  1. I've been quite optimistic for the whole ride. But after having read the last few posts, as well as the GTA forums thread linked here, I have to say this: Take Two, if you lock down modding/add microtransactions, I will boycott KSP. And don't even think about shoving your pile of steaming excrement down my throat - I've backed up old KSP versions on a secure thumb drive somewhere. You, Take Two, will have to pry KSP from my cold, dead hands. As a modder, this sort of killing off modding platforms to increase one's own wealth is unconscionable, and quite frankly, a load of corporate bull. This is not fear-mongering - I don't care what SQUAD says, because frankly, Take Two won't either. Join the revolution. Fight. Win.
  2. Well, there are some reasons why I'd prefer new over used. Warranty is one, as well as reliability. While it's not to say used parts are unreliable, generally new parts are more so than used parts. Warranty is also important - I want my wallet to be protected from screwy parts, yanno?
  3. Hey now - no need to get defensive. I was merely expressing my opinion. If that offended you, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about it.
  4. Generally, I would not touch used computers with a ten-foot pole, but check if said computer has a warranty. If it does, then it's probably good™. If it decides to blow some capacitors on you, then you can just ship it back from whence it came.
  5. Personally, I'd go for the 1070 (which is the one I will be using in my build), but the 1060 is still about 1.75-2.25x faster than the 960 at various games [source]. I don't have a 1060 or 1070 at the moment, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
  6. Alright, sorry guys. Due to the last week of school being a total nuisance (grumble grumble unfinished work grumble grumble), the next chapter will be postponed to Friday. The reason of this postponement will be revealed...on Friday. Dammit, I really haven't been publishing on time. Sorry guys.

  8. Not wishing to start a flame-war here, but I might be am definitely going AMD for my next build. Here's the reason why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWFzWRoVNnE TL;DW: Intel announced i9 and Kaby Lake-X to steal market share from AMD Threadripper, while also handicapping performance if non-Intel motherboards/SSDs are installed. Intel is also offering "physical DLCs" to make RAID 1, 5, and 10 available (link for more info), while the board only supports RAID 0. Anyway, back on topic - here's my Ryzenified build, along with moar peripherals and a larger case. (I lied about building mini-ITX.) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dXv3Gf
  9. First Flight has been taken down and will remain so indefinitely until issues with the new EULA are resolved. If you would like to read it, please enquire on the Kerbae ad Astra channel, #kerbaeadastra on Freenode. Thank you, @TotallyNotHuman
  10. I respectfully disagree with your comment. Yes, I understand that certain companies (*cough* EA *cough*) use DLC as a money-making scheme. But your generalization is grossly misled. Your quote here: is also very insulting and exaggerated. Let me use one of the games in my Steam Library (mods, I hope this doesn't fall under 2.2i, but please tell me if it does) as an example: Hacknet. After a friend recommended it to me, I downloaded it. It was well worth every cent I paid. Now, recently, an expansion (or DLC, if you will) was released for Hacknet. Did I buy it? Yes, because I had trust in the developers to produce quality content. Did they live up to their promise? Yes. I suppose that makes me "not enough enhanced in their mind", using your words, then...
  11. Ah, I understand. No need to be sorry. Thank you for the enlightening conversation nonetheless.
  12. Could you kindly point me at some of those sources (in PM, if such a thing is not allowed here)?
  13. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to game publishers, so could you please elaborate?
  14. Same. On the one hand, I feel happy for SQUAD and the devs; on the other hand, I'm slightly concerned about the future. The community... how will they react to this, I wonder?
  15. \o/ Wait no, I don't think "\o/" really suffices. \o/ Much better. Query: do you still need an editor?
  16. IIRC, Steam installs its stuff under ~/.local/Steam (equivalent to the Windows Steam directory) in Linux. KSP, therefore, would reside under "~/.local/Steam/steamapps/common/Kerbal Space Program". Do correct me if I turn out to be incorrect.
  17. Is that supposed to be a reference? Because my sleep-deprived brain says otherwise. In any case, the mention doesn't always mean something bad's going to happen. I'm merely citing the fact that stasis technology is in its infancy. They might die...or they might not. You'll know next week.
  18. @KAL 9000: Oops, sorry. I basically ripped the list of names from the people that followed this thread. Maybe you should follow this thread. @HamnavoePer: Thanks! Glad you like it.
  19. Thanks for the advice, @Randox. I am only using one 3.5" hard drive (with a M.2 boot drive, as you probably noticed), so I don't think that it will matter much. Plus, I want that Founders Edition card. On the Thermaltake website, it says the "Outer Chassis" graphics card clearance is 11.4" long. Whatever that means. Perhaps I have to take off the front panel for it to work? The "Inner Chassis" clearance (i.e., the one listed on PCPartPicker) is 10". No problems there.
  20. Hey all, I will be off to high school soon, and my current gaming rig [i5-4460/8GB/HD4600] is showing its age. As such, I will be building a new computer. Obviously, my dorm room probably cannot accomodate a full tower PC as well as a 27" monitor (my current setup), so I will be building in the mini-ITX form factor, and will be using my Chromebook as a remote head [monitor/keyboard]. Here is my current setup: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TbZvQV My budget is $1,500, but (as you can see) I have left a bit of leeway for purchasing more games. Could you all give me several tips on how I can get the most bang for the buck? Some notes to keep in mind: I may be doing some very mild overclocking to squeeze a bit more juice out of my processor. Emphasis on mild: this is a mini-ITX case, after all, and I've been told that burning down the dorm is probably bad for my health. I am willing to switch to AMD processors/graphics cards. In fact, nothing is set in stone. Modify it to your hearts' content. I will be using Linux (and installing Windows in a virtual machine for games that don't have Linux support) as my main operating system. I will be grateful for any suggestions.
  21. *cough cough* Sheesh guys, what's with the smell‽ It smells like someone set off a firecracker in here. Jokes aside, I started this thread for people to complain. I know sometimes complaints delve into personal attacks and other such things, but I wanted this thread to be civil (hence the OP stating that one should steer clear of the Forum's guidelines). The last page is...not what I had imagined this thread to be. Mods, I am requesting that this thread be locked until further notice. That way, we can all cool down for a bit. Peace.

  23. Ahh, I see. I was mainly going for the naming aspect, but that's some interesting trivia.
  24. This might be a somewhat odd query, but is Bealekor Kosmocentre a reference to @Beale (of Tantares fame)? I could've sworn that name looked familiar to me...
