  1. you can do a lot with lighting even without raytracing.
  2. Market to all ages, you mean? Push young people to have interest in space science? New generation of astronauts, perhaps? Just like KSP1 did, though on much smaller scale, for obvious reasons? *Throwback to that video where Nate was playing KSP with his son*
  3. I was merely pointing out that you don't need a huge ship to go for your first interplanetary mission (and new player probably wouldn't build a WH40k flying cathedral anyway). So performance isn't the reason people stay in the Kerbin system. The learning process, or rather lack thereof, is. KSP2 seems to solve both learning (tutorials) and performance (the intent to construct colonies and interstellar vessels) issues so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  4. Explosions are no different than fireworks any kid could see outside the window. And cartoon violence is Kerbals going poof, or whatever they do this time (I doubt they're going to die in any way that's more graphic than going splat and turning into a green puddle with eyes). So that's still E.
  5. For Duna-and-back all you need is a 2.5m lander with Wolfhound at the bottom (or Poodle, don't remember the stats on the surface), about 2k dV, so Rockomax X200-16 or -32 is enough, docked to another 2.5m nuclear ship, with Jumbo tank. Launch separately, dock in LKO. So really the tricky parts are launching the big tank (nothing that can't be solved with 3.75 or 5m parts to keep the count low), and two dockings, one here, the other at Duna. Full craft that is then en route to Duna will have much less than 100 parts. Other interplanetary missions can be solved by sending everything separately and meeting at destination. That's how I did my Moho mission, and returned using a small nuclear return vehicle. Problems with the game really start to uncover if you decide to go full Kerbal like SZ with his invictus.
  6. Not really. Unless you aim for return from Eve in the same ship that gets there.
  7. https://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings-process/ here's some first hand insight on the process
  8. Modifications can't affect game rating, otherwise every single moddable game with humanoid characters would have Mature/18 rating thanks to nude mods lol. Same as multiplayer experience. Can't really rate what other people will do, especially when there's chat involved.
  9. Same as the original. No surprise here. Nothing in the game that would make it higher. Move along.
  10. Haarlemmermeer Gods the Dutch and their names Also, I may have a place to visit once I'm finally in the Netherlands. That Space Expo looks super cool.
  11. Contracts are randomly generated so it's hard to tell what the requirements are if we can't see it. But they all should be visible to you, the place, the altitude etc. Or you can post a screenshot with the contract open. Maybe you were too high or too low.
  12. Trouble is, even if you can get a pc with specs roughly equal to what consoles offer, pc games are often way more demanding than what is offered on consoles. Not saying this will be the case here but the truth is, many demanding games that ran smoothly on ps4 would have problems running on a pc with similar hardware. Same applies to current gen.
  13. Well, yes, but maybe it uses Trajectories view by default, if you get what I mean. Then maybe it shows when you target something on the surface, there's a lot of maybes until we see it or not.
  14. It's strangely fitting considering when KSP1 was available
  15. I highly doubt the transparent windows have any effect on performance. It's not 2011 anymore.
  16. Real life patches, probably for ESA missions of something. How do I know that? If you look closely at the blurry white things, you can read Mars, Asteroids (I think), Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
  17. You could get a bit of guest list just by looking at pictures. Me, not knowing anything about KSP youtubers/streamers, recognize only Scott Manley. Also, I didn't know ESA has RGB powered pcs for mission control, guess LEDs give more delta v.
  18. That Fandom wiki... If you look deep enough is just a heap of garbage. Extremely inconsistent, tons of wrong or useless pages, or just simply spam. Doesn't look it's moderated in any way.
  19. HarvesteR left the team long before the franchise went under T2, and the sequel development started later (not much later though) Even then, Nate Simpson seems to also have clear vision for the game.
  20. Correct. Not when they expect us to build early colonies by landing the modules next to each other. Unless they come up with some clever workarounds.
  21. That applies to everywhere. But without mods it's hard to predict how much you have to overshoot when you set up reentry. With unpowered landings I very often just see KSC below as I pass it by, far from landing and end up many kilometers to the east.
