  1. Why would you even want another planet pack? The only thing I want is some way to make spaceplanes in 10.6257x without cheating or making something which weighs 1000 tons.
  2. Does it have to be exactly 40? I had 56 with pressurization and all the comfort equipment and only got about 3.5 years ( probably 20 in stock scale, this was 10.6257x)
  3. Its from Strategia - it gives you a bonus to probe science transmissions, among other things.
  4. Pro: Nero in under 4 years! Con: 11+ km/s braking burn! Pro: Nero's Badass Precession Con: Abysmal Data Rate Pro: PROBE FRENZY! Con: Jebediah feels left out... Thank the Kraken for the NFP ion engines - I was NOT going to try any kind of normal transfer orbit and have my probe turn into a worthless hunk of metal before it even makes it close enough to spot Hadrian. Wherner wants to be alive when the probe gets there, thank you very much!
  5. Do any of the larger mod antennas work with Kerbalism? I need something good for at least 5.5 Tm - the largest I have right now is 3.2 Tm.
  6. Is there a way to get the stress value up to "perpetual?" I can't seem to get it higher than 3 or 4 years - not enough time to get to Gauss or Nero in 10.6257x GPP. Should I just manually scale the values?
  7. The integrated vector sum of Kerbin's gravity will result in you losing most of your horizontal velocity as you coast to Apoapsis. You will be in an elliptical orbit the whole way up, with the perapsis at a value close to what it would be if Kerbin was a point mass and you just started on the pad with 174 m/s of horizontal velocity.
  8. The main issue I have with rescaled systems is the extreme terrain distortion. You either have mountains reaching into the Ozone layer or a shield volcano next to the KSC. I am not sure what can be done from that end - KSP planet features have always been outsized relative to the body scale (especially depth wise) so a lot of visual appeal would be lost in stock scale if a terrain config was modified to suit 10x. Is there some sort of PQS algorithm that could take stock scale features and clone them/surround them with similar terrain in order to meet the area requirements of the upscaled system? Turn the mountain into a mountain range, for example.
  9. With NFP it is not that hard - using SMURFF and 10x I made a ship with 100 km/s of delta-V. That is enough to do that rescue in 10x AFAIK. The key is ion spam (lol). Without ions it is insanity - or dare I say "Kerbal."
  10. The most important thing SpaceX is doing is pioneering the stage recovery technology. If we want to put anything substantial into space, we need reusable boosters. Otherwise, the expense becomes prohibitive, especially considering supplies and transport for manned stations. Things get even worse if we are in Cislunar or near-Earth space - that extra 3.5 km/s severely increases the mass of a launcher departing from Earth. SpaceX's rocket landing method is the best we are going to get - we will probably be able to make rockets in space (robotic factories producing fuel, etc) before we have fully reusable, economic space-planes which can carry significant payload. The math just doesn't work without significantly better engines than we can manage with current technology.
  11. Who wants to bet that at some point Chibi will be possessed by the Kraken lord? I give that 5/3 odds. Chibi IS a Kraken-inspired impostor? 5-1 odds. Emiko is secretly the reincarnation of Ray Charles? Even.
  12. Maxtech Aerospace is proud to announce the successful launch of the Kerbstation X - the first space station to be self-sufficient with respect to food and oxygen requirements! In addition, it has a huge (to the Max even...) nuclear reactor powering top of the line Jewel-4 ion engines, allowing it to theoretically reach Iota, Ceti or perhaps even Niven and return to Gael! Now if only I could run my graphics settings high enough to show a better Gael-scape, instead of the low-fidelity imagery which is all that has been declassified.
  13. The one thing I wish Mechjeb or KER had was the ability to plot multi-body encounters - I like using large moons to help with Gas Giant orbital insertion (especially planet sized moons like Augustus and Catullus) but it is hard to plot these in advance. I have had to resort to the Kerbal method - bringing 5-10 km/s of extra delta-V, turning my original first stage into a radial booster (at best) and resulting in a boom in launchpad repair contracts.
  14. My high quality, 10x MTBF enhanced high-gain antenna had a critical failure before finishing all transmissions from the surface of Jannah. Did Poodmund relocate the Kraken there? I thought they lived on Tellumo - maybe they have a base or something?
  15. So I am still receiving science data from Otho while my successor probe is approaching Gauss. I really need to invest in huge-ass antennas - it's like internet from 1982.
  16. Thalia is a barren ball of dust - I suspect all the ore got blasted off the surface and into orbit, slowly accreting into Eta. It would explain the somewhat unusual Geology, especially since Eta is small enough to have a chance at remaining undifferentiated, especially if the material was from Thalia's crust and mantle and therefore relatively devoid of radioactive material due to decay and differentiation over the previous few billion years.
  17. Thalia and Icarus have heating fields - I am not sure if radiators work that well compared to normal solar or internally generated heat. @Galileo would know.
  18. Well - turns out Hephaestus has ferrous skidmarks. Can you code some baby wipes? My probe is getting stunk out.
  19. I'm getting static on the Otho textures - is there a fix for that? AFAIK I am using the latest versions of everything (except no Scatterer at all).
  20. Would it be possible to tie a few experiments into the greenhouse as well? Things like zero-G hydroponics, soil utilization studies (for when on a planet) - they would require a lab on the same vessel (or docked to it at least) but would give purpose to space stations involving both. The gravity ring could also be useful in this respect - something like variable gravity experimentation.
  21. I have learned a valuable lesson with respect to spaceplane (Kerbplane) design: DO NOT USE RADIAL SYMMETRY WHEN PLACING WINGS!!! I was wondering why my plane was rolling uncontrollably - the 5 degree angle of attack was pointing in opposite directions. I had invented Gael's first hypersonic sky-drill. Thankfully I had parachutes in reserve. The cockpit would have overheated (except for some alt-f12 magic) but I think that is more of an issue with stock-heating designed spaceplane parts as opposed to what you get at realistic scale.
  22. This mod has gotten my computer begging me to STOP playing KSP. (I really need a RAM upgrade - 8Gb is pathetic compared to the awesome scale of the GPP solar system)
  23. God damn it - now I only get ~450 m/s of extra delta-v from Gael's rotation instead of ~600 m/s! I might need to actually properly design my lifters instead of randomly attaching progressively larger booster stages! (In reality, I was designing for RSS launches from Caneveral out of sheer force of habit, so I usually had at least 800 m/s left over in the insertion stage anyways. Besides that, without procedural parts (damn you KRnD) things get rather discretized anyways, so I usually end up over-designing slightly.)
  24. I wish I could run GPP at that resolution. I was orbiting Tellumo, minding my own business, time-warping through the science transmission (Kerbalism slows it down), and somehow ended up on a heliocentric orbit. Maybe Lili is made of Neutronium and gave me a gravitational kick.
