the runway ) It can haul a 100 ton payload to LKO, using only its own fuel and without detaching anything but the payload. I use this thing for everything I can. I made this before I even looked at these forums, but it does match all the rules.
  13. To be frank, I think the rules for this particular challenge are silly and limiting in needless ways. That being said, this is not a challenge submission, but you might be interested in my minimalist eve mission. The goal was to do a manned mission to eve, with a rover, while being very cost efficient. I used two launches from Kerbin, a conventional rocket SSTO and a Spaceplane SSTO. Video playlist:
  14. I'm fairly proud of my cargo SSTO spaceplane, which can take up to 100 tons of cargo to LKO. It can be seen used in part 2 of my manned Eve mission series, deploying the Kerbin-Eve round trip space tug, and then landed in part 5 Part 2: Take off and orbit Part 5: Landing (On runway)
  15. Landed a manned science rover on every moon and planet in one launch. Could in theory take the rover to each biome, I didn't bother since I wasn't playing a fresh campaign, and it would take quite a long time.
  16. Stock Grand Tour Complete! Landed on all bodies in the game that one can land on (including Eve!). Deployed a manned science Rover on each landing. Mission was achieved with a single 600 ton launch. No staging was used outside of the Eve Lander, and all parts were returned to the surface of Kerbin with the exception of the Eve lander. ISRU was used to refuel along the way. Only mods used were tools. Kerbal Engineer, Better Time Warp, Transfer Window Planner. Hyperedit and the stock debug panel were, of course, not used during the mission Turned out I had significantly more extra Delta V than I anticipated. I plan on making an updated version at some point with some fun optionals added. If anyone is interested in the .craft file let me know. Time Lapse: Much shorter edit with music: https://youtu.be/jpn4IKX7IyY - Which game versions did you use? 1.04 - What mods did you use, if any? Better Time Warp, Kerbal Engineer, Transfer Window Planner - How many Kerbals are on the mission? 2 - How many launches was needed to start your mission from Kerbal? 1 - How much did your mission cost? 496381 Launch Cost. Of this, 133769 goes towards the eve lander, the only part not returned to Kerbin. - Did you needed a refueling mission? Only ISRU - Did you bring a Living Quarter (Hitch-hiker's Storage or Passenger Cabins) for the guys during the long journey? No, but with the large excess of delta V I had, this could be done in a future mission - Did you bring additional stuff like satellites, rovers, etc? Fully equipped science rover landed on each planet and moon - Share the delta-V information too, if you tracked it! The tightest part was making it from Kerbin to Minmus with the Eve Lander still attached. There was still plenty of Delta V extra, some more optionals could certainly be packed on, one could also reduce the liquid fuel packed during launch, as the nuclear engines are not burned that long. - Any additional note or description? With the detachable, redockable rover, One could collect science data from every biome in the game with this build. I was not playing from a fresh campaign so I only did a token Rover expedition on each planet and moon. I wanted to Report the salvage value, but couldn't make sense of it. Here is the screenshot for someone who understands the calculation: https://gyazo.com/5390330a811ff94e84c83f610266c94a One could remove the eve lander and put all sorts of payload on the top. Passenger Cabins, Satellites, Swimming Pools Etc. Kerbal Engineer reports 6821 delta v. Actual results may vary. Uses both Nuclear and Conventional rocket engines, can use ISRU to refine ore mid flight.
  17. I am experiencing this issue, also when using the duna mission design from Mr. Manley. A restart did not fix the issue, I am using a SLI configuration on my GPUs. Anything I can do to help you diagnose this?
