  1. Ah, well off this picture its rather close
  2. So I got my guys onto a course to a duna encounter but it wont let me put a maneuver node on my current orbit but just the next one. I have restarted the game several times and switched craft but still i can only put maneuver nodes on the purple(next) orbit. So how can I fix this?
  3. Ha! I got the Mk2 last friday. But honestly there's no difference
  4. Well I assume you are going for the P-80 shooting star. One thing I noticed is the lack of the wing-tip fuel tanks
  5. When during a simulation of the Manhattan project for your U.S. history class you get mad at your class mates for not understanding that a polar orbit would be best if you want to be able to target anything with the space laser you're developing. Or why RCS is needed to aim it. Or what fairings are. Or what gimbaling is. Or what orbits are. You know what maybe my class is just stupid
  6. I thought of refueling but I never thought of using it as a way-point to assemble craft before leaving the kerbin system. Thanks for the insight and yeah ill read the fine print from now on
  7. Lo siento pero soy un gringo. Soy un estudiante y estoy estudiano espanol. por eso estoy aqui tratando entender que estáis deciendo. pero me gusta su proyecto
  8. I recently made a space station at ≈ 80km orbit for a contract. I lost a lot of money on this contract due to the fact that I'm garbage and didn't read the part about needing 11 kerbals and 5k liquid fuel to complete the contract. But that's not the reason I'm making this thread (even though there's probably one like it out there) the reason I am making this thread is now a have a bunch of fuel and 5 kerbals (I returned a few of them) in orbit and nothing more to do with the station. I was thinking about launching another module for it but I am playing career mode and money is tight because I am planning on launching a Duna mission as soon as I get the phase angle. So anyone smarter than me have ideas that could help me and anyone else that reads this thread?
  9. Ha this is me when I watched Interstellar with my family. My brother said "Why are they going to Mars when they want to go to Saturn?" and I replied with "You idiot they are obviously doing a gravity slingshot to save Delta-v, this way instead of a transit burn they will have to just perform minor correctional burns on their way to Saturn." Then he proceeded to call me a nerd and say I spend to much time with "that damn rocket game"
  10. One thing that always gets me while landing is I forget to switch the nav ball from orbital to surface. So yeah don't forget to do that. It will make your landing a bit less precise
  11. Sense= a faculty by which the body perceives an external stimulus; one of the faculties of sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. You should have used this word Since= in the intervening period between (the time mentioned) and the time under consideration, typically the present.
  12. Well, I am listening to the link as I write this reply. I think that they are bashing more on the euro-truck game because that is actual real time. And space travel does take a long time but KSP has this rather convenient thing called time warp. Also it says that these games are "what someone else's regular jobs is". this applies to farm and truck simulators but when was the last time someone made a jet pack or flew to mars or mercury or anything along those lines. All we have done has landed someone on the moon. But KSP allows those that feel so inclined to do these things and to explore our solar system in a way that we as a race have yet to be able to. So this odd feminine voice dissing on this game obviously isn't into the things the people that play this game are. It's like why Christians don't really understand why the cow is so holy to Hindus. That is a poor analogy but it's the best I can think of.
  13. Mine was in a space station orbiting Minmus awaiting a shuttle mission back to kerbin but i accidentally erased the part files......
  14. My first landing on the mun was quite like this. I then sent a rescue mission that landed fine but far from whoever was stranded (I don't remember their name). But I had wheels on this rescue pod so I rolled the 20ish kilometers and successfully made it back to Kerbin. I have yet to get good at landing at a specific place on purpose.
  15. So I am pretty much new to this game but I have had many successful round trips from minmus and a few from the mun. I usually only take the mk1 capsule, mk16 parachute, and the 1.25 meter heat shield back though. This works almost every time if you keep a nice mostly horizontal re-entry trajectory. But since you have to bring back more than that you wont slow down as fast. I would suggest areobraking. This is where you keep your periaps at the upper limits of the atmosphere but your apoapis out of the atmosphere. This will slow you down a bit but will keep you in orbit. Several orbits later you will slow down to the point where your apoapis is inside the atmosphere. At this point you will be going slower than you would have before without the areobraking orbits. Eventually you will fall back to kerbin. This will take much longer but should be safer. This is used a lot when landing on duna so look up some videos on landing on duna and it will help you with this. But this has some problems in that it needs more electricity because it takes longer and tourists have no ability to control things so if you are using a drone core you will want some solar panels. I think this will work but maybe not.
