  1. Yes my friend. We do. And it is stock. The only place to see it is to go IVA. From the main screen type "C" or use one of the IVA buttons on the Kerbal monitors (Bottom right of the screen). Once there you can use the zoom and the arrow buttons to move the camera around. It's on the panel in front of every Kerbal. It is a bit of an annoyance to go inside to check where the ground is when you need all your attention outside the cockpit.
  2. Crikey? Australian eh? 698 Not counting the Kerbals. Just counted 235 cabin seats. It Cruise at 30 m/s (Can run at Warp4) on the open sea. The range seems to be about 900 km. It runs on LF only. I have run test and it travel on land well. Care must be taken when attempting hills steeper than 10° and to keep the speed to less than 10 m/s on slope changes. Loosing a few legs doesn't affect her much but sometime there will be a chain reaction causing the loss of the vessel and most hands on board. I need to position 5 Refilling-Refineries-Stations around the globe then I can load her up and go.
  3. Done. It is done. They are back. Here is the recap of their last 5 km. http://imgur.com/a/eciNC The reception committee assembled on the runway (All incoming flight were put on hold). The Mark2 was given the nod to proceed. Nedbur rode the last few Kms on the running board. They pulled on shore right by their first flag. They placed that one on a practice run to the Island Airport. Nedbur Planted the first Vallina planted the last. Year 8 Day 337 to Year 8 Day 365: 27 Days total. They then hurried to the committee. There were the usual awards, Medals and speeches. Followed by a free-For-All Kerbal reunion. Everybody got Recovered. Vallina and Nedbur will be debrieffed and get a chance to write exams to see if they can upgrade to another level. Rumour is that "Someone" will hack the persistent file and make sure that they do. As for the future..... Vallina stays with the program. She wants to do science in space. Though right now she has some time off coming to her. Nedbur is leaving the program. He used to be in the Kerbal Navy and wants to go back to sea. He was made a very good offer by two Buddies he sailed with. Here is Nedbur's new command sitting at 1187 mt: And is new employers: Fromin and Kergard Two scientist who left the space program recently but made a fortune on the stock market. You can see them on the Aft Deck waiting for Nedbur to show up. They want to see their new baby leave dock soon. It will be the first Circumnavigation of Kerbin for Kerbal Cruise Line. Soon. Very soon .
  4. And while our Elcaning team waited. A Man Kerbal came down and came on board to chat with Nedbur.
  5. Good morning Elcaneers. Last time I reported on my team they just made landfall on the peninsula East of the KFC KSC. So many detours, pictures and intricacy...Hard to choose what to say. So here is the brief version. They spent the night on shore. http://imgur.com/a/hiXKp Drove through more hills. Nedbur sang and talked the whole time.....Or so it seemed anyway. The guys in Mission control wrote a lot of memos about the open mike policies. And they say the Transcrip-Guy went nuts and had to be hospitalized. More Tire fixing needed to be done. Finally the Sea. Again. The last crossing. A bit steep but we have 24 wheel brakes and thrust reversers. Nedbur took command of the Mark2. Koko (The new best ship of the fleet) was sent to refuel them. Easy pickup. Thank you Koko fuel. They used it all and stopped when they hit the manoeuvring fuel. One Way (The new best ship of the fleet) was sent to help. (NB Every ship gets damaged on their return so the last ship fixed by maintenance is therefore the best ship of the fleet) Another easy routine pick-up. Then it was Gazoo's turn. Do I have to mention that Gazoo was the best ship of the whole fleet? Closer than that and there is paperwork to be filled. They went to a full stop at the 5km mark (From their First-Flag-On-The-Shore) to let the reception committee get their act together And while they waited....
