  1. The launcher still does not work to launch the game for me, on either Steam or Epic.  Almost certainly because my firewall doesn't allow it network access.  I see no reason to add an exception to my firewall rules to allow the launcher of a single player game access to the internet.  (For modded games, I normally copy the game outside of the Steam folders anyway, and create a shortcut to the exe to launch the game).

    "Cannot download updates
Please try again later and contact us if the error persists"

However this is better than the previous launcher version.  At least the error message is clear, and I would know what the problem was if I hadn't already guessed.

  2. @John12 1.12.4 from EGS worked for me in very brief testing, so 1.12.5 is probably also fine.  I needed to tell ckan to consider 1.12.x as compatible, other than that I just followed the normal install instructions. (Note I recommend copying the KSP folder outside of the Epic or steam folders, and modding the copied version. Also I always start KSP by either double clicking ksp.exe, or by creating a shortcut to ksp.exe, and not through the launcher).  https://github.com/KSP-RO/RP-0/wiki/RO-&-RP-1-Express-Installation-for-1.12.3 .

Also, in general you will get faster/better support on the KSP RO/RP-1 discord https://discord.gg/VdsxK9p7QC .

and likely do drone ship landings just from reentry profile requirements to keep it over water.

Either that or get one of those old drilling rigs they purchased as while ago fitted out with a landing pad and a crane.  (I'm assuming there is somewhere suitable in the gulf to locate the drilling rigs that puts the dangerous parts of re-entry offshore).

Will they do an first stage 33 engine static burn? Or go directly for launch if all engines fires and is nominal?
Think splashdown or try to catch first superheavy is also a bit up in the air.
As they have an another first stage I suspect they splash.

I would expect that they would want to demonstrate that they have adequate control, and that the vehicle behaves as expected before they attempt a catch.   I doubt they want to risk damage to the launch tower and other ground infrastructure if something doesn't work as expected.

Currently having an issue with a CKAN-installed instance of RO for 1.12.3, on the procedural fairings side of things. It appears that fairing diameter cannot be larger than 1.5 meters. Upon attempting to increase their diameters further, nothing happens.

I have an incredibly faint memory of something like this appearing in the past, but I can't recall a single detail past that. I may be blind, but I have not been able to find any settings that would allow me to increase fairing diameters further. This may very well be some hidden option that I am too dim to notice.

    Thank you for the help.

From memory when playing RO without career mode, you need to enable "Part Upgrades Enabled" or similar in the saves difficulty options.

Batteries do not charge? RO in KSP1.9.1

I played  RP with RO for a while. I have it on KSP 1.9.1 My first Polar Satellite is in orbit.

But I am just not able to get the solar panels to charge batteries. Power is produced in the solar panels, but the batteries just drain down.  Nothing is running that use the power so fast.  I need help please. If I do not fix it, I will delete RO.

That is a pretty old version of KSP.  The latest version of RO is for ksp 1.12.3.

    Hi all,

Can you add an assembly line in RSS/RO/RP1/KCT for having multiple vessels being built simultaneously, and if so, how? I can't find any options in any of the menus in the game, and even checking persistent.sfs and KCT presets has given me no clue whether this is even possible, although some videos I've seen suggest it is.

    Thank you!

    Gr,

Upgrading the VAB gets an extra production line.  (You also need to spend KCT points to level up its build rate).

I used to be able to get minimal control with science-core avionics and RCS (H&N keys- prograde/retrograde), but this no longer works with my recent updates.  Has that functionality been removed?

I also used to be able to play the game with comnet turned off, but now it seems like comnet is mandatory to control vessels and get science.  Is that the case?

From memory, the science core prograde/retrograde bit now requires a particular level of avionics, so early probes won't be able to do that, whilst later ones will.

Real antennas is built on top of comnet, so that is why comnet needs to be on.

Theres at least one thing that the KSP team should do, and its just give console players free PC version as a last goodbye and then just shut down KSP EE.

Every week Epic Games gives away a free game or two.  Next week they are giving away Kerbal Space Program.  So that is a chance to pick up the game for free.  https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/

does it count as cheating if you dont train your crew (example gemini which takes a total of like 225 days), and instead use a plane cockpit on the tower with access to the command pod so you can save your self 225 days.

From memory, there is a difficulty option to disable training.  What are suggesting is functionally equivalent as turning that option off.  Some people would consider your work-around as a form of cheating.
But RP-1 is a single player game, so you can play however you want.

Do note that you can start capsule training as soon as you add the capsule to the research queue.  If you do that then training is typically finished in plenty of time.

Like thinking some stuff has been proved when it actually hasn't.

I found Sabine Hossenfelder's videos on Subir Sarkar's work quite interesting.

The first video (7 mins) during which she talks about his paper.

The second video is a 45 min interview which I found also worth watching.

Now I don't have the background to assess his conclusions, but if he is right then the expansion of the universe might not be accelerating after all.

His paper is at https://arxiv.org/abs/1808.04597 .

This is a known issue and been around for quite some time. I don't know if and or when a fix is coming but, a workaround I use is to switch to a vessel in orbit or the tracking station  then warp and then switch back to the vessel on the moon.

