  1. I just saw this on netflix and it is a pretty nice biography of Eugene Cernan, Apollo 17 astronaut. Thoughtful and a very human treatment of the subject matter.
  2. I got it and it is better than Vista and 8 but you do have to disable all the tracking crap. And as others have mentioned they are trying to force it on people if you have another version of windows. I have had friends who are not computer savvy get on their machines. Hint do not install optional updates in win 7 or you can Google keeping win 10 off your machine. One of the war gaming forums I visit mentioned apps to keep it off and remove the install files that are apart of the "optional updates" you can get with win 7.
  3. All the assorted landing craft and the tanker arrived at Jool and I found out that juggling 4 ships in flight around Jool was .. Exciting. But every thing is there and now I need to scrounge up fuel from all the the landing craft and put it in the tanker to transfer the fuel to the the miner so it can land and make more fuel. Not in the plan but this is still doable. (And had a visit from the decaying orbit bug that kept pushing the lander for Tylo into Jool but reloading the game cured it. For now) Mean while the expedition crew arrived at Val.
  4. Launched the last of a convoy of ships to Jool It is the expedition crew for my first Jool 5 attempt. It is getting crowed in space now
  5. Shadow play, it came with my video card and I just fart around with it really. Only for capture not streaming. I don't stream if I did I would look into OBS because I like free.
  6. Practiced aero braking at Jool With mixed results. (F5 and F9 turned out to be my friends)
  7. Sent probes to Jool and its moons The Expedition on Duna left And made it back safely to Kerbin
  8. I've only gone to Duna. In fact I don't farm Minmus or the Mun for science, I farm Duna for science. The game then gets updated so I start over before getting any where else. I will say that with out a d/v map found out of game or mech jeb for a d/v readout in the VAB and the node editor I would have never tried.
  9. I had the same thing happen yesterday. I had 3 other legs and the lander didn't tip so I was able to complete the mission but the expedition had to wait for a new lander to be delivered. It's strange how the landing legs that can support a multi-ton vehicle just blow up when you brush them with your sleeve.
  10. Shouldn't that a be a part of the Kerbal Olympics ?
  11. I was just jumping off and brushed it on the way down
  12. Alastair Reynolds - Revelation Space series Richard K Morgan - Altered Carbon series Stephen Baxter - anything
  13. Mine are very much like yours. And when landing legs were messed up I built this for an Eve landing
  14. Launched a Kerbin station in my latest science game Then Val broke a landing leg on Duna by " I just touched it I swear" Which necessitated a replacement lander delivered to Duna. Everyone agreed that the new model did look pretty cool with the new running lights added.
  15. Yes Minmus is easy but I landed on a slope last week on Duna and went for a ride. I had the chutes still out so it did not end in disaster but it was a long slide.
  16. Build lighter and go be going slower on landing are the watch words now. You also need to carefully evaluate the slope angle of the landing site or you will slide to your doom because of the way friction/traction interacts with landing legs and gears now.
  17. A crater works well most times. I was actually going for one and over shot the intended LZ when I came down on the slope. And I think you would have the problem, if using landing legs, of no traction. You are still sliding and picking up speed until you go fast enough to damage a component.
  18. Legs may not help that much any more with hills. The thing with hills now is friction (or the lack of) affecting wheels or landing legs is much more important. I landed on Duna the other day and slid down a hill at 1 m/s for a good while. Thankfully the chutes didn't cut away(because they kept my velocity from increasing) due to the fact I never came to a 0 velocity after touchdown until after the slide.
  19. Experiment with the rotation and movement tools. And maybe a little clipping too. This was done using 3 MK 2 LF tanks
  20. Took a break from getting science from Duna and sent a rover to Eve.
  21. You may have to experiment. Try locking the steering on the rear wheels, just use the front ones to steer. This is a pretty basic design I used recently. I think I also turned off traction control while in the VAB to get it to work right. This is also a good resource
  22. I have done rovers in 1.1 . It is a little trickier to drive these days I'll admit but it can be done. I've sent 2 unkerbaled rovers to Duna on the science play through I started after 1.1 was released.
  23. I built this last week in a new science game. You could strip off the can and use a capsule. I did do it Apollo style with a CM in orbit but I think it could be tweaked for a direct return. I also tend to not use the materials bay on a lander to keep the center of mass as low as possible. That is just a personal choice and it does mean less science gained.
  24. Hey that counts as a success lucky or not. Just learn from the failures and the success will come. The first time I successfully landed on the Mun I was shouting and jumping up out of my chair doing fist pumps. It had people knocking on my door asking if I was ok.
  25. My vote is for Civ 4-5, I got others but these are the ones I have 100 hours or so of play time in.
