  1. Are all upper stage solid rockets in the staging list just sepatrons?
  2. I think you'll get the same Isp at partial power, just (even) lower thrust.
  3. I find it easy to burn my way up to a higher orbit where my orbital period is longer. When you get to a spot where 20 minutes isn't a significant arc of the orbit anymore, the burn works normally. You lose some dV this way, but I've been OK with it.
  4. These are beautiful works of engineering! What is the flight plan, TWR (vac) and DV (vac) of the stages?
  5. I still hit the Z key before launch out of habit.

  6. I'd love to get pics or craft files of lifters that are < 900 per ton.
  7. All my figures assume vacuum thrust and Isp.
  8. I also use the next biggest lifter. My lifters are about 5 tons apart in the 15-65 ton range.
  9. I spend a lot of time docking.

  10. I love the pic where it looks like two planes are carrying a BOMB into space.
  11. How would you use that? Wouldn't that just be whatever is dead ahead when looking prograde?
  12. How many times must each scientific device be used to collect all the science? I've looked all over the wiki, and could not find it. Namely: Mystery Goo (5?), Gravioli (4?), Seismic (4?), Science Jr. (3?), Soil Sample, and Atmospheric Fluid Spectrometer. (Not looking to mod this effect away, just wondered what the stock counts were)
  13. Strangely, I find it very enjoyable driving around Mun to look for great landing sites.

  14. What cost/ton are you experiencing with your present designs?
  15. Anyone transporting wide loads (>2.5m) via stock spaceplanes to orbit? How are you doing that?
  16. You might be able to use any kind of docking port to connect the stages reusably (not just klaw), but how do you land the first stage and ensure that the second stage continues to orbit with the way the physics bubble works in stock?
  17. I have a number of subassemblies rated to deliver payload of different masses to Kerbin orbit. That way, I just design a payload, pick the launch vehicle, and I'm done. I am using 3500 dV and 1.2 TWR as my standard benchmarks. If you are doing this, what specifications are you choosing? Why?
  18. Here's my idea: Build a huge wheel-like structure with a ton of reaction wheels. Connect a spacecraft at the edge of the wheel. Start spinning the wheel as fast as you can. Undock the spacecraft. Off it goes into the unknown. How much dV could you get?
  19. I don't want to use the new parts, because I have ships and probes in flight with stock parts. Will it still work?
  20. On a travel budget of 10k dV, what's the fastest way (least amount of flight time once launch begins) to Jool? Two ways I can think of: Go straight to Jool (possibly with boost from Duna). Go to Eve for a gravity assist to Jool.
  21. If you look at this thrust versus Isp curve, I think it gives clues where composite engine combinations could be useful. I have found a single poodle in concert with many NERVs to be a valuable combo. Also, anywhere where you can't get a fraction of an engine, multiples are useful (e.g. 3x vector, since you can't have 0.75 mammoths).
  22. I'd like to add the ScanSat mod to my existing game, but I don't want to mess it up. Is that possible? How do I do that?
  23. I'd love to see rovers that people have built that can be transported by 2.5m service bays.