  6. I accumulate my Kerbals. Most (Read all) I don't know what rescue mission they came from. Though I do recognize their names. Mind you the ones on top are the one that get used the most. The only one I know for sure is Loman. I was just starting out an thought that every mission was created ahead of time by the programmers. He was orbiting Minmus over the equator at something like 1 or 2 kilometres above the highest peak. So Loman was to me LowMan. ME
  7. Good day Elcanites. Things are moving for my team. http://imgur.com/a/oGsjc The morning following the delivery of the Mark2 Vallina and Nedbur started toward the coast and their new vehicle. They didn't slow down much. Not even to plant the customary flag on the beach. Nedbur got out to supervise the docking with the Mark2. There was an issue with lining up the docking port. But after a quick fuel transfer....Bingo. Nedbur then proceeded to inspect the new ship. Secure the pyrotechnic. Pack the chutes. Then power up the systems. Now that is what I call a "Sea-Train"! Vallina shutdown the Vadnea and rejoined Nedbur on the Mark2. At sea Nedbur is the captain. Permission to board was easily granted. They left The Mark2 full steam ahead. The Vadnea in Full reverse. Eventually, it's fuel exausted, the Vadnea was abandoned. After Sundown, having met the pre-set coordinates, they stopped to wait for fuel under the watchful eye of the Big-Kerbal-in-the-sky. At the KFC, as soon as they got the word, Lelie and Jonsby left with the "Galactic Glamour" the second best transport plane of the fleet. Lelie thought that the Big-Kerbal-In-The-Sky was a good omen. Not to Jonsby. Good drop, good return. Vallina and Nedbur left at first light for an easy pickup. Experiment showed that they made better speed with the tank than without. So they kept it till they got sight of the coast. They got to shore at the same time as darkness. The shore was steep and dark but nothing a seasoned crew with a good ship could not handle. Good night guys. Glad you are back on the Continent of Origin. Tomorrow they will cross the peninsula and wade back in the ocean for 2 more fuel drops and a safe return home.
  8. All good suggestions. I don't really care how it's implemented. I am not sure how the game does it magic in the VAB. But having an option would be nice. Swap with an attachment-equivalent-part. Change it's inside with a right clic. All good to me.
  9. Good morning ElCanonites. The last few days were busy. For me and for my team. Teams? http://imgur.com/a/gnMgQ They have resumed their trek. Toward the bay once more. Scientific observations were made and recorded. They made it to the bay and crossed. Bad terrain did not stop them. But sundown did. While they went to sleep and dreamed of "New car smells". A little further West it was still daylight and the Heavy lifter team was taking off in "Conker" the best ship of the fleet (One Way and Galactic Glamour were damaged during testing) to deliver a brand new 40 mt rover to them. Unfortunately the roster was putting the same two scientist, as last time, in charge. IE Fromin and Kergard. Goof Good Scientist. Poor pilots. The delivery was a success. The drop is at: 2:33 The splashdown at: 4:32 The landing....Not so much.... No Kerbals were armed in the making of this landing. When Vallina and Nedbur wakeup the will head directly to the MarkII (They are still inland....Due to an early sundown....) and start across the sea toward home. More to come. ME
  10. That was so cool. I was going to experiment and the flag ended up being loaded so easy. I am still flabbergasted. http://imgur.com/a/fVsiX I was going to plant the flag next to the door and see if I could pick it it up with a fork-lift or somesuch. To that event I installed a "M-Beam 650" on the right side so things wouldn't fall out (The other side) while loading. Wasn't necessary as it turned out. Closing the door picked it up. You can see the flag poking out on the left hinge of the door. Here is the release in orbit: EDIT: The release it at 2:34 Way cool. 2 thumbs up. ME
  11. I did managed to pick a flag up and get airborne but the modified SSTO is proving to be impossible to fly correctly with my steel box mounted to the front. I am running out of free time here so someone else will have to prove this possible. Pictures pending. I will post my proof. Honest I will. Edit: I will steal some time from myself. Here is the proof you can pick it up: ME
  12. Hi. Maybe it's been discussed IDK. Can we get a "Swap button in the VAB? Let me explain using this picture: This is a common occurrence for me. I build not quite knowing what I want. Then after a test flight decide that I need to swap a part. In this case I want way less oxidizer and more fuel. I would like to swap the "MK2 Rocket Fuselage" for a "MK2 Liquid Fuel Fuselage". The part to be swapped has a lot of other parts "Rooted" to it so it's basically a rebuild. I imagine an extra button with the "Place", "Move", "Rotate" and "Re-Root" buttons. I understand that drastically different parts would produce odd if impossible configurations. Parts have after all different attachment points and orientations. So Maybe disallow weird swaps? But allow others? Anyway. Thanks for a fun and pleasant Game. I am off to rework that sucker. ME
  13. Worked on my Colonial Viper some more. From a clean state. This is the Mark 3.8 with docking capability. http://imgur.com/a/N5wO1 Jeb Docked with a drone version 4 times. Mechjeb helped a bit. ME
  14. Did more mileage on the Elcano challenge got bored silly. So I built and flew a Colonial Viper. Eventually made orbit and Jeb survived the landing. It need some more work. But I am happy. http://imgur.com/a/mVHkk
  15. Hey all Elcanites. Back in the saddle yesterday. Imgur mixed the images.....Again. Of course. http://imgur.com/a/4GrtE The Mark II is good enough to ship to my Circumnavigators. It can fly. It can land. Well Splash anyway. But not all the times.....Not very consistent..... The design team is positive...... Absolutely positive.....That they will not tell them that there could be a problem.....Or two.... So Vallina and Nedbur are unaware and happy. They are celebrating their Dateline crossing. I know. They crossed the actual line a long time ago but let me explain. As they travel West their days are slightly more than one day (They go to bed a little later every time). They had their first bivouac on day zero. Second bivouac on day one. Etc. This is bivouac 21 on day 21. They had one night less than the folks at the KSC. They transferred fuel some more to offset the front tires taking too much of a beating on slope changes. With good results this time. I just have to be careful of using warp.....Which is annoying as I, we, are tired. Vallina keeps talking of her career in space and Nedbur keep talking of is time in the Navy. When he is not retelling Vallina of a Sci-fi book he has read. Or a movie for that matter. He is converting her from a perfect science officer into a perfect nerd. She can now sing "The Green Hills of Earth Kerbin" with him now. Which he sings every time they climb a green hill. And there are a lot of them you know. Oh. And Major Tom Bob too. As it stands they are to make their way around the bay, to their West, and up the "Long Point" where they will get the Mark II and get home through sea crossings. Till next time. Over and out.
