I can confirm as well; on an older, lightly modded save anyways. (I had no issues prior at least.) Haven't tried a full re-install with a new save yet, but from what I'm hearing it's not going to help. Tons of NullReferenceExceptions being thrown in the log once the Kerbal EVA'd, enough to slow the game down. EDIT: Whoa, a hotfix just hit Steam. That was fast. EDIT 2: Can confirm it's fixed for me.

Do as you like, I'm just suggesting something you could use right now to have an easier time, instead of waiting for a stock implementation. I was just trying to be helpful, not dismissive of your idea. -

Mun Lander: Terrier v. Nerv
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Baker's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'll add one more thing about the NERV, it makes for a terrible rescue lander engine as well. Lol. Almost fried the Kerbal I was going to rescue when she approached the ship, never put radiators on it so she had to sit and wait a while for it to cool down enough that she could approach. It's also tall and awkward to place. @5thHorseman explained the rest. NERV's are mainly for long range missions to other planets. -
F-35B VTOL Steam Workshop!
Rocket In My Pocket replied to ChadderVox's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Well, stock VTOL's have always been doable, even before robotics. So have stock swing mount engines. It's a pretty nice looking replica though! -
Breaking Ground DLC aircraft challenge
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Klapaucius's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
This DLC is making me feel old, pretty soon I'll be like; "Back in my day we made stock hinges, in the snow, up hill both ways, and we liked it!" Looking forward to it though, and this great challenge! -
Surviving Gunship Challenge (WIP)
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Mukita12's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Some challenges take a bit to get rolling, so I wouldn't lose all hope. However, the requirements are a bit..vague, and it sound like a lot of work to set up. Perhaps you should consider simplifying it, or providing a save file with the situation already set up? It's also considered "good form" to complete a challenge yourself first before offering it. Show us some screenshots, or even better a video of you doing what you described, it would also give people a better idea of what you are looking for. -
Action group editor and viewer
Rocket In My Pocket replied to schwank's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This one is also nice, the UI is much more user friendly, and it's less "cheaty" (if that concerns you), as it doesn't add any extra action groups. -
We need a career mode overhaul
Rocket In My Pocket replied to kirmie44's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'm certainly in the minority around here, but I love career mode just as it is. Sure, it could use some minor improvements and such, but there isn't anything inherently wrong with it. KSP is a sandbox game at heart, and personally I tend to bounce off sandbox games a lot as I like some direction, (at least at first.) Career is like a long, glorified tutorial, that slowly increases the size of your "sandbox" until the whole game is open to you, and money, science, and all that are no longer a concern; and suddenly you realize you're playing a full fledged sandbox without every actively deciding to. (Which is why I think, a lot of veteran players around here don't like it, they've outgrown it essentially. Me, I've always been a habitual re-starter so I have no problems playing it again and again after new updates.) I often see players asking what to do after the tech tree is done for example, claiming Career needs more to do after that, but I disagree, the game is just beginning for real once you unlock the whole tech tree. You're ready to drop the training wheels and ride your bike to the stars. -
Biome overlay in map view
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Pthigrivi's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
+1 Yeah, it'd be nice if there was someway to unlock this view in Career, like a building upgrade, or maybe requiring a polar sat with a survey scanner like you said. -
It's not an argument against his idea, I'm just offering him solutions that can be employed right now as we speak, on a stock install.

Can't say for sure, but I have about 700 on Steam. Played for a long time before that though, so...maybe 1,500ish? Somewhere in that area.

The Ultimate VTOL Challenge
Rocket In My Pocket replied to VictoryNeverFail's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm hoping to maybe get the "impress me" award with this one lol. I built it awhile back, and I'm actually happy to get an excuse to share it before the stock robotics DLC comes along and makes it kind of not so impressive anymore lol. Being a prototype, it barely flies, and doesn't even have enough fuel to comfortably make the island run. As far as being a VTOL, it isn't anything great, however; it has stock swing mount engines! (It's 100% stock really, besides the cockpit, which is the old Mk1 airplane cockpit before they changed it. I hope that falls within the "no mods" rule, as it is technically a stock part, it's just not in the game anymore.) It's a bit awkward to fly and definitely still needs tuning, maybe a complete re-design. The concept is neat, and I hope; impressive, but it's definitely not practical lol. I think, whatever weight savings you get by using the same engines to VTOL and fly, is offset by the weight of the bearing assembly. The bearing mechanism however is quite robust, and fairly reliable. Usable mid flight, and only requires "jiggling" every once in awhile. (If it get's jammed because you forgot to set the actuators back to neutral though; "smoke if 'em if you got 'em", because you're going down.) "TheSwordfishMk1PrototypeVTOL" (Not sure why I named it swordfish, it doesn't particularly look like one. Honestly I can't remember, lol. I'd be open to re-naming suggestions if someone had one.) My final VTOL landing could have been a lot better lol, I started too high up, plus the whole thing is off balance towards the nose. (Protip: This is why you name things "prototypes" so you never actually have to finish them or make them work completely right. ) -
"Stock" solution 2: Start all the landing gear retracted. It won't be going anywhere sitting on it's belly.
-
Uhhh..have you tried hitting the "Escape" key before walking away? Seems like the easiest solution.

Plenty of mods add real life rockets and to be frank, we have enough redundant parts as is. I imagine any historical part that got left out moat likely has a suitable stand in already in KSP like the antennas you mention. Do we really need a silver version just so we can do a faithful Sputnik? (Interestingly enough actually, the in game "stayputnik" is based on the American version, not the Russian.)

Multi Minmus Launch
Rocket In My Pocket replied to VictoryNeverFail's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Not a problem, no need to apologize, it's your challenge after all. I was just curious if that's what you meant to say by only listing those engines as allowed. I still think the SSTO rule is a bit odd though, and hard to enforce potentially; they could just stage something silly off one time at the launch pad and it's not technically an "SSTO" anymore. By the same token though, people should be well behaved off enough to follow the "spirit" of the rules instead of the letter. Best of luck! -
Multi Minmus Launch
Rocket In My Pocket replied to VictoryNeverFail's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Your engine rules seem to imply that basic liquid fueled rocket engines and nukes aren't allowed? No SSTO's seems like an odd rule for a repeatable mission that allows jet engines as well? -
They said "all future updates would be free." "Above all, is the admittedly quite grey area concerning what constitutes an update or an expansion to KSP and most importantly, what our promise of “all future updates for free” actually means. We realize there is more than one way to interpret that. Regardless of whether ‘updates’ implies 'expansions’ or not, it’s quite obvious now that we need to rephrase that statement so everyone knows exactly what they’re getting when they purchase the game. However, it became clear to us that many might have already taken that statement to mean something else than we did when they bought the game, and so had a different notion of what it was they were getting with their initial purchase." It's definitely open to interpretation whether "updates" includes DLC. Personally, if I were reading that statement prior to purchasing KSP, I would NOT have assumed that meant future DLC's would be free to me, only base game updates; as was Squad's intent.

Design and Fly Planes that are Hard to Fly
Rocket In My Pocket replied to 322997am's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Dug up one more whilst playing around. This one was built for a different challenge a while back, but I never actually got around to doing it. There is nothing spectacularly wrong with it, it's just absurdly heavy/draggy. Needs afterburner just to turn without falling out of the sky. At least though, you don't have to worry about hard landings? Lol. https://kerbalx.com/RocketInMyPocket/SafetyFirst