Personally I'm not sure that would work.  When I've had this issue, it seems to trigger whenever physics kicks in, so switching back to the craft from somewhere else is probably enough to trigger it.   In my last campaign, I simply avoided non-physics timewarping during my manned lunar landing.

@Mike106 I think certain landing legs are more problematic than others.  From memory avoid the micro landing legs.  (Assuming a full express install, you should be able to resize the larger legs).   I've also had issues with the landing legs on at least one version of the premade LEM.

I've also seen players suggest https://github.com/gotmachine/PhysicsHold .  No idea if that works, or if it breaks anything in RP-1.

    I have a problem:

I've gotten to rockets over 20T,  I needed a better guidance unit but i've looked through a lot of the tech nodes, i found ZERO upgraded guidance units, I only have the stock guidance units that only can control crafts up to 20T, Help? I even tried upgrading avionics but nope, cant control any of my rockets, so confused.

Assuming your RP-1 is properly installed, and not years old, you should have a procedural avionics core, where you can select the controllable mass and the type of avionics (deep space, near earth, science core).

Nevermind i figured it out, CKAN only works for the newly installed version. So i searched up RP-1 on CKAN, and a couple of the dependencies were Rdd saying "This doesn't support your game version" even though it was installed to the newest version. Should I install the red  mods anyway?

The RP-1 install instructions are at https://github.com/KSP-RO/RP-0/wiki/RO-&-RP-1-Express-Installation-for-1.12.3 .
KSP 1.12.4 probably works, but I haven't tested it.  (You might need to tell ckan to consider ksp 1.12.3 mos as compatible).

Hi, why are kerbalism RO-configs, life support and converters "disabled"? nor do the kerbals consume oxygen.

    does anyone know a solution?

Do you have a working and up to date Realism Overhaul install, or just Kerbalism + the RO-Kerbalism configs?

I'm pretty sure the RO-Kerbalism configs aren't maintained by as part of kerbalism, but as part of Realism Overhaul.  (And they might assume that most of Realism Overhaul and dependencies are installed).

Assuming you do have Realism Overhaul installed you will probably get a better response on the RO discord https://discord.gg/VdsxK9p7QC

The Mars company, by the way, is worth US$94 bn. There's apparently a fair profit in selling chocolate and other food items.

When you sell to 100s of millions / a few billion customers sure.

Not so much money when you are only selling to a few 1000 customers.

  17. The launcher also crashes for me.

    cZUwqZt.png

I'm fairly sure that the "problem" is that the launcher assumes it has internet access, and crashes when my firewall says no.

KSP is a single player game which is does not need internet access.  So it's launcher should also be functional enough to launch the game without internet access.

If KSP2 requires internet access to play then it will be a hard pass from me.  I'm not interested in multiplayer KSP and I don't want to spend money on a single player game that could stop working in a couple of years when the publisher decides to turn the servers off.

@Intercept Games In the meantime I suggest you ask your publisher to fix their launcher so it is at least minimally functional without internet access.  Crashing without being able to launch the game gives a really bad impression to new customers.  (That is true even when there is an easy workaround, as new customers might not know what the problem is, or how to work around it).

I don't believe companies should be allowed to keep secrets to preserve company interests.

Are you saying companies should tell their competitors all their secrets?  Give away their competitive advantages?

If you just mean that government funded projects should be more transparent, I can support that in theory and within limits, but even then I don't think it is useful for them to show the public every iteration of their draft designs.  Atm I suspect that any designs SpaceX have for HLS are still in the draft stage.

Has NASA even chosen who will build the final lander yet?  Or are SpaceX still competing with other companies?

  19. I would have thought they would want at least some sort of Linux compatibility so that the game is playable on support the Steam Deck (at least for the final release.  Given that they appear to still have plenty of work still to do, I can understand if they want to focus on just a Windows build for the time being).

Assuming they are still using Unity, it really shouldn't cost them much for a native Linux version, so I think their is still hope there.

I have installed a fresh copy of 1.12.3 and downloaded RP-1, but the entry cost for part is not active, and i am able to choose any avionics level i want even though i just started the save!

    Any help?

You can design and simulate with any level of avionics (and tanks/engines configs) but you can't actually build and launch until your research finishes and you pay for the parts.

Including not fully covering all of the fuel tanks made compatible with RF by the RF Stockalike config.

If you are playing with Realism Overhaul, why would you want the RF- Stockalike configs?   Doesn't RO + RF + Proc tanks cover everything you need for RO ?

The only thing I didn't do is use CKAN, but I downloaded it manually.

Then you didn't follow the instructions.  Best guess is you are missing one or more dependencies somewhere.

Start with a clean copy of KSP 1.12.3, use CKAN and follow the instructions.  Don't install anything other than the three? mods the express install recommends until after you have checked you have a working install.

I think why it falls is because RSS is not properly installed some.

You aren't trying to install Parallax 2 are you?  Because from what i have heard Parallax 2 and RSS currently aren't incompatible.