  16. Well the choice seem to be a boat that can ride on land or a truck (Rover) that can push itself on water. Not sure if you are asking the for the distance between the desert continent and the KSC continent. Using http://www.kerbalmaps.com/ The distance seem to be about 20km. A little closer than crossing from the KSC to the old airport island.
  17. I played a bit with the yellow wheels in my early days. I guess I should revisit them then. I thought they took less weight....Off to do research. Edit: On the subject of wheels refusing to be fixed. I found that doing a quicksave followed by a reload makes them fixable again. There seem to be a problem with what you see and what the program think of the wheel. Reloading the game puts everything back where they should be.....Broken that is. Problem with that is that sometime you would rather go back to an earlier state and not save right there and then.
  18. Still held-up by my real life. Here is the link for the gorge crossing my team did a little earlier. At that time I was down only three wheels as opposed to five now. The ship was down to about 16 tonnes. When you see the engines running on the way down the are not pushing they are reversing. No brakes. Just bursts of positive or reverse thrust. Never went ballistic but I came close to having zero speed which is, I think, bad. The crossing was done first try. Whew. I didn't believe it either. Sorry about the length. The tire fixing bits can be skipped without any penalties. My team should resume their trek sometime at the end of the week or early next.
  19. It's just too cute. Thank you. But for now I am sticking to stock.....A few mods are tempting me though....They will kill this old machine no doubt. I have tried to make a stock gyrocopter with mixed results. I’ll get back to it.
  20. Thanks for the concern but, yes, the Kerbals will go home. Preferably by ground and on their own. Not by "Recovery". I already moded my fuel delivery aircraft to carry and drop a brand new rover. It need more testing. The engines blow off when it hits the water (It also sustain tire damages). The Weasly can only take 7m/s. The current ship will limp OK. It got them to the waterhole. If it turns out to be too much of a dog it will be swapped a bit earlier. T'is all. I tested how it swims in the lake and the asymmetric drag pulls it off course. I played with asymmetric thrust but the ship is too slow to my taste. My fault for not F9-Erasing all the explosions. They all happened in good sportsmanship. Great Scott. I thought of going there but by ground it's a bit of a demanding detour. Just being facetious here. But technicaly I believe Kerbins diameter is measured at sea level. So it should be 1,200,000 metres plus KSC elevation + Nadir elevation. I just had a Stupid thought. If we had a competition for the kerbal that gets the furthest from the KSC, without leaving Kervin or being airborne, we would have taller and taller rovers at the Nadir.
  21. A little more driving. The ship is getting decrepit. I lost more wheels in the front on top of the side rails, the front fenders and part of the port running board. I am now down 5 wheels from the original 24. Even with all the fuel transferred to the back tanks the going is tough. A lot of split tires in the back and explosions in the front. F9 please. On this one Nedbur is doing a damage assessment for the KSC. The wheels used to be in groups of 6. The ship is now past ¾ of the way. A holiday was declared. R & R for all. All Kerbals involved had to forgo all routines, duties and obligations. No exceptions! The only mandatory thing was to have fun with a big EFF. http://imgur.com/a/WPxKr Won't be driving much in the next few days. Will probably relocate further south and plan a replacement rover to be dropped. Modifying the Fuel Stork to do it should be painless. Simulations have to be run. Runned? Ran? Have to be done. Ideally the new rover should be dropped (Upright) in a position to do an island hop as it will be fully fuelled. As a parting note. Nedbur declared that part of his mandatory Fun was to disconnect all the microphones on board the ship. There are no transcript of their exchanges.
  22. I had not seen that. Genius. Pure genius. I had redone my ship. Now I will have to do it again.
